Property Ratings at Portage Pointe Apartments
I have lived in Portage Pointe for 27 years and I have no plans to leave! The staff is so friendly and maintenance is on it!
First impressions went a long way when my wife and I decided to rent here. We've never come across a more welcoming and inviting staff in all our previous renting experience. Since signing our lease in 2016, they've handled any issues we've had with the unit within a day (two at most). If you ever need anything, just ask, they will do whatever's within their reach to accommodate you. I wholeheartedly recommend this community if you want to be treated like a human not just a unit number.
Coming from a college student who has lived in almost a dozen different places, Portage Pointe apartments are the absolute best! The office staff are so helpful and friendly, the maintenance staff gets back to you right away, everything feels so clean and updated, and it feels so safe here! Wonderful place to live - no need to look anywhere else :)
Great place to live! I've been here since approximately 2011. The staff is great and responsive to any issues or concerns. They make improvements to the area when needed to maintain a nice living environment. For example, they are currently buidling a pavillon area with tables and grills - YAY! There is a very nice party room in the Clubhouse with outside furnishings to expand the space, onsite gym, and an outside pool. I've used all of them. The grounds are well kept; nice landscaping, snow removal, clearing/icing the sidewalks in the winter. There are different activities at times for various ages such as for children (Easter egg hunts, trunk or treat), Christmas Parties for the residents, and Bingo to name a few.
I've lived here for two years and my two dogs couldn't be happier! The staff is quick and tentative and generally just fun to talk to. Built-in dog park!? I am not sure that it gets much better than that for a pet friendly apartment complex! There are plenty of other dogs there too for them to play with, while the community is all around enjoyable. It never gets too loud but its never feels boring. The gym and the swimming pool are pretty awesome additions too!
Where do I start the people in the office lied to us saying its pet friendly and let me tell you its not they will send you letters the 1st day you bring the dog home if it barks once. They aren't friendly one bit as they allow maintenance to walk in unannounced and maintenance only puts bandaids not actually fix the problem. Go elsewhere if you're looking for a quality Apartment in Streetsboro
we have lived here a year. just renewed our lease. we love the place. the staff is super fantastic! friendly and helpful! even the maintenance personnel my washer was leaking..my son ran to find someone and he ran right over and fixed it! The pool in the summer was great! the parties are so fun! its like having one big family here! everyone gets along so well! and they are so welcoming to pets as well! When tenants walk in the office with their dogs the dos know right where to go for their treats! The apartments are very roomy and secure also. I cant say enough about this place!
These are not "luxury apartments!" The AC doesn't work in the summer and the only excuse is: "it's too humid and our units can't keep." Everyone has the same response, totally scripted. It's 92 degrees in my apartment and nobody is doing anything about it. Very luxurious! It is anything but! Ownership and management should be ashamed but nobody seems to care about the comfort of their residents. It seems too crazy too be true but trust me! I wish I did not renew my lease. Please, please beware!!!
I lived at Portage for about two years. The rent was affordable, the location was nice, and the staff was fantastic. Portage Pointe was very accommodating in every way. They always made sure packages were delivered when there was mail confusion. They gave plenty of notice when work was being done in the buildings. The pool was a fantastic addition in the summer time. The only reason I left was because I got a good deal on renting a house. They made it very easy to move and did everything they could to get another tenant into my old apartment so that I could get out of my lease early with little consequence. All in all this was a great place to live.
I've lived at Portage Pointe for about six months now and it has been wonderful! The rent is very reasonable and you are offered so many options such as washer/drier, balcony, fancy ceilings, etc. They are the most dog friendly apartment I have encountered. No matter how big or small, all dogs are welcome and the staff show extra love when you bring them up to the office for a visit and a treat. Other animals are welcome as well. If there is a problem, maintenance is there very fast to fix it for you. They have this new package system where if you receive a package that doesn't fit in your mail slot, it goes to the package room, locked safely in a locker, that only you can retrieve whenever you are available. No more rushing to make it to the office in time! Everyone is just so friendly and accommodating and I have yet to have any issues that couldn't be resolved. The ladies in the office are down to earth and are willing to help in any way possible. This apartment complex should be at the top of your list when considering where to live!
I recently moved in to Portage Pointe and I love it! My apartment is more like a house! All of the updates give it a modern feel and it's very spacious. The staff is amazing! Friendly, professional and extremely attentive. I've had a chance to meet some of the other residents and they have all been extremely kind. I will be calling Portage Pointe home for years to come!
I lived at Portage Pointe for 3 years. They were nothing short of amazing. From the office staff to the maintenance team they were always there for you. The few very minor maintenance issues i had come up were always taken care of either that day or the next. The halls are always cleaned and the office is perfect. The apartments are very spacious and well kept. Overall I just really enjoyed my time at Portage Pointe and would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to rent in Streetsboro.
I rented here for 6 months / when a job offer out of town came up I went into the office to see about getting out of my lease a month early. They said if another potential renter came along it would be no problem. A week later they called me and asked if I could be out on a certain date, which I agreed to. I signed a new lease out of state and notified them I would be out on the date they asked. Just before I moved out they notified me that the future renter backed out and I was responsible for the rest of the lease knowing I was moving out of state. They are unethical & dishonest.
We lived at Portage Pointe for the past six years, and recently moved due to a home purchase. I have to say, we had nothing but a wonderful experience living there! Our apartment was spacious and the views around the property are spectacular. They are always doing something new each year to improve things for their tenants. They also have all types of events to enjoy. This past year, they had a huge outdoor movie screen and we got to see the Cavs playoffs. Maintenance is wonderful. Any issue that you may have, they either come the same day or the next, at the latest, and they are super friendly. The office staff is always so helpful and friendly. They truly seem to care. They have a new manager that I don't know too well, but anytime I stopped in, she was so warm and welcoming. She really seems to care about what the tenants want. Since she came, the hallways stopped being cluttered, and I didn't have to be embarrassed when I had guests over. My neighbor used to leave her Christmas decorations up year round, so needless to say, I loved the new rule! I'm excited to have a home, but I do miss the nice little community that Portage Pointe offered.
I have lived at Portage Point for 3.5 years and I can't imagine moving out any time soon. Every time you walk into the office Jen, Alison, Kimberly and Jayann are always so friendly and know if you're coming in for a package, before you even walk through the door. The apartments are so cozy. The halls are clean. I love the gym. All of my neighbors are so friendly! Streetsboro has a lot to offer, and is so close to all major freeways. I would definitely consider Portage Point if you are looking for an apartment in the area.
We lived at this apartment complex for over two years. When we first moved there it was a wonderful place and community. Then in the past year management changed and our lease couldn't end soon enough. There was significant flooding in front of our building every single time it rained for over a year including in the winter when it would be a sheet of ice. We complained numerous times and it was never fixed. Every winter the parking lot was never salted, which would also result in it being a sheet of ice. When we moved out they charged us to replace the carpet even though it damaged and needed replaced when we moved it, and we never signed anything in our lease agreement about being required to replace it in the event it was damaged. Avoid living here at all costs. The new management treats you like a number, it's no longer a nice community to live in, and they don't fix things when you complain even when it's a safety issue.
Very disappointed in the direction complex is heading in. I had standing water outside entry door every time it rained for a year ruining several pairs of shoes. This was a huge inconvenience because you could not use the door without planning ahead and taking crocs or flip flops. Also ice in front of the door most of the winter and parking lots were even worse. I had to buy salt for in front of my garage. Unfriendly manager who made all wreaths come off doors, no advance warning when changing washer and dryer necessitating a trip to the laundromat.I would not recommend living here because of new manager.
I am occasionally greeted by a friendly little toad hopping across my path as I head to the fitness center to work out in the morning. I am usually then greeted by some fellow early risers in the fitness center. The toad and fitness conscious tenants are typical of the whole staff here at Portage Pointe. They have tenant gatherings and parties The staff is always displaying wide grins and always going out of the way to help. There are many dog walkers kids on the way to school and young couples starting out. The apartment complex is its own nice community nestled into an area of Streetsboro near shopping, and big city nicietys in nearby Cleveland and Arkon.
I lived in Portage Pointe Apartment for over 9 month now. Everything is good so far. I got tons package come to the leasing office, they always take care of them and hand to me with smile, not matter how many i got. I would recommend to my families and friends. Pros: Staff are very friendly, always smiles Apartments are well maintained Very pet friendly community Spacious club house and 24 hour gym Many fun activities, maintenance respond fast Cons:Parking space is a little tight, but still enough Garage is a little hard to get(Many people use it as storage) Plowing in the winter is not perfect (Morning is fine, but late is not great) There is a one time $20 fee for 24 hour gym pass Overall, I like the community, its nice and quite, also rent is not bad at all. I'm planning to stay another year here. :D
I recently came to Portage Pointe with my girlfriend and we took a look at a 2 bedroom apartment. We loved the space, it was perfect for us. The rooms are very spacious and the kitchen cutout gives a feeling of openness! The whole property has a great look to it and is very welcoming! Also the staff in the leasing office was extremely nice and very helpful!!
We are a family of 5. This place is very peaceful. We also have very quiet neighbors. We get privileges that are also very neat and free. Like, we get a gym, go at anytime 24/7, the pool is an awesome place to have fun with children and pool parties. If you are a garden fan you'll love planting your own garden just around the corner. Movies are displayed for a night out with the family. Best of all the staff are always there to help you!
I have never had a better experience renting than with Portage pointe apts. Very friendly and understanding. Any problems have been fixed within the same day. The entire staff is so sweet. The gym is nice and well kept. Pool is big and my kids love it, and they except animals too! Love it here.
Portage pointe has been a very decent place to live- easy access to the highway & super close to downtown Kent. Rent is affordable and similar to those in the area however portage pointe is one of few with a pool! My only complaint would be the maintenance response time. Good luck if something breaks- they won't replace it. They'll come and poke at and tell you it's fixed but it's not and will continue to break down. The plus side is that it's a pet- friendly location and the office staff is super friendly.
After being traumatized by another apartment, Kim and staff at portage pointe has showed me what a great apartment complex is like. Everything kim has told me has come true. I feel as if I'm living in a dream. Everybody follows the no smoking and dog rules. I have yet to see a dog run loose after 3 months. The community events such as pool parties, bingo and movie nights and the garden are awesome. The few times I have called maintenance they are here within an hour and fix it right the first time. All the neighbors are so nice and respectful and I again attribute it to the staff as they keep the apartments running smoothly so there is no need to be unhappy. I still want a mortgage but it is taking me longer than planned and I'm not even sad because this place is so great. Thanks again to Kim and everybody else at portage pointe for renewing my faith in apartment living and showing me how awesome an apartment can be
We are family and we live in portage pointe apartments since January 2012. This place is amazing place;it is kids friendly and single friendly place,as well. Portage Pointe Apartments is a safe place for everyone. We did not encounter any problem since we got here. The staff are very friendly and cooperative and helpful. I love the location of this place, too, everything you want is near you; K/mart, Aldi, Giant Eagle, Target, and many restuarants..etc. I recommend any one who wants vast apartments, strive for tranquility and the beuty of nature to explore this place and give it a chance to experience it.
For a one bedroom with pets I pay 850 utilities.its pretty expensive for such a small space, but other than that it's a decent living space. The ground sleeping could use some work too. I could move closer to work and pay 2/3 the amount I do now and get twice the space. Overall if you have to live in streetsboro Ohio, this is the cheapest rent you will find.
Portage Pointe Apartments, in Streetsboro, offers a lot for the price. I've lived here for 2 yrs. and from time-to-time I log in to apartments.com to check out the other living communities and their rates. Compared to all of the apartments I've seen, PPA offers much more for the same price as its competition. We have a clubhouse that we have access to 24 hrs. a day. There's a large work-out room with up-to-date machines and 2 televisions to watch during our workouts. There is a large party room where residents can hold events and where the residents can attend community events, such as the Ice Cream Social, that we had last Saturday. I look forward to the Halloween party this year. Last year's party was so much fun and was a great segue to meet the other residents who live here. Recently, there was a wedding reception held in the clubhouse, following a beautiful wedding ceremony outside on the patio. I like the expansive property because I can walk my dog and I'm not limited to taking the same path every day. There is lots of land, including a pond and a garden, where we can plant our own flowers and vegetables and reap the harvest together! If you love summer like I do, we have a beautiful and well-maintained swimming pool where you can unwind and relax. The water temp. is a balmy 86-degrees. The pool is a place where you can easily meet people because most in attendance are regulars. The maintenance dept. is sensitive to any issues that might arise and quick to solve any problems a resident might be experiencing. The staff at PPA is very knowledgeable and helpful. They are here to accommodate us in whatever way they can. All of the apartment buildings now have brand new washers and dryers that do a great job! Who wants to drag all of their stuff to a Laundromat when they can do a load in the convenience of their own building? But mostly, the staff and residents here are very friendly and easy to talk to. All in all, PPA is such a resident-friendly community to live in and such a bargain for the price! I hope this was helpful to everyone who is looking to rent an apartment. Best wishes!
I recently just moved to Portage Pointe Apartments in June. My mom and I had come here about a year ago to check the place out during our apartment hunt. My mom fell in love with it, but at the time it was out of my budget since we were looking for my first place. Recently I needed a new apartment quickly and when I returned to Portage Pointe Kimberly was very helpful in finding me a one bedroom as soon as possible. It even had vaulted ceilings which was an extra plus for my liking. I'd say that in my personal experience the staff is excellent with communication and are all very very helpful. The amenities offered here are numerous. They offer free Zumba and Yoga classes, the clubhouse is wifi wired and you can rent the party room at anytime, they have a 24hr fitness room which I utilize very often, the pool is open from 9am - 9pm which is convenient for most schedules in the spring and summer, they often have pool parties and little activities to promote community relationships such as movie nights and ice cream socials. It's very quiet around the complex as well. The scenery and surrounding area is very well maintained. It's a beautiful community to live in. I would like to see them create more space for the children of the Neighborhood to play in, however, it is still a very nice area. Maintenance is very good at getting their jobs done when their presence is requested. So far I have really enjoyed being a part of this community. I would definitely recommend Portage Pointe to anyone who is looking for a great place to live.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. We love the coffee bar and patio at the clubhouse. The fitness center and pool are both very new and clean. The playground area is great for kids. We love Portage Pointe!
Large and spacious apartments with up to date appliances. Really close to highway and all stores. Even though it is right off a major road the complex is very quiet and seems like you are out in the country far away from the hustle and bustle. The complete is very family and pet friendly! All of the staff are very friendly and helpful. They make sure any issues are solved and keep the entire property in the most pristine conditions. If you are looking for up to date work out room, a heated pool, easy access to streets and stores and large spacious units look no further than Portage Pointe Apartments! I am HOME!
Portage Pointe is a great place to live. I haven't lived here a year yet and I love it! The leasing office agents are always polite, friendly and helpful. The maintenance crew is quick in response to issues. The only problem I had in the apartment was when the AC unit wasn't cooling the apartment. They made sure to fix the issue and even gave me a rental credit for my inconvenience. Portage Pointe also has many amenities that make it even better. For example, a 24 hour gym, heated pool and a clubhouse where you can have parties or take FREE Zumba classes. It's conveniently located right off state route 14 which puts you close to many restaurants and shops. You will find pretty much everything you need within 5-10 minutes. They are pet friendly and the neighborhood is quiet and beautiful. It is a little more expensive than most apartments, but remember you get what you pay for so choose wisely. Happy hunting!
The buildings are very clean. The apartments are spacious. It is a very safe neighborhood. The pool is very clean. The clubhouse is very impressive. This apartment has overall exceeded our apartment-living expectations.
Hi! My name is Alex. I like that apartment because it is really spacious and nice. Also, there a big area for walking and good swimming pool. Stuff are really nice and helpful. There are good washing and drying machines. However, apartment's walls are too thin, so you can hear well your neighbors businesses. I recommended that place.
I have just recently moved in to a one bedroom on the bottom floor but have known people in the community for a couple years. Portage Pointe is by far the nicest place I have seen in the area. The living space is well-sized, open, and bright. The amenities are incredible. Free Zumba classes, easy card to do laundry, a huge pool, and a nice fitness center are just some that are available. I am finishing a college degree and was looking for a quiet place that was close to the highway. Portage Pointe is close to colleges, hospitals, restaurants, grocery stores, and car dealerships. The location is incredible! What you get for the price is astonishing. It is very family and pet friendly and the office staff is fantastic!
This was the perfect apartment to choose as a recent college graduate moving to a new state. Being new to the area, I was nervous about picking a good location and finding a community that I could feel at home with. Portage Pointe has all of that and more. It is quiet, yet well located. I have easy access to stores like Target, Home Depot, Lowe's, Walmart, a number of good restaurants, as well as a nice shopping mall not far down the road in Aurora. The apartment staff and workers are also incredibly friendly and helpful. They made the entire move in process very easy and whenever I go in to ask any questions they have been pleasant and accommodating. The staff also goes out of their way to build a community atmosphere with movie nights, pool parties, and other fun activities offered several times a month which has helped me to get to know my neighbors who are a friendly and diverse bunch. The only complaint I can think of is that the closet door in my apartment was not put on correctly when I moved in, and when I tried to coordinate a time to fix it, maintenance took about two weeks to come by and correct it. This is obviously only a minor thing however, as it was not an emergency, and when they did come, they were efficient and effective. I highly recommend Portage Pointe to anyone looking to move!
I'm currently a graduate student at one of the several local colleges/universities in the area. As such I was looking for a quiet place to live. Portage Pointe is exactly that place. When you first walk in for an interview (appt or not) the office staff was warm and receptive. We were able to tour an apartment and have all of our questions answered truthfully and thoughtfully (good or bad). When we were finally ready to move in they were willing to hold an apartment for my roommate and I due to extenuating circumstances about three weeks longer than typically excepted. From that moment on we knew that we had picked the right place to live. Regarding the apartments, there are ample parking spaces for residents and guests alike, and there are no requirements for vistor passes. It seems that the complex has been in the middle of an upgrade for sometime. The carpet and appilances in our unit were all brand new. If there is ever a problem with anything the complex is quick to troubleshoot and find a solution. For example our toilet was loose and there was a leak in the ceiling. They responded and had everything fixed within 24-48 hours. Since noise was my cheif concern I tend to be fairly sensitive to it. I can honestly say that the apartments are soundproofed for the most part. I live on the second floor out of three. Unless my upstairs neighbors are running or jumping around I don't hear them.
I have been living at Portage Pointe Apts for about 31/2-4 years. The people in the office are wonderful. If you have any questions, or problems they handle the situation immediately. If you need something fixed in the apt call the apt and they will send a maintenance person to fix the problem. If it is after hours there is a number to call and they call maintenance. It is 24/7. In the apt you have your living area, eating area, bedroom, or bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom, many closets (hallway, bedroom). And in every building you have a washer and dryer, you get a card from the office and you put money on it. You have to use a debit card, and you do all this in the beautiful exercise room they have right by the office. Yes the exercise room is free to Tennant's. They also have a beautiful pool area , you are allowed 1 guest. Well I love it here and I know you would too!
The moment my boyfriend and I drove on to the premises we started to fall in love. The atmosphere here is so inviting and welcoming and that's not even including the staff. We wanted to live here so badly, but no apartments were currently available. The staff went out of their way to get an apartment available for us and they finally did; keeping us informed the whole time! The buildings are kept up to date, pet friendly, new outdoor pool with lounge chairs and tables, an area to garden, work out equipment and area are very clean, they offer Yoga and Zumba to residents and everyone in the area is incredibly friendly. We live in a 2 bedroom, 1 bath and the apartment is so spacious. The location is 15 minutes at most from Kent and about 35-40 minutes from Cleveland. We feel right at home and we couldn't be happier.
I have moved in here for more than two years. I really like the H building because it faces toward the whole community and has the very impressive view especially when you moved in at the third floor. This community has its own pool, 24 hour fitness center, volleyball court and lots of parking area. Staff here are incredibly helpful. They did a good job for providing the information, taking care of the packages and keeping the whole community nice and clean. They hold the yoga classes, zumba classes for years. This is the best apartment I met since so far.
I moved into Portage Pointe Apts last year in January after moving out of my grandma's home in Aurora. I needed to find a decent place to live that wasn't expensive, and was close to Aurora, Solon etc. I looked in Aurora and nearby but did not find anything that I could afford monthly since I do live alone. I was glad to stumble upon Portage Pointe in Streetsboro. This place is pretty nice and I do recommend it. The apartments are clean when you move in, they are in good shape and I have barely needed to make a lot of maintenance calls to come fix something. They have updated washers and dryers in the buildings now where you get a card from the office and can put money on it from your credit/debit card. This is really more convenient than having to get a roll of quarters from the bank lol. I like also how they have a 24 hour workout center that you can go to whenever you want. After hours though, you do need a card to get in. It's easy though you just scan it outside and you're set. The only thing that bothers me is how they have not fixed two of the workout machines that broke a couple months ago. I thought they atleast would have gotten around to it by now. Anyways, they also have a nice outdoor pool(which you need a pool pass for, but no big deal). This place also has a great area to walk/run to get a workout in when you need it. Since I like to walk a lot/run when I don't go to the gym, I find it very convenient as well. The clubhouse has two nice computers you can use with free wifi and some nice couches to sit on as well if you wanted to use your own computer. It has free coffee and hot water for tea with cream and sugar nearby to suit your needs also. I like how they have Zumba and Yoga during the week as well. Especially if you don't want to go to the gym and need another way to get that exercise in. Lastly, the staff is very nice and friendly and they will help you out with anything you need, or questions that you have. Kimberly and Jen(the leasing specialists)are really nice too and it's very easy to talk to them. In the end, I do like this place, and all that it has to offer.
This is a great location to be! There are two very well maintained parks within 10 minutes of the complex, Kent State and all of its attractions are a short 15 minute drive, and there are plenty of restaurants within 5 minutes. The amenities offered are wonderful, including an outdoor pool and a gym with great equipment. They also host a variety of events free to the Portage Pointe community which include: outdoor movie nights, holiday parties, craft nights for children, and even excersize classes! If you like to garden they have an outdoor area where you can grow your own herbs/vegetables for a small extra fee. Its a wonderful complex to be a part of!
Living in Portage Pointe was great. Offered many ammenties including pool and great 24 hour fitness center. Offers free Yoga and Zumba as well. Also sponsored many community activities, however I very rarely went. The staff, especially Kim, was always very nice. I had a 1-Bedroom that was very spacious. My only complaints were my neighbors which is out of apartment complex control (just mean not too noisy or anything) and the price I paid almost $800 for my 1 bedroom unfrunished apartment. This was just too much for me coming straight out of college and having no roommates.
After being traumatized by another company, portage pointe has renewed my faith. Everybody obeys the no smoking and pet rules. I have yet to see a loose dog. The events such as pool parties, movie nights and bingo are fantastic. The neighbors are so friendly. The apartment is very spacious and the buildings are kept very clean. There is always plenty of parking even if I come in late. The few times I have called maintennace, they are here within an hour and fix it right the first time. I am still trying to get a mortgage but I'm not even sad it is taking me longer than I planned. That's how amazing this place is. Thanks again to everybody at portage pointe for showing me how nice an apartment can be when it is run correctly.
We have lived here for going on two years, in one of the 3 Bdrm apartments. We moved here for the better neighborhoods and closeness to family. Cons: .A few things were promised in the beginning that were supposed to be met within the first year and never were, like the playground replacement, and it was stated that rent would not be increased all the time. This was something i asked in the beginning because like most folks we live on a tight budget. The playground looks to be underway now, but still not completed, and just from word of mouth, it appears rent will be increasing again this year for us. The landscaping within the first year was pretty bad, but they have since gotten a new crew, they seem to be handling it better. Our electric Bill tends to be on the high side, but the gas bill is pretty low so it evens out. for both gas and electric we average about 150 a month a bit higher in the summer with the AC. Water is included in the monthly rent its actually $20 bucks additional. The website states that its free?? Pros: The three bdrm apartments are spacious. We live in a top floor unit with vaulted ceilings with a window facing the wooded area towards the end of the culdesac. My daughter loves the pool area, and it is always very well maintained. The folks in our building are nice, and we have not run into any issues. For the most part everyone is peaceful. We do not have a dog or cat, but live in a building with others that do and at times you wouldn't even know it. The halls are well kept. The onsite maintenance crew is really helpful and nice to work with. The staff in the office has been nothing but pleasant and helpful. They have plenty of functions for all the tenants to attend. Unfortunately, i work full time and cant make the weekly ones like Bingo. They offer some free fitness classes as well has a mini gyml, and have a nice room that is free to rent to tenants that will hold about 50 ppl. I hope that we will be able to stay here a few years more until we can afford a home, in the area, but if the rent continues to increase we may have to leave. Hope this review was helpful.
My girlfriend and I were looking from an upgrade from where we were at due to new jobs and a bigger budget. We chose Portage Pointe. Having now lived here for a little while, I feel I can safely list the pros and cons for anyone searching for a place. Cons: 1. The walls aren't very thick so you tend to hear what other people are doing all around you, but that's also sort of the nature of living in a complex. If you're big on privacy, that may be a big con. 2. Maintenance issues; in our few months we have had to have our air conditioner be fixed twice and it took a couple days to get to it both times. The laundry machines have broken down and been fixed multiple times after having to wait a few days in between (bad when you really need laundry done!). The pool was closed for half the summer due to maintenance so paying for that as an amenity was kind of upsetting, but it is open now. Wiring in the apartment is shoddy (according to a Time Warner maintenance tech) and we don't get half of the channels in our bedroom that we're supposed to. That part is probably the biggest bummer of all because we were looking forward to finally having cable in our bedroom. 3. Dumpster location; this may seem like nitpicking but it's a bit of a hike away from the apartment and if you have multiple bags that need going out, the only feasible way to prevent multiple trips is to drive it over. Pros: 1. New appliances & lots of space; I can't speak for every apartment but when we moved in we had brand new appliances (refrigerator, stove and dishwasher) as well as brand new carpeting. Additionally, there is tons of closet space and very large rooms 3. Very pet friendly; if you're a dog or a cat person, you'll love it here because of how inviting they make it for pets. 4. The rental team; with the exception of maybe a couple members of the staff, if you have any problems whatsoever, you can immediately report them and it is usually sorted out fairly quickly. They are always willing to take time out to help show you something that you need help with or to solve a problem you're having with your apartment. 5. The pool; despite the maintenance issue that I considered to be a con, the pool is very well kept up and usually only has medium traffic so you're not shoulder-to-shoulder with every other resident. For the money you could probably rent a house. If you're ready to jump into a house, I'd say go for it. Otherwise, Portage Pointe is a good choice.
I have lived in Portage Pointe for the past year and had nothing but a wonderful experience thus far. Being a young woman living on my own, safety is always something I consider when looking for a place to live. I have always felt extremely safe in this community and proud to call it my home. They have a great workout facility with a variety of machines and free weights that is easily accessible at any time. Weekly wellness classes are offered including Zumba and Yoga as well as other special events throughout the year including picnics and even Cavs watch parties! Everyone here, especially the staff, has always been friendly, welcoming, and eager to attend to resident's needs. The facilities are clean and maintenance responds to requests in a timely manner. Laundry facilities are in each building or in individual apartments (depending on model) and easy to use. Furry family members (both dogs and cats) are also welcomed. I recently renewed my lease for my second year and am very happy I made that choice!
The community, the staff and the apartment themselves are amazing. Everyone is super nice, it is in a great location; I can go to grocery stores and restaurants within a 5 minute drive, or if the weather is decent, I can even go to Strickland's ice cream in a 10 minute walk. ( Helps me burn the calories from the ice cream).Driving to and from work is short and I can get right into Cleveland by taking 480 from my apartment. The apartment themselves are clean and spacious. They have a pool and a gym facility you can use. They have yoga and zumba classes and other community events. I recommend it to anyone who needs to go to Kent, Hiram or Cleveland for work. Absolutely wonderful.
After living in a very small apartment for 2 years this was a great upgrade. Other then a few maintenance problems here and there which is the norm, all is well. Pool, central air, and on site management is all very accommodating. A little pricey, but very spacious.
I love living here. It's close to restaurants and stores. It's very quiet, there are at least two dogs in my building and I very rarely even hear them just see them outside. The staff is very friendly and always helping out. The apartments are spacious, lot's of closet space which is great. Always plenty of parking right outside my door.
