Living in Old Southwest Reno takes residents back to the early days of the Nevada city, back when pioneers roamed the streets and built homes any way they desired. Locals love the Old Southwest area for its status as one of the oldest neighborhoods in Reno. Close to downtown Reno and to restaurants, bars and schools, many Reno residents consider the area one of the most desirable parts of town.
Unlike the newer developments, Old Southwest homes resemble homes from the past, in many different styles. People can walk down the block and see both a mansion and a cottage on the same street. The uniqueness and old-fashioned nature of Old Southwest and its outer streets pique the interest of those who travel to Reno looking for a family neighborhood close to all of Reno’s attractions.

Property Ratings at Redfield Ridge
We moved in September of 2023. Right out of the gate we were told that our apartment would have a fireplace. When we showed up to move our stuff in? No fireplace. Our fire alarm was broken and wouldnt stop screeching even after replacing batteries and the shower door is not even so the door opens no matter what. They sent maintenance to fix the shower but never fixed the smoke alarm. That was back in October of 2023. The shower door also still opens on one side every single time you open it. The smoke alarm is still not fixed as of 6/3/24. Then recently they messed up our billing, resulting in an additional 200.00 on my bill with no notice! They screwed up billing again by not telling me that the additional charge was going to be again billed, and wasn't put through with my rent which incurred a late fee ( that I had gotten worked out). Their late fees are 86.00. My AC is now out and I dread to see how long that will take to fix. The "balcony" is a joke, as its too small to even sit out on, and we no longer can decorate outside. Additionally like others have said the gate has not worked, save about 4 days, since we moved in. As such we have homeless people filtering in and out of the complex, break ins to cars, and cops chasing people through our complex. From other reviews' owners replies the pool was supposed to be open Memorial day weekend. Well it was not, when my family went to use it saturday 6/1/24 and when I called today I was told they were waiting for an 'inspection." We were told on move in that the hot tubs were open year round. Another lie. The second pool that they boast has been under construction (just for the hot tub!!) for almost a year. We are paying premium prices for amenities that are not available and shoddy billing practices. As an update They finally opened the pool, but it was two weeks from when they told us it was supposed to open. Not only that we are still paying "back pay" for our utilities and they dont tell you when they will charge you for those, so my rent has varied from 1800-2000 over the last few months. The office does not call you back, rarely answers the phones and barely if at all answers the resident portal emails. Also they conducted their "yearly" inspections but a month later say they "missed stuff" so the entire complex is having ANOTHER round of inspections. Ridiculous!!
There aren’t 2 sparkling pools, there is one dirty one and one dirty lukewarm hot tub. There isn’t an aqua lounge and the apartments aren’t anything special. Management lies and are as fake as they come. When I first moved in I had bugs coming in my single lane windows in my bedroom. The maintenance is a joke. Just a mediocre apartment complex trying to convince people they are some high class place when everyone knows the truth. For the price you can find much nicer places that actually have those amenities but it’s not redfield ridge!
Not safe apartment sadly. Drug dealers live here, people are coming all through the night and day and management does nothing about it. You don’t want to be at the end of the complex dealing with the people coming through. Car break ins happening and it’s very loud. Only plus is near a lot in Reno, not safe for families or women, you should never walk alone in the complex.
