Property Ratings at Providence Square
This is a crazy place. There are dogs at the complex who are aggressive and have gotten into multiple fights and cause thousands of dollars in very bills. I wish I could say this only happened once, but its happened more than a few times at this point. The even sadder part is that the complex says that they can't do anything about anything that happens at the dog park and the city says the same. I will never go back to that dog park because of the multiple incidents and problems that I have heard about and witnessed. They are "pet friendly" but they aren't friendly about it at all. If your dog doesn't pee and poop on ROCKS right outside the opening of the building, you have to pay between $75-$200! Those rocks smell DISGUSTING in the summer and look disgusting in the winter. The owner makes these rules for dogs that are not really pet friendly at all! The landscaping is terrible! They rip out pieces of grass that are flooding, so that they create more flooding. Or they rip out dead pieces so they can kill another patch! There are hills so the tops of the hills are dead grass and the bottom of the hills are flooded between every building. If you sell your contract you have to sell at the GOING RATE of the new contracts, if they let you sell at all. There's no point to giving the complex your cars information because they boot it anyways! You pay $20 per car to park there, you give them all your cars information, but if that stupid parking pass falls off your rear view mirror chances are you are getting a boot and a $75 fine! Not to mention, the owner switches property management companies about once a year. He then uses the new management company to enforce even bigger and more ridiculous rules!
Providence is perfect location for married students as it is just a couple blocks away from the campus. My husband and I have lived in several complexes and this is by far the best and most communicative. Especially great for pet owners!
I hope that you read this till the end! My Fiancee and I moved in this past weekend and it has not been a pleasant experience. I called a week before my move-in date to verify everything was in order and I can pickup my keys on time. A meeting was set and then management never showed up, after frantically calling many times because I had movers and a truck waiting to be unloaded I received a call 3 hours later stating my apartment was unlocked and paperwork was inside. I wasted time and money due to management not communicating. When I arrived at my apartment I found my AC was broken (still is 5 days later, yay summer), my washer was not hooked up correctly (apparently it is broken now and they don't know when the parts will come in to fix it), the apartment was not cleaned, and I couldn't get ahold of anyone to get these things fixed. All I keep getting are apologies, but I am utterly disappointed by my move to Providence Square. I was extremely excited for a brand new apartment to start my new life and all it has been is frustration because most of my appliances had problems. In regards to other reviews; yes, construction is loud and obnoxious but I expected this as it is a brand new complex. I would take all of this into consideration when looking into moving here, if you do choose to move here I hope your experience is much better than what I experienced.
Let's start with the positives. The location of this complex is really nice. It is easy walking distance to two parks. It's pretty close to BYU-Idaho campus. These apartments are brand new. There's just something exciting about living in a space where no one else has lived before. There is a washer and dryer in every apartment, which is very convenient. The management has also been great so far (I've been here for 3 months). The drawbacks. Speaking of management, the ONLY way I have been able to contact management is via email. I have tried calling the phone number on the Providence Square website several times and at different times of day. They never answer. Another thing, this complex is located very close to some train tracks. You will be hearing trains. For a lot of people this is a non issue. I have a 7 month old. The trains passing through are loud enough to wake her up. As for the appearance of the outside, there is dog poop EVERYWHERE. It is gross. Want a nice, well kept grassy area for your kiddos to play? Look someplace else. Now for the inside. First of all, the walls are gray. All of them. If you struggle with SAD, this is something you need to know. When my husband and I were looking at the pictures on the providence square website, the walls looked tan. They are gray, and on cloudy days (which happen a lot in the fall/winter/spring) my apartment is a dark, gloomy place. There is very little storage space here. The are no closet doors or doors in front of the washer/dryer. That isn't a huge deal, but the washer and dryers are really loud, and it would be nice to have a door in front of them to kind of muffle the noise.
