Nestled between Carlsbad and San Marcos, Vista is a scenic suburb in northwestern San Diego County. With its many lush parks and rolling hills, it’s no surprise that Vista’s name translates to “view” in Spanish. Vista’s natural beauty and mild climate affords residents access to year-round outdoor activities. Among the community’s most popular parks are Brengle Terrace Park, Guajome Regional Park, and Buena Vista Park. Pristine Pacific Coast beaches are also just seven miles away.
Vista provides a host of suburban offerings, from quiet residential neighborhoods to shopping centers and everything in between. Retail delights and tasty eats abound at Vista Village, North County Square, and nearby Carlsbad Premium Outlets. Renters have a wide variety of apartments, condos, and houses to choose from in tranquil Vista. Ronald Packard Parkway connects Vista to the coast and beyond.

Property Ratings at Preserve at Melrose
Preserve at Melrose is a super cool place to rent. they have awesome amenities such as a Activity Center, Pool house, and business center. the office workers are super helpful especially David. he is super nice and chill and always fun to talk to.
I currently live here and have for two years. But the quality of this complex has gone downhill drastically. The front office is rude and unhelpful. Neighbors are extremely loud and nothing is ever done about it. Parking is horrible. People speed through the complex with blind corners everywhere. Security is NO where to be found. But you best believe if your car isn’t in the right spot you’ll be towed. They spend an awful lot of time cleaning SOME buildings, never others. The dog park would be awesome if they actually cleaned it every once in a while. But instead it smells like a urine cesspool. Don’t waste you’re money. There are plenty of other places with amenities equal to or better. We absolutely will not be renewing our lease. For how much money you spend in rent to live here, the quality is AWFUL! Don’t let the appearances fool you. This place is a joke.
You can call the office first thing in the morning(630) and leave a message about someone letting their dog poop in the hallways and it’ll still be there when you get home from work(530)! You can call the office about it again, and they say “it’s in a service request, we’ll check on it.” No one came to clean it. No one came to power wash the hallway. Not only does this happen often, you can complain all you want and nothing happens. Can’t wait to move out when we can.
I've had a great experience for the last 5 months that I have lived here. Great staff, beautiful apartment, fun resident events and amazing gym. I highly recommend!
I’ve been living at preserve melrose for quite some time now and have come to really appreciate all the hard work that Rish, Brandi, Leilani, Tamatha, jamika, And Cisco the team that makes it all Happen at the complex. The classes and events are so much fun and the overall environment is welcoming.
Unhappy with this community for many reasons. (Cleanliness, safety, service, noise, policies and parking). Would not recommend.
If I could give this place zero stars I would. I've lived here since the complex first opened over 2 years ago. I'll spare repeating what everyone else has said about how it used to be, because they are all right. I'm not sure if the current property management company is new at this or if they really are just this terrible, but I don't see it getting better anytime soon. When they took over they seemed to have fired basically all the staff. So not only are there only a few people who work in the office, there seems to be one maintenance person and zero people actually doing any maintenance. The walk ways are dirty all of the time, the landscaping is in ruins and don't even get me started on the trash. It's kind of always been bad but was under decent control before the takeover. It's so bad that I just feel gross being outside, which is not a good feeling when you're at your home. There is dog crap everywhere, and I get that people are going to be jerks and not clean up after their dogs (I'm looking at you big dog owners, I mean come on), but there used to be a company that would walk around and clean it up. I guess the new management can't afford that anymore.
When we looked at Alexan Melrose (as it was previously called) we liked the fact that there were free amenities that a lot of places didn't offer. The staff was very friendly and attentive. There was only one underlying problem, the management at the time worked off the books and things were done with our accounts in a "seat of the pants" kind of way. If we were to add something or credit something it was handled in that off the books type of fashion. The corporate masters discovered a bunch of shady stuff and fired the management and brought in new leadership. They were excellent, and very patient with listening to everyone about the issues. They must have spent weeks fixing accounts and adding credits. Things were not 100% fixed when they sold to new ownership. They assured us that things would fixed by the new team (they no longer had access to accounting). Well the new team came in and are literally the worst group on the planet. They know zero about customer service and either don't care or are too lazy to fix the accounting issues. They promise meetings with the property manager about the issues and then never follow through. They threaten and harass without ever coming up with solutions (parking, garbage, dog poop, noise). I even found a dildo on the sidewalk that sat out in the wide open for three days before I finally complained. Their staff had walked by it probably hundreds of times since it was there. To top it off there were two women in the community business office (obviously from corporate) discussing how they were going to change, then monetize the business office! I can sum it up pretty easily, as Alexan Melrose, they had issues but worked very hard at correcting them...the new management are one step above collection agents and are actively working at stripping away amenities for the sake of generating more money. There are several other properties nearby and I would probably check there first...this place ain't what it used to be...
Would recommend based on amenities and quality of apartment size but rent is at high end of prices locally but I feel it is worth it neighbors are cool it is very quiet no crazy parties and loud noises which I love. Need my beauty sleep. I am very satisfied with our choice to live here
I would recommend for sure. The apartments are beautiful and have all the luxuries needed. The only thing that I dislike is the size of the "dog park". It's not very functional for the amount of pets that are in the apartment complex. Also having artificial grass does not help with the dog area. It smells when it gets hot and when dogs go to the bathroom it's not easy to pick up after. Other then that it's a great area.
I was impressed overall with the leasing professionals, the facility, amenities, and apartment condition and spaciousness of the 2 bedroom floor plan I got.
The down fall to me, is the guest parking. Its really inconvenient to have our guest park in the front, especially cause I live in the back of the apartments.

They are too pricey in my opinion.
I would recommend this place because the ladies in the office are great and everyone is really nice in the community
Parking is an issue, lack of delivery services such as food, etc.
I would recommend to everyone but I would let them know it's a little pricey!
Hated the new parking rules/system. I shouldn't have to worry about my vehicles being towed because of which one I park in a non reserved spot.
It is close to Camp Pendleton and has much of your daily needs. The train station is a deterrent.
Rent is too high, and parking is impossible after 7:30 but its worth it.
If you are thinking to get the security deposit after move out from this place, that will not going to happen! The property's manager(Brandy) will not return the calls and will not follow through the proper procedures. They will make many excuses to not to return your security deposit. Will not produce any photos of your apartment's moving out conditions to justify keeping your security deposit! Nice place but, unprofessional behavior and staffs!
The units are well designed and have a modern floor-plan. The community is friendly and public transportation is within close walking distance.
Amazing community from amenities to personal. So happy to be here.

I love the environment here! The staff are so friendly and helpful. Apartments are very clean.
I have already recommended this complex to friends and acquaintances and will continue to do so.
I already have recommended it to a few friends. I would because of the look, easy parking access, and the wonderful community feel.
It's pretty, new, modern. Great amenities, Nice grounds.
This is a great place. The location is close to many stores and gas stations! The front staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Any problem we have had, they have helped with a solution right away! The pool is big and all the guests at the pool are friendly! My husband and I reccomend this place. We looked at many appartments in the area and this one stood out.
One word can describe where I live: AMAZING! great location in vista. very close to local transportation like the bus and sprinter. 10 minutes away from the freeway 78. Shopping centers 5 minutes away from apartments. the apartments themselves look amazing from both the inside and outside. washer and dryer in the units, lovely wood floors and cabinetry. beautiful counter tops. amenities include a heated pool, a game room/lounge and clubhouse. 24/7 gym access. fire pits by the pool. pet friendly with a dog park and pet wash! And the staff is soo helpful! they hold community events every month like wine and painting. they will answer any questions you may have and help you in every step of the way!
