Property Ratings at Portage Towers Apartments
I contacted Portage Trail about a temporary rental as I was coming to the area for 3 months to help take care of my elderly mother, who lived nearby. The mgr was extremely pleasant and assured me that they had corporate rentals and that they did them all the time. She told me to think about it like a hotel. She was very helpful through initial logistics and my late night arrival. There were towels and bedding, but no toilet paper in the apt. Then it took 3 weeks to get a mail key. Then it took even longer to set up the door buzzer (which never ended up actually working anyway). The there was a smoker on my floor (in a non-smoking building), which required me to buy an air purifier. The policy for the cleaning of the apt was not clear (like a hotel? Not really). She eventually supplied cleaning supplies so I could keep it tidy, which I did. I got permission to move the furniture around...only to find about 20 empty water bottles and major carpet stains hidden under the furniture. Any time I would make any request, I had to ask 2,3, or 4 times...and each time it was like the first time: she had no memory of my previous requests. But the worst was that I didnt get a copy of the lease until I contacted her about exit logistics (key hand off, etc). I THEN learned that she expected me to notify her that I was leaving in writing before 30 days of my exit....which I would have known, had I been given a lease but I had assumed it was clear I was there for 3 months. She apologized and told me to backdate the lease to when I arrived and she would prorate/refund. Stupid me I did. Because she was SO NICE! When I contacted her the next month, she said it was coming. When it didnt she said I was wrong and was supposed to have given her written notice 30 days before. I told her it was a given from the beginning that this was a 3 month rental. She then said she would do "whatever she needed to do to make it right" since she hadn't informed me of the rules. She said she would be sending me a partial refund. I never received anything and then she ghosted me.
I moved to this complex from out of state which was already stressful as it was, but it was my first experience renting a place on my own. This was the perfect "introduction" to the world of apartments. The management staff always got back to me quickly and helped me not to worry about my move, and when a terrible plumbing accident occurred while I was out of town for work, maintenance was there within 30 minutes working on and solving the problem. It took a bit of time to fix, but they were always checking in and making sure that I was alright. The neighbors are always so kind and the area this building is in just can't be beat. They have some of the most fair prices for the area and you never have to worry about parking. I can't say enough good things about this place 11/10 would highly recommend to anyone who's moving to this area.
I lived at Portage Towers for 2 years and found it to be an ideal living space! The front office staff are extremely friendly, helpful, accommodating, and honest. On one such occasion they pulled my leasing record to ensure my current contract was fair. They also gave me a heads up every time my lease was about to expire--other complexes in the area don't provide this courtesy. Maintenance staff are always present on site, and they helped me quickly if I had any issues with private or public facilities. The grounds are well-kept and this complex works HARD to make this space great--and it shows! I loved my 1BR/1BA apartment and enjoyed sitting on my balcony in the evenings. Despite it being a large complex with people coming and going, I did not experience much trouble with noise. Finally, I think the location of Portage Towers is unbeatable! I was close to Akron and major interstates that made getting around NE Ohio a breeze. I'd stay longer if my work didn't call me away. Thank you Portage Towers for making Cuyahoga Falls such a lovely home for me!
Portage tower apartments are in a convenient part of town. Everything is close. Yet it is in a special spot that has little traffic. Getting on the highway in the morning is a block away, 2 blocks if you're going north. Howe avenue takes 8 minutes. Giant eagle market district about 10 minutes. Natatorium, 7 minutes. The convenience of the location was a big selling point for me. Also, I don't have to worry about my vehicle being broken into as the whole parking lot is monitored with cameras. And those types that would do that don't seem to be around. That can be an issue at some of the places around here, but not portage towers. The staff are very friendly. They'll listen to any issues that you have and fix them to the best of their ability, in a timely manner. They really take pride in their work and accommodations. I haven't had any issues with bugs. Whereas some places around here you have to worry about that. The apartments are nice. The pool is nice, the laundry facilities are nice, the gym is functional. The price point is fair. I've enjoyed my time here. Whether you're looking for a first place or a long stay, portage towers is the apartment complex that I would recommend. I am a current resident and have been here for 3 years.
I lived at this property for exactly 1 year & about 3 months into my residency, I discovered bed bugs. After informing the property, the blame was flipped on the resident & I told that I brought them in. The complex had a very low quality exterminator come & spray the perimeter of the unit but I hired a local professional exterminator to come to the unit & examine the unit. The local professional informed me that the bugs were coming from the ceiling of my unit based on their findings from holes in the sealing. After speaking with multiple residents, I discovered that bed bugs have been a repeated issue around the property. Trash overflows in the rear of every building, it’s absolutely gross. The surface lot barely gets plowed in the winter time making it a huge safety hazard for residents. Elevators regularly go out of service in both buildings. The entire property is ran by a very rude owner named Mark. Previous low quality reviews of this property have been removed by management because they don’t want perspective residents to know the truth about what goes on at the property. Please save yourself the hassle, don’t even consider living at this property.
I've lived at Portage Towers for over a year and I have to say I am pleasantly surprised at the wonderful community, I've have become a part of. The unit I moved into was beautifully remodeled, spacious and the closet space is outstanding! The maintenance staff is on top of any issues I have and always friendly and effeciant. I'm happy and comfortable calling Postage Towers my home!
I wouldn't say it is the best apartment, however, at least it is the one what you paid for. The rent is inexpensive, the staffs are quite responsible(usually fix any issues in my room in few days). Right now, I am happy with two elevators working at the same time in 2200 building.
Plenty of updating to both apartment buildings here has been done over the last few years.....I've been a tenant here for a while, and the amount of work that has been put into this place both inside and out shows! Some of the kitchens and bathrooms in the apartments have recently been updated with new cabinets, countertops, tubs, sinks, flooring, toilets etc. There are newly added vending machines in both apartment buildings. There have been upgrades to the fitness centers with new carpeting and flat screen TV's. Some of the hallways in both apartment buildings have already been painted with a new color scheme. The stairwells between floors now have new brighter lights, and if the electricity goes out the emergency lights come on. The laundry rooms here are both equipped with high efficiency washers and oversized dryers. The lobby area in both buildings have been redone with new furniture, carpeting, pictures, and tables for a welcome feeling when you enter. The location is ideal here. Shops and restaurants are all close in every direction - some even within walking distance along the nearby riverfront. There is a park right across the street here with a playground and ball field. There is also a METRO bus pickup conveniently located outside the south apartment building that runs daily if needed. Many pizza places will deliver here. Deliveries by FedEx, UPS, and USPS are also common throughout the day. There have been improvements on the outside as well, such as newly paved entrances to the apartment buildings, a central well-lit parking garage, and up to date HD security system cameras. There is plenty of outdoor parking here. The bushes and trees have been trimmed down and you will even occasionally see rabbits, birds, and squirrels making their homes here as well. A nice BIG BLUE pool is here to cool off in or simply lay out and get tan for the summer. Stop in for a tour of the property and you will see! The office staff here is friendly and will answer any questions you have. Maintenance work orders are addressed in a timely manner. Cleaning is done on a daily basis - sometimes even on Saturdays....Like the title says, "THE TIME IS NOW!" - the work has been done here.....All you need to do is move your belongings in one of these rooms and enjoy your stay like I have.
I moved in 4 years ago and have to say I'm very impressed with the area as well as the Staff here, everybody is so nice. If something gets broken the maintenance team get it fixed, on the same day you call !! When my dishwasher broke they replaced it with a brand new one and they are always doing upgrades to make this place better. With the well light parking lots. security doors and cameras I feel very safe living here. I think the setting here is just beautiful also.
Portage Towers has been my home for many years. Repair calls are addressed by the end of the day. The staff is very customer service oriented and helpful. Security cameras are definitely helpful as well. Improvements have been made over the last several years under the leadership of the present owner. I am pleased to be living here.
The apartment is roomy, but the parking stinks, My car has been hit 3 times in 3 months and they can't seem to find them or it takes too long to look at cameras video, 9 if you have a nice car inspect it everyday for damage, these people here can not drive ,People here must have 2 cars in family, because nobody moves> I work from 5 am to sometimes 5 pm and the same cars are parked in the good spaces by the door, maybe move 1 space, have to park in no mans land and walk the length of the building to get to door, I also had my welcome sign stolen from my door, I have it for over 30 years, it lasted 6 moths here
I have lived here for about 7 years. Overall, my experience has been very good. Maintenance is pretty much on top of things and if something does break, they almost always have it fixed by the end of the day. My apartment has older cabinets, but for what I pay compared to other complexes, I feel like I am getting a lot for my money. The apartment is big with a lot of walk in closet space and it is very quite. There are cameras everywhere so security seems like a big priority. The company is putting a lot of money into the building and I know I can get a new kitchen, but the rent is higher, but I am happy with what I have.
We've been here about 3 months and I have to say the staff is so helpful and friendly. With all the places we looked at and could've picked, we're very happy with the decision to move here. We will gladly recommend this to everyone we know looking for a new home.
I moved into Portage Towers about 2 months ago. I was hesitant because of the poor reviews on Google.com. However, I am very happy that I decided to move-in. I had a minor issue with my patio blinds when I moved in and maintenance came over to take care of it within minutes of me calling the office. The people in the office were very prompt to take care of me. I also love the location. I work in Akron and route 8 is just a block away and it makes for a simple commute in the mornings and coming home in the evenings. I also love the fact that I barely hear my neighbors. The last place I lived the walls were so thin, I could hear my neighbors go to the bathroom..gross! I am excited for summer to get here so I can use the swimming pool and walk to downtown Cuyahoga Falls.
