Hello. We find this feedback very concerning and hope we can learn more about your experience. Please give our office a call directly at (813) 979-0900 so we can address these claims. Thank you and we hope to speak with you soon.
Roaches, roaches, roaches! I’ve lived here for two years and I can’t say that I’ve gone a month without seeing at least one roach or palmetto bug. The staff refuse to help or take any responsibility for it besides sending in pest control, which has barely made a difference. The complex is old, dirty, and barely taken care of besides lawn care in front of the buildings. I’ve never been so catfished when I compare the building where they have the model and the rest of the apartments. After years of complaints from the residents, Portofino is only now updating and taking care of the property by repainting and cleaning the dark, chipped, and frankly sad looking breezeways. Because of this maintenance, they raised the rent over 30 PERCENT for the next renewals. Outraged.
Overpriced. Don’t waste your money. They don’t respond or answer the phones most of the time.
Everything was great when looking and leasing and moving in. But if you have any sorts of problem definitely make sure you don’t get ahold on Kiyanah, her attitude is something else. Also very thin walls and horrible neighbors. They don’t deal with problems promptly you have to keep on them to get some help. Calls and emails takes a few times to get a response. They make residents feel so unwelcome and unwanted. Can’t wait to move out. Apartments are nice and updated and location is great that’s the only positive. Otherwise I don’t enjoy living here :) Go somewhere else where you’re appreciated

2 days ago I opted for a look and lease, glad I did. Kiyanah was my "leasing agent." I came back three times . While Kiyanah was cheerful she failed to follow through. The following account was after paying for the look and lease option. I left a voicemail on a Monday, no reply, on Tuesday I sent an email, no response. I called on Thursday, giving her another full business day to get back with me, but she didn't so I called and got a hold of her. I visited three times. My first visit was met with trash strew across the entry way to the apt across from my potential apt. Not Kiyanah's fault, but noted. The gate to the opposing property to the leasing office was left open for weeks, where my potential apt resides. It was explained that maintenance didn't want to deal with a few tenants that supposedly abused the security gate, so the solution was to leave the gates open. When I pressed Kiyanah as to the logic behind such an approach I was met with a shrug. Standing water, as noted in other reviews is indeed a problem. On my third visit when Kiyanah went to open the door to the apt and the dead bolt came out, seriously. I can appreciate that this was out of Kiyanah"s hands, but she completely failed to follow up on the concern despite her indicating that Ester would follow up with me. The lack of professionalism was a "no" for me, even though I am out $200. Also, please don't respond to this with a canned response. I shared this verbally with Keyanah, she seemed bewildered. If I can't depend on the leasing agent to follow through before I sign the lease then what incentive do I have to sign the lease? This was my honest experience. Furthermore the pictures seen on most websites don't represent 90% of the apartments on location. You can expect carpet and dated appliances. If you want the updated units expect to pay a premium. That said I would not recommend this apartment complex

This is by far the worst apartment complex I’ve ever lived in. When I moved in my AC broke three times in four days. Until I finally told them that I wanted out of my lease and if I had to get an attorney I would just to be able to move out so I can have AC working properly it was finally fixed correctly. A couple of the maintenance guys are really good at their job and they know what they’re doing but unfortunately the office staff and managers are terrible at their job and they treat their residents like garbage. I definitely will not be moving renewing my lease at this apartment complex. I definitely don’t recommend this apartment complex.
Love the apartment but hate the roaches... Apartment, landscaping and pool are great but the roaches are out of control.
My boyfriend and I had our lease signed for about 2 months before our move in date and were told we could move in on the 5th. We arrive that morning and they not only have no idea who we are, they tell us we aren't supposed to move in until the 15th and claimed it was a typo; even though the woman who helped us told us in an email, verbally, and on the lease the move in date was the 5th.They told us they had another apartment available and showed it to us so we could still move on that day. Everything seemed fine and we decided to sign a new lease for the new apartment. (this apartment was more expensive than the one we originally signed for, they should have cut the loss but they didn't) We start to get everything moved in and I started to notice my throat feels like it's closing and I just can't breathe. I dismiss it as dust and dander(from cat hair) from our furniture which we cleaned. I keep popping claritin hoping they'd help and they didn't. I slept for 5 hours that night and that was the only night I slept there. I asked some friends what it could be and everyone said to check for mold, sure enough we found mold throughout the AC unit and air ducts. I went into the office to inform them of this so they could hire someone to come out and clean it professionally and they told me it wasn't a priority, they would probably get to it Monday. I told them I couldn't breathe and I even brought in a plastic bag with a paper towel with mold on it I they still told me there was nothing they could do. The woman even told me that "maybe if I get a doctors note we can do something about it." and "it was probably just allergies and they would go away." The next day my boyfriend brought his mom, step-dad, and my dad to the office so they could better discuss solutions since neither of us have ever rented and all of our parents were extremely upset over the situation. They gave us less than a week to find a new place and move to get a full refund of the money we spent to move in. Other than the mold, terrible staff, and inexperienced maintenance, like most peoples reviews have said, the walkways FLOOD when it rains. The stairs become insanely slippery, the sidewalks turn into rivers, and all the grass areas turn into swamp. Not to mention the roof is leaking and my boyfriend could hear water dripping inside the walls when it was raining. I wouldn't recommend moving here. Especially for the money and area, you can find a lot better.
The Apartments are spacious, well maintained, quiet, and in a safe community with a lot of amenities. They are extremely pet friendly and we haven't had any complaints since we moved in which was back in April 2012. I would highly recommend them to anyone. We're close to restaurants and shops and the highway.
The portofino apartments has been a good place to live. Its location is convenient since it is near Bruce B Downs Blvd which is filled with restaurants, grocery stores, and all other services that someone can ever need. I was new to the area and found out about these apartments online. The management office has been helpful in getting me settled and ensuring that all paperwork was in order. They are also very responsive to any questions which I had. The maintenance dept is very efficient and are quick to attend to any maintenance requests submitted with minimal interruptions. They try to cater to the needs of the tenant. The portofino has a pool recently updated gym and a tennis court which adds entertainment value to the apartments. Parking is also readily available.
My roommate and I have been living here for over a year now and have enjoyed our time here very much. The area is extremely nice compared to the University area (which, as USF students, is what we're used to dealing with), and the distance between the complex and Publix is a gigantic plus for me as I do not drive - it takes me less than 10 minutes to walk there. The office staff is very friendly and we have had very few problems with the office and maintenance staff. Our work orders have been fulfilled very promptly. The biggest complaint we have had so far is that, compared to the student apartments we're used to, there are a lot of families living here, and as such, a lot of children. There have definitely been days where the loudness of some of our neighbor's children have gotten in the way of our studying, and the school buses dropping children off at the end of the day backs up traffic quite a bit. Overall, our experience with this complex has been very positive, and we're looking to stay here at least until we're done with our college programs.
Living here literally puts you in the midst of everything you can think of but still have your peace and tranquility when you go home. There is access to all kinds of eatery from McDonalds to Ruby Tuesdays to Hibachi grills like Koizi's. Walmart, Target, and Publix are no more than a ten minute drive from the area. The apartments themselves are nice. I live in the bigger one bedroom floor plan situated on the third floor and its pretty peaceful. I cant hear residents like I used to at my prior complex. The ceilings are high which gives the apartment an elegant feel. This is also a gated community which was one of my needs when apartment hunting and I haven't seen it broken yet. My maintenance request usually gets done within two business days I would say, but I haven't had many issues so far. Oh yeah and there's two pools, one of each side of the neighborhood! Definitely a plus!!
Everyone is kind and more than willing to help. Requests are handled promptly and the property is kept nice and clean. The updates to the leasing office are gorgeous!
I have been living here for a month now. I would rate this place a 6 or 7 out of 10. The good: 1. Location-right off Bruce b downs blvd, its close to malls, supermarkets, fastfood etc.plus its a bit private due to the New tampa blvd you have to take. 2. Semi Modern apartments- The apartments are a bit.modern. They have the standard ac/washer dryer and a lot of electric outlets and the decor is.simple but pleasant. 3. Quiet( for now)- The apartment complex up to know seems to be to quiet, but I might have quiet neighbors. 4.Parking- There is a lot of parking for reaidents, the only downside is that they are not marked. First come first serve. 5. Price-For less than $900 in this area? A The BAD 1.Resident welcoming- I would say they need to improve welcoming new residents. On my first day I signed some papers they gave me the key and that was it. No one showed me the complex, the ammeneties, no one took me to my unit etc. And all of this was after driving 9 hours since i came out of state. 2.Apartment cleanliness- My unit was dirty and the fridge was disgusting. It seemed no one cleaned after the last residents left. The bathub has permanent black stains and some window blinds did not work. 3. Mail- Mail is delivered to an outside area and any packages are delivered to the office for you to pickup. 4. Complex access- We do have controlled access but this is fake security. The gates are so slow that anyone can follow behind you. Also, the pedestrian gates are ALWAYS open. Ive seen some shady people come on the weekends to use the pool and walk around the complex and leave. 5. Management(Kinda)- While they have addressed most of my issues, you feel that you are bothering them every time you go and sometimes there is no tenant in the office and they are back in their offices talking and laughing while you are there waiting for a while. Overall: While there are somethings they can improve on, I would say this is a good place to live for the price and would reccomend it to a family member. If you are not sure I would say go for it.
Hello my name is Lance and I just relocated my family from NYC to Tampa. I have to say we looked at so many Apts online and was disappointed when we saw them in person. I don't wanna name any buy they were horrible,I can say we were getting a little discouraged, Until we came across the Portofino. I have to say from the application process to the move-in the customer service was TOP NOTCH!!! I would definitely recommend the Portofino to other renters.
Our neighbors are ok but they change often. The basketball court is now used for people to do there morning walks do to no rim or net on a one sided court. Just the backboard is there now. The fencing surrounding the court is broke and in some places missing. There is dog feces everywhere so when we have a lot of rain or very sunny days the smell is so bad we don't open the balcony doors and my kids don't go out. The pool area on my side is not well kept and the smell of feces doesn't help. When you place a maintenance call sometimes you have to wait for days if they feel it's not urgent enough due to the lack of help. We are not super happy but the kids really like there school.
I really love my apartment, which is a 2 bedroom/1 bathroom unit that I found for the same price as most 1/1s. It's in a great area, the staff has been realy wonderful, and I love the space that I have in my apartment. Definitely check it out if you're moving to the Tampa area!
Me and my wife really love our apartment its the best place we ever lived having free rent for life or even a year would really help me and my wife with our 2 month old daughter really hope you pick us God bless
My wife and I have lived here for a couple of years. It's in a nice neighborhood, and the apartment itself is a good size. The maintenance crew isn't the best.
I love living here at Portofino!! Everything is close by, Publix, gas station, Walmart, lots of restaurants, etc. It's nice and quiet. Occasionally , we get to see deer frolicking in the forest behind us. Our apartment is wide open and spacious. We have a decent size kitchen and dining area. The bathrooms are big but I think I Would rather the bedrooms be slightly bigger. But the bedrooms are a decent size. The master bedroom is big enough for a King size bed. Feels like home!!!????
Very clean and nice, attentive office. I enjoy living here
This community offers the best amenities in the area and works diligently to maintain the buildings and grounds. The newly landscaped gardens are exquisite. It is a pleasure living here.
The Portofino Apartments are pretty nice to live in. The rooms are very spacious and the location is very convenient for me because I can walk to work. However, the upkeep for the inside of the apartments are not so good. Every time I need something fixed, I go to the office and let them know about the problem. Though they are very good about sending someone to fix it, they don't fix it all the way. So every month I have to call them and tell them to fix the same problem that I just had. The sidewalks are always flooded in front of my building and it makes it difficult to walk to my apartment. Other than that; the people are really friendly, the outside is always clear of trash, and the neighborhood is friendly.
Great place to live! Very affordable! Ask for Tiffany!
I've been living in this apartment complex in the same apartment for a year and a half no. most of the staff are coming honest genero but you always have one that you have to not work wit. The maintenance men that they had prior were extremely lazy I had work orders in four months. The numinous guys are wonderful and get things done rig that they had prior were extremely lazy I have work orders in 4 months. The new maintenance guys are wonderful and get things done right. It's Alright!*
The community is beautiful. Friendly staff and neighbors. Great area and great schools nearby. The apartments are beautiful inside. Definitely has a luxury feel. I'm very happy I live here and would recommend this community to my family and friends.
These apartments are in a great location, with everything you could possibly need around you. They always maintain the grass and landscaping so it always looks beautiful out. The environment is very quiet and a pleasure to live in. Id recommend these apartments to anyone.
I love the location of my apartment. It is a single woman's dream. It is located in the heart of New Tampa, a safe suburban neighborhood, and its in a gated community. I moved here from NJ in 2012, and I have slept like a baby since the first night. I also love the fact that the mall, banks, supermarkets, and a nice variety of restaurants are all within 5-10 minutes. The interstate is about 3 minutes away, so getting to Orlando, or any of the local beaches is only 30-45 minutes away. The grounds are well cared for, and it reminds me of a resort. My apartment is clean and spacious, and affordable...I love coming home everyday!
Hmmm is ok to live here for the most part staff are very nice and the community is very quiet ,, 4 stars I give this complex ,,
I've been living at the Portofino apartments for almost three years now. The office staff are welcoming, friendly and consistently helpful. The complex is located near I-75 which means easy traveling. You'll also find a supermarket and drugstore at walking distance. I love it here
An apartment is more then just a mini house. These apartments have a variety of activities to offer. They have a gym, swimming pool, tennis, and basketball court. It's the perfect place to get unplugged from your electronics and have a splash. The staff and employees are welcoming and nice, if there is a problem with the apartment, just inform them and they will arrive as soon as they can. It's also impossible to not find a parking spot, not many apartments have good parking space, but these apartments do. On the whole, you can walk to one of the best plazas in under ten minutes! You can get your groceries, drop by the bank, get a haircut, eat out, and much more!
The one bedroom apartment is the best priced in the area and is walking distance to the Publix, Bank of America and CVS. A five minute ride from I-75, the property is well kept and parking is not a problem. The apartment has crown molding and an accent wall making it very homey. Three stars given as kitchen appliances and bath fixtures could stand improvement, and maintenance requests fulfilled more promptly.
Portofino Apartments. At first blush, the name made me think of a fancy resort. I have been a resident here for two years. The staff members are helpful, very friendly and most importantly, they love people and their jobs. The apartment complex is located at walking distance from a Publix supermarket and a CVS pharmacy, you’ll also find several restaurants nearby. The best part about the location of these apartments, is that Portofino is conveniently located near I-75, which makes traveling to work or out of town to visit family a breeze. If you are looking for a new home in Tampa, stop by the Portofino Apartments; I’m certain you won’t regret it.
I've lived in this community for three years. Maintenance is quick to respond and the grounds are kept very clean. The clubhouse and gym are newly renovated and the pool area had been updated with new chairs and a gas grill. All of the leasing agents are helpful. I've lived in many apartments over the years and this community is definitely above average. The community is close to the grocery story and everything I need is within 5 miles. The interior of the apartment is clean and up to date with new appliances including washer and dryer.
This apartment complex I Will say that is not the best place that I ever lived but also not the worse there are things that can be improved to make it better one of them are the response when a maintenance problems need to be fix.
I have rented other apartments in the area and find this apartment a little less nice than most. The apartment is divided into two halves across the street from one another. The office is on the North side of Cross Creek Rd. that side of the complex is much nicer the gym, pool and office have been just remodeled. It seems they keep the grass nicer and keep the trash compacter under control. However, I live on the south side of Cross Creek Rd. and our side has outdated gym as well as outdated pool area. I feel this side is kept up less. The drainage is terrible so if it rains a lot then you can not even use the sidewalk because they become under water, to get to the trash compactor you have to go into the roadways to get to the compacter without walking through the water. The trash compactor on this side is always super full which seems to attract a lot of pests like flies and racoons. The maintenance staff is very quick on responding and are very friendly. The cell reception is terrible in my building. I did reach out to my cell carrier to get a signal booster but they said you need at least one bar to boost the signal which I do not get and they are aware of this problem but because it is butted up to a wildlife preserve it blocks the signal so I have to use my wifi calling all the time in my apartment. Overall the office staff is good friendly and helpful. I would recommend this apartment complex if you live on the side where the office is.
Portofino has been great to me! I have lived here for almost 10 years. I moved into a 2 bedroom 1 bath by myself. Three years later and engaged we started to look at townhouses and homes in the area. After 3 months we just decided to move into a larger 2 bedroom 2 bath. After getting married we have thought about getting a house, but this has filled all our needs. Very happy here! Have everything we need with non of the hassle!
I have been living with room mates in rented houses for the last year and a half, and I've been looking to move into a new apartment. I searched and searched for a place that felt welcoming, was well kept, and had amenities in which I could enjoy. When I came to Portofino apartments I was welcomed right away by a lady in the front desk. She didn't play around and asked me what I was looking for, my price range, and the amenities I would enjoy. She explained all the options as well as others that she thought I would enjoy. Apart from telling me of the different styles of apartments they had available she took me around in their golf cart and showed me three available apartments. By driving around and seeing the entire facility I could tell the maintenance was well kept, the grounds were all very clean. In all three apartments that I checked out, they were all very clean. There was very little dust. the closets were clean, it smelt clean, and was exactly what I was looking for. In order to be approved I need a credit check and proof of previous residence. Both of which were expedited and came back quickly. I was approved less than a week later and moved in a week after I toured. I've been here for just over a month and I still believe that I made a perfect choice. The pool is always clean, the gym stays clean, I use the business center often to print stuff for work, and the grounds stay well kept. It is close to the interstate which is great for me and best of all I'm walking distance from my favorite ice cream shop!
The staff is AWESOME! Maintenance is superb. The location is excellent The community amenities are great for me. Very reasonably priced resort style spacious apartment with updated appliances and amenities. Water pressure is never low. I love my apartment it is pest free, my neighbors are quiet and very friendly. The community itself is a beautiful, gated and well maintained, ample parking with optional garage space. Pets are welcome and they even have a pet park. I have been here for 2 years and would recommend Portofino Apartments to anyone wanting a resort experience.
I Absolutely love my apartment at Portofino. I have a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment. It's spacious yet cozy. I love my enclosed patio. At any given time, I can watch deer frolic in the woods. It's very quiet and peaceful , which is very important to me after a day's work. It's a great location. Everything you need is close by, Publix, Walmart , restaurants , etc!. It's great to run, walk , or jog in the neighborhood. Everybody is really sweet!! And the Leasing office staff is the greatest!!! LOVE Portofino Apartments!!
Been here for two years and you can tell they are striving to make improvements. Somewhat timely in requests for maintenance although some things don't get fixed properly. Went through renovations, a somewhat messy transition, painted the floor in our hallway one day while I was on my lunch break and had to track paint in my apartment. Staff is getting better and a bit more professional but have never had any major problems with the place. Great place to live but the rent keeps going up while the apartment stays the same. Broken dishwasher won't drain properly, have had it looked at 3 times at least still no change and a low water pressure. It seems they are raising price just because of Location and not amenities. Run down basketball court with one hoop.
Great view of pond and fountain! If you face the reserve it's probably even more peaceful, relaxing, and private. Building and parking lots are well maintained and garages are available. Parking can get cramped, so you may sometimes have to park further from your building. Garages also have a reserved space, so you really get 2 parking spots of your own. There is extra parking lot storage available for jet skis and such and is well lit at night. EVERYTHING is nearby... good schools, shopping, grocery, movie theater, great restaurants, and easy highway access if you want to go further. Central to everything in Tampa Bay. Only 30 minutes to airport and about an hour to Pass-A-Grille Beach *West), or Orlando (East). You do have to take your own trash to the compactor at the front of the complex. Most people sit it on their car trunk or roofs to take there (not very convenient & you do pay separately for water/sewage/disposal). There are only two lanes on the very scenic road here. During the school year or rush hour, it can be a bit of a wait to leave the complex. There is a great path that runs along the road that many folks walk or exercise on, sometimes with their pets. Many new friends to make! Put this 1st on your list to look at, then compare the others. Easy choice!
I absolutely love living in this area! Great family oriented location with walking paths and twistee treat right down the road!!! Overall, it's a quiet place to live and the staff are quick to answers questions and fix maintenance requests. Amenities could be better but I'm happy where I am.
On top of being a gated community, apartments are spacious with screened Lanai's and storage rooms just outside your door. Very pet friendly community. Pool, gym and Internet café amenities. Rent can be paid online as well as request and track maintenance requests. You have many choices available for your Internet/TV provider. Zoned schools are the best ones available from all surrounding neighborhoods. You want shopping? Bruce B Downs offers Publix, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Bed Bath and Beyond, PetSmart, etc... Plenty of restaurants choices. If that's not enough Wiregrass Mall is less than 4 miles away. I-75 is less than 3 miles away easy commute to work. Everything you'll ever need all within a few miles.
I love Portofino! The staff is friendly and accommodating and the location is perfect in this blossoming area of New Tampa. Grounds and buildings are well maintained. Lots of improvements made just in the last few months with a brand new clubhouse and newly sealed parking lot. Paying rent online is a great option and beats having to write checks every month. I would recommend them to professional singles, couples and small families. And BONUS: You can bring your furry friends as well!
This is a good community. every thing is inside this good.location is awesome. management is also quick responsive.
Watch out for hidden fees when you move in. Maintenance request can take a long time to resolve. Otherwise it's a decent apartment and you get a good amount of space for the price.
I been living at "Portofino Apartments", since 2008 it has been a home from home for me. Everything is in a walking distant for example: shopping plaza, grocery store, banks, it has a community park open to the public. The "Portofino Apartments" has always kept and outstanding present about the property. Lets not forget about the property manager and its' staff what a wonderful job they have been doing in keeping this property up to date and with their residents. If you need another place to call your home let "Portofino Apartments" be the one to guide you it's worthy :)
If you pick this apartment, you an actually have a job and not be worried about contacting management/staff as they are available 7 days a week including Sundays. They are open until 6pm on week days. Yes, there is a dog park too for dog lovers who want their pets to be free and happy! This also helps people who are not so pet friendly. Awesomeness :)
Portofino Apartments recently renovated their entire clubhouse, including pool and fitness center. I am a new resident, and am so happy I chose to live at Portofino because the facilities are luxurious and modern! I love the effort the staff puts into making their residents feel happy and at home at Portofino.
