Fargo
The largest city in North Dakota, Fargo rests on the North Dakota-Minnesota border and the western banks of the Red River. However, Fargo residents affectionately refer to their location as “North of Normal.” You might find that Fargo is a bit different when you stop by the Fargo-Moorhead Visitor Center and see the woodchipper from the movie Fargo. Maybe it’ll be when you start spotting members of the colorful herd of bison painted by various artists scattered all around town, and rightfully decide to go on a scavenger hunt to find them all. Perhaps you’ll find it unique that Wurst Bier Hall serves a rattlesnake rabbit bratwurst and indulge your curiosity. You’ll notice that North of Normal is a pretty interesting place to be. There’s no shortage of things to do in Fargo. Plains Art Museum and Rourke Art Gallery and Museum offer residents and visitors endless opportunities to admire art with all kinds of rotating exhibits. The Historic Fargo Theatre serves as an arthouse theatre and performance venue. Many local parks provide space for outdoor recreation in warmer months while the annual Frostival celebrates outdoor activity during the winter. Getting around from Fargo is easy with access to Interstates 29 and 94 as well as Hector International Airport.
Moorhead
Nestled next to Fargo, the city of Moorhead is an excellent place for families. Four colleges call this area home, including Minnesota State University Moorhead. You’ll love the calmness and easy way of life here. The Red River, golf courses, and parks make the city worthwhile for sure. When Moorhead residents are out and about, you’ll likely find them out to dinner on 8th Street. The Rourke Art Gallery and Museum offers a lot of culture, from paintings to sculptures and everything in between. When living in Moorhead, you’ll be close to Interstates 29 and 94 for easy travel as well as Hector International Airport and the Minnesota-North Dakota state border.
West Fargo
Many who live and work in the Fargo-Moorhead area have chosen an apartment in West Fargo because of its small-town feel. Plus, homes tend to be more budget-friendly. There’s a huge sense of pride within West Fargo, and the cultural attractions and events here reflect that. One of the most famous places in this city is Bonanzaville. The “village” as it’s often referred to, encompasses 43 historic buildings on 12 acres of land. Here, you’ll be in awe by the artifacts and structures within this cool section of town. West Fargo is also the home of the Red River Valley Fairgrounds. The fair, which is held every summer, features carnival rides, exhibits, performances, and a beer garden. Just east of the city is where you’ll find the Roger Maris Museum. Roger Maris was a professional baseball player who broke Babe Ruth’s home run record in 1961. When it comes to shopping, residents have plenty of opportunities. Specialty shops, retailers, convenience stores, and furniture outlets call West Fargo their city. West Fargo is a city of various tastes, and it has a large selection of restaurants to support it. French-inspired Maxwells is a great choice. Their dishes include items such as ahi tuna, scallops, and flatbreads with a Parisian twist. A family-friendly dining experience at Deaner’s Diner will land you in a sea of biscuits and gravy, Swedish meatballs, and bread pudding! Residents can commute through West Fargo by car or on the MATBUS bus system. Interstate 94 is close to neighborhood apartments, and locals can easily travel to North Dakota State University, Hector International Airport, and Osgood Golf Course. In addition to the fair, Big Iron Farm Show and Nite to Unite are exciting West Fargo events.
