Property Ratings at Pleasant Street Towers
The building looks new and shiny from the outside but that's about it. The insulation is extremely poor, and the fact that the floor is not carpeted just makes the living experience horrible. If you are sensitive about noise from neighbors, I wouldn't consider moving into this building. Last but far from least, the management is extremely rude. They have no respect for the tenants and they respond as if they are servile to them.
The building is quite nice but the management company is awful. If you call the office, they almost always forward you to a woman named Kimari who is quite possibly the rudest person I've ever dealt with over the phone. (She even hung up on me! Even the DMV doesn't hang up on you!) If you rent here, read your lease carefully and keep your rent receipts. The super also apparently quit or left several months ago and no one felt it was important to share that information with the tenants. But that said, the building and location are pretty nice so if you can tolerate the bad management it's not so bad. Pros: 10 min walk to Malden T station Common areas are cleaned, trash and recycling is taken care of for the building Laundry room is not in a dirty basement Mailboxes (for letters and small USPS packages) are locked Outgoing mail slot in lobby Parking in a lot across the street Building is wired for FIOS Units facing south have a nice view of Boston, those facing north are very quiet and face the hillside Cons: Awful management Very poor communication between management and tenants (ex. Malden sent a notice with the water bill that there were elevated levels of lead, but management didn't share this with tenants) No way to pay rent online, have to mail a check Packages sometimes get stolen if left at front door (UPS/FedEx) Spare key for building's front door (Medeco) is $100 and they want you to go to their office in person to pick it up Units facing interior lightwell are really depressing
I lived in this building for 2 years and wouldn't recommend it to anyone else. The Premier Properties Management Group employee who manages the building was extremely rude, unhelpful, condescending, and an absolutely infuriating woman to deal with. If you call in and are forwarded to Kamara / Camira (not sure how she spells it), I highly recommend that you hang up and ask the secretary to be forwarded to someone else. The super was also lazy and was very slow to fix anything in the apartment. When my dishwasher began to flood it took months for him to come fix it, or say he came and fixed it, then the next time I went to wash my dishes my washer was flooding the kitchen again. It's also very overpriced in my opinion for the Malden location and size of the rooms.
