Property Ratings at Plaza 209 Apartments
Plaza 209 is a absolutely the worst apartment complex in KC. Please do not move here. If you want to deal with mold, dampness, and complete filth with an outrageous price, this is your place. I moved in in August 2019 and moved out in early October 2019. This place is absolute garbage. Please, I urge you to reconsider moving here; it will save you time and money in the long run. My unit, as well as multiple other units, tested positive for two different types of spores from the mold. Here's a quick list of what else was wrong with Plaza 209. The entire apartment is noisy and you can hear everything. My the unit was completely disgusting when it was "professionally cleaned" and took me 8 hours to clean, there was rust in the dishwasher and shower head (I loved my eyes burning when showering), the entire mailbox collection for every resident didn't lock, packages were left for anyone to grab, doors to some units (including mine) never actually locked (people could just walk in and steal your stuff for free), the complex is never cleaned, the workout facility is very small with limited equipment, there's a couch outside in the parking lot (pretty sure they did this as a joke but it's advertised), fire alarms happen all the time, not enough parking for every resident if you want a spot, and there is so much more wrong with this place. I terminated my contract without a fight back from the owner of the building. Even though he personally didn't craft my termination lease because he is lazy, there was no argument or challenge to my complaint of mold and the various stuff I mentioned above this paragraph. This shows that the owner knows the condition of the building without informing anyone that they are living with mold. What a completely and utterly unacceptable experience I, as well as others, have experienced. Please do not move here. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I did write a formal proposal letter of my termination. Please consider other options.
Property Manager at Plaza 209 Apartments, Responded To This Review
Dear Resident, My name is Mike Tiehen and I have been personally involved with managing this building for the last 2 years. I am sorry to hear about your bad experiences at Plaza 209. We truly strive to provide top level management services and deeply care about the experiences our residents have while living at one of our properties. We also strive to do the right thing. We thought it was the right thing to do to accept your request to terminate your lease. We never want to risk anyone’s health. We are truly sorry that you had to deal with this situation. Once we found out there was mold we acted quickly to mitigate it. We did it successfully and we have since consulted with professional engineers to identify the cause and we initiated the recommended solutions so we can prevent it from happening again. I believe your comments about the building being absolute garbage and complete filth are not accurate. I would invite anyone to stop by the building to verify that this is not true. We will make sure to take all your comments into consideration and will do our best to ensure these things do not happen again for any of our residents. Thank you,
