Northwest Raleigh features a unique combination of residential neighborhoods and convenient shopping centers all in park-like setting. City planners wanted to preserve as much of the landscape as possible while also making a way for a sprawling city in need of high-quality, affordable housing. The major routes in this part of town are lined with mature oaks and plenty of greenery. Shopping malls and retailers like Crabtree Valley Mall blend into this park-like community seamlessly, and often can’t even be seen form the road. Although this neighborhood is known for being residential, you can find many major attractions nearby like the North Carolina Museum of Art off Blue Ridge Road. Many Raleigh residents call this section of town home because if provides affordable apartments complexes, established subdivisions with large lots, and convenient access to Downtown Raleigh, located less than 10 miles away.

I've been a resident for one year. The experience has been good, and I've renewed my lease for another year. I really appreciate the good job the leasing team does of enforcing lease agreements and community standards - particularly related to the no smoking rules, noise and use of common areas. Thanks all!

Management has definitely improved in the last 3 years. The best part about this apartment is the proximity to other local businesses. The pool is beautiful and the clubhouse is a great feature. The pool is beautiful and the clubhouse is a great feature. I would recommend an apartment that is not anywhere near the dog park due to noise.

Since I moved in there have been lots of changes and new management at least twice. The management teams before the current one was very helpful...friendly and overall professional in the way they treated the residents. The breezeway are not cared for spider webs all over the breezeway area as well as fallen leaves. Packages being stolen from locker area because delivery personnel just drop Packages in that area instead of delivering packages to our doors.

Leased for a year, 1st floor apartment and it was the worst apartment living experience my boyfriend and I have every had. The layouts are nice but that's it-don't get sucked in by their model apartment because none of them look like what they have pictured on the website. Roaches, mold, uneven floors from water damage, a pool always closed because people can't keep glass out and smoke filled apartments. The breezeways stink because neighbors overload their trash bins so raccoons are at your front door constantly and garbage leaks and stains all over the place! We couldn't get out fast enough.

The apartment itself is nice. It looks pretty on the inside and outside. The amenities are decent (pool, gym, etc.). Once you dig a little deeper, you'll find COCKROACH infestations, lack of good management, and multiple other things that make it absolutely dreadful. This complex has been bought out by multiple different companies at least 3 times in my 2 years of living here - and none of the companies that have bought it out have made it any better. You will get charged for the same fee multiple times every time you pay rent, and when you bring the issue up to them, they'll say it's standard. They will also take their sweet time applying your rent payment to your account and you will get charged extra fees for "eviction" even though you are up to date on all of your payments. They act like they are clueless and are no help at all. This goes for all of the people who have worked there in the past 2 years. Living here was a waste of my time and money and I will never get back the amount of breath I wasted trying to get through to them.

if you want to live in an apartment complex that has zero idea of what they are doing, then choose The Riley. Garbage is never picked up on time and they force you to pay for it. parking is absolutely atrocious. thieves stealing packages. dog poo literally everywhere. the management team does nothing about any of this. when you come to them to do anything, they are too lazy to get out behind their desk and do literally anything. if i was you. i would highly recommend looking at another apartment complex. the 2 star rating is even a joke, should be a 1.

Hello, reviews like this give us motivation and help us ensure we provide high-quality care. Thank you for your feedback.
This isn’t paid advertisement this is a real tenant with real proof. Rule of thumb: When you want to rent somewhere you always want to come at night! And feel free to ask actual tenants what they think if you see them outside. I made a complaint recently about the parking and I was asked to pay $75 a month for a garage if I wanted a secure spot I said no! because why would I pay an additional $75 per month when I actually live here?! Meanwhile, people who don’t are taking up all the spots! Then the next morning as a result of making a parking complaint they tell me they will be entering my place the next day because all of a sudden my water needs to be inspected because they undercharged me? Immediately after I reject paying $75 a month for a garage? Wonderful timing right? Nothing suspicious about that huh? So you know what let me go ahead and tell everyone the truth about this apartment complex. The original name for The Riley was The pointe at crabtree I guess they changed the name to detach themselves from the mass amount of negative reviews before. So here’s the truth 1. Lots and lots of Cigarettes are surrounded on the floor by and inside the complex 2. You can hear people having sex loudly through the walls of your bedroom when you are trying to sleep 3. Stairs and floors are extremely dirty 4. People steal packages; in the mail room I’ve seen packages be ravaged through leaving empty boxes 5. There is no parking whatsoever especially at night, trailers are taking up parking spots 6. You’ll see other tenants “hawk” spitting in front of other tenants doors 7. Staff is unhelpful, they only selectively reply to emails 8. People are moving out left and right 9. They throw parties here during the work week 10. They lie to you and tell you that you have to leave when they feel like renovating to make more money

I have been more than pleased with my experience with the Riley appartments so far. All of my interactions with the staff have been very pleasant. Raven was especially helpful and courteous which contributed to my decision to move here. My appartment was clean and in like new condition when I moved in. All of my interactions with my neighbors have been nice. If things continue as they have been. I plan to be here for quite some time.

Hello, we strive for 100% satisfaction, and it is great to see you had such a positive experience at The Riley.
Me and my boyfriend lived here last year. It was great at first. Until we started to be charged extra fees for absolutely nothing and no one could tell us why. The staff was good for the most part except for one woman(I won’t throw her out there) she was very rude and had a very smart mouth when we had concerns. There definitely was a bug issue and you could never get any rest with all the construction that was going on. Not only that, it’s very overpriced for the small size of the apartments. If you live/move here, good luck.

I have done a lot of apartment living in the past years and this place is by far the WORST apartment I have ever lived in. Dont let the new renovations full you. This place is full of bugs of all kinds.Roaches!! Bed Bugs!! They will come and spray or say they did but it does not help. I give this place a below 1 star.

Staff is extremely rude and unhelpful. Even with routine issues, they refuse to help tenants. The apartments themselves are spacious and updated (basic necessities anyways) but the staff is honestly a deal breaker, they are horrific. There are always issues with billing and they try to sneak in extra payments whenever possible. It's amazing they have anyone resign a lease here.

Office Staff - All terrible except Quianna. On two separate occasions I emailed the property manager every day for 5 days and never got a response. My apartment was infested with roaches/water bugs upon move in. For 3 weeks management "forgot to put my apartment on pest control". This pest control treatment is something that you pay for in your rent and you should have access to. Also upon move in my dishwasher, ice maker, and hot water didn't work. There was no timeline given for when maintenance would be able to fix this. Later on there was a leak and water coming through my ceiling from heavy rain. Again, no response from maintenance. 2 weeks later when I happened to be home for lunch, 3 men (assumedly vendors or 3rd party contractors) entered my home without knocking and were startled to find me there. Makes me wonder how many times random individuals entered my home while I was away at work. Landscaping - Well maintained around the leasing office, completely ignored everywhere else. Trash and cigarette butts liter the property. Other than grass no real landscaping at all. Amenities - There is a raquetball court but I suggest avoiding the area as residents allow their pets to use the bathroom inside the room so naturally it reeks. Gym is very very basic. Pool is pretty to look at but expect many young kids running around, not the most relaxing space on the property. Pests - There is a huge water bug/roach issue at this property. Safety - Questionable. Numerous police cars are seen on the property especially late at night. Outdoor lighting is scare and dim. Parking is uncovered and not patrolled. Definitely don't keep any valuables in plain view in your car. Parking - Terrible. Each leaseholder gets one parking pass. Visitor parking may as well be non existent. There are about 10 visitor spaces for the entire property and I would estimate that 8 out of 10 are occupied 100% of the time by residents who park their 2nd cars there 24/7. Towing is strictly enforced, don't chance it. You will have to pay $250 to get your car back from impound. THIS PROPERTY IS NOT WORTH WHAT THEY ARE ASKING FOR IN RENT. You are not nearby to any businesses or restaurants that you will ever want to go to or walk to.

I've lived at the Pointe at Crabtree for almost a year now. And the staff has been very attentive to my needs and request. Specifically Quianna; She has made herself available whenever I needed anything. She is very reliable and easy to communicate with.
Property Manager at The Riley, Responded To This Review
Hello, Thank you for your kind words! We are lucky to have such an awesome staff and we are honored to serve our residents. Thank you again for your comments, as well as your continued residency. Sincerely, Hayden Sullivan
I moved in back in December 2014 when Greystar was beginning to take over. Since then, they have over billed me by $25 every month. Every month I go to the office to get this corrected. They always say they will reverse the additional charge and correct my bill. I have since moved out and I was NEVER credited for these additional charges. The guest parking is awful. Every visitor needs a visitor pass, unless you can grab one of the very few visitor parking spots. The complex will tell you a guest only needs a pass if they are staying overnight. What they fail to mention is "over night" means "after 6PM, when the tow truck comes around and the office is closed so you can't get a pass." They have an agreement with a tow company who drives through every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday and is allowed to tow 1 vehicle. Your lease agreement may say you get a 24 hour notice before being towed, but they don't adhere to that. They had my guest's car on a tow truck one night when we ran out to stop them. The guy demanded $500 cash to drop the car off the truck, but said he wouldn't let us go to an ATM. We managed to get $100 cash together which he accepted and dropped the car. It was the sketchiest thing I've ever experienced. I told the apartment complex and they didn't care. This complex has a lot of crime. On April 1st, I personally witnessed a group of people drive into my apartment parking lot in a white van. They pulled up behind an SUV and got out. They used something to scratch the car up, then they busted the sideview mirrors off the car. I couldn't see the license plate on their van before they drove off. Most recently, the complex has continued their billing issues. Their online bill pay didn't process half of the rent payment. We were out of town & didn't notice the payment hadn't processed. The apartment put a note on our door saying they needed payment by the end of the week or we would be evicted. A bit extreme, but thankfully we got home in time to see the note and submit a check. We dropped the check off and left a voicemail asking to be called back when they received our payment. 3 days later, the check was taped to our front door (not voided, still a valid check) with a note saying they would only accept a money order. They never returned our call. They didn't care that it was extremely unprofessional to leave a personal check on my door where any of my neighbors could steal it. I moved out a couple of weeks ago. Don't lease with Greystar.
i recently moved here and I love my apartment. However I'm not a fan of some of the amenities and office staff. The car care center isn't great and the rules are crazy. It would be nice if the office staff were professional and act like they care. I wish I would have reconsidered moving here, but it could be worst.
I HAVE LIVED HERE ON AND OFF FOR YEARS NOW AND I CAN SAY I AM SATISFIED. OF COURSE I HAVE HAD MY RUN INS WITH THE LEASING OFFICE, BUT NOTHING NEVER RESOLVED.
The Pointe at Crabtree is located in such a wonderful area. There's restaurants all around and shopping in close proximity. It's located about 6 to 7 minutes from Crabtree Valley Mall. The Pointe at Crabtree is also located near Rex Hospital as well as several dentist offices, dermatologist offices, gyms, etc. The apartments are very spacious and so are the bathrooms. For the price you can't beat it. It's a quiet neighborhood and the staff are lovely. I would say it's lovely loving at the Pointe.
