Property Ratings at The Redland Apartments
Roach Infestation and terrible management. I was charged on move-out for something they never came to fix. Don't rent here.
The staff were typically pretty nice, but there is no way to make up for the living conditions. I have been dealing with mold the entire lease and I am counting down the seconds for the lease to end. This morning I woke up and saw the biggest cockroach I’ve ever seen in my life. The apartments were absolutely filthy upon move in and the carpets look like they haven’t even been cleaned in 10 years. My advice is to spend your last dollar renting with someone other than Rent athens .
This place is trash run the bugs will eat you up there’s roaches roaches roaches . Please don’t stay here please I’m begging y’all they don’t care about you it get worse I can’t sleep at night they always out . I even saw a mouse 1 time I just can’t take it
one thing that should throw you off is how they seem to have a 5/5 rating but none of their reviews are five stars. Poor management to say the least. The only good thing is rent but even then, I've found 10+ places that offer a similar rent price.
If you are looking for a cheap place to stay with a good location, look anywhere but here. The apartments are in poor condition and you can find cheaper apartments in better condition under better management on the same road. Let me emphasize better management. The poor condition of the apartments could be tolerable if the management was more considerate and professional, but as you can likely tell from the responses to these reviews, this isn’t the case. The front desk workers are rude and never helpful, you could ask a question at different times of the day and get a different answer every time. They make excuses for their complaints instead of taking responsibility and fixing the problems. If your rent is paying their wages, you should be able to expect a basic level of respect and professionalism. On top of this, they shut our water off too many times to count in the span of the year, once for nine hours in the middle of quarantine. After asking people that live in different complexes on the same street, they never had their water shut off which goes to show that a fresh coat of paint (which is all “newly renovated” is to them) doesn’t fix the underlying problems caused by being an old, poorly kept apartment complex. As a first time apartment owner, I thought that the mold and bug problem was just a normal thing in Athens but in my new apartment I haven't seen a single roach in a month. Whereas at the Redlands mold would grow on my shower weekly, there's none in my new apartment.
I currently live at the Redland. When I first moved in I reported the roach infestation problem and it felt like they did not believe. The roaches are so bad they get in the fridge, microwave, oven, and dishwasher. My roommates and I had to throw out all of our food when we saw that they roaches got in the fridge. They come up the sink and out of the wall electrical outlets so when pest control comes in to spray, it does not stop them. The leasing office ignore this and instead focus all their time of deceiving new people to sign leases by giving current residents gift cards to write good reviews.
Last year I lived here for around $400 for a completely furnished apartment with utilities included. However, when I renewed my lease with them for the current year, they failed to tell and explain the raise in price and the addition of a separate utility bill. Because of this, my rent had gone up by about $100 without my knowing. Furthermore, they will and i repeat, they WILL try to find any way to charge you extra money. when asked why our bill was so high, they simply responded with ga power’s number and email. lazy. although they had said they pre cleaned our apartment before moving in, the apartment i currently reside at was filthy. please do not live here.
The most embarrassing thing is that you might be fined sometimes without any reason. Just avoid this residence.
Just moved in, and I can tell there is NO cleaning done here, and there is a SERIOUS ROACH INFESTATION! We asked management to solve the problem, and they did send someone over to spray. But it has now been a couple of days since that and there are just as many roaches now as when I moved in. There are even roach droppings in the kitchen cabinets. Plus the amenities are clearly not what they promised, as the pool looks like an algal bloom and the hot tub does not contain water.
Absolutely the most disgusting property I’ve ever entered. Upon entering the residence after being given the wrong keys twice and being let in by a worker I immediately noticed dirt, dust, paint chips, and most importantly a wide variety of living and dead insects littering the ground. Opening the utilities closet released a swarm of other insects like a cartoon. All of the carpets are frayed at the edges and very discolored. The walls are swarming with bugs. The ceiling is covered in dust bunnies. There was zero effort made to prepare the property for the move in date that the COMPANY specified. This is absolutely unacceptable. The model unit was very clean and livable and, as that is the only unit available for prospective tennants to view, the other properties should be held to that standard. Also, the management staff was completely and utterly unhelpful in every shape and form. I had to go back to the lobby 5 separate times because the key would not work for the lock. This was in between trips of informing management of the various listed problems and being given responses of “we’re working on it” each time with no actual progress or updates being provided. This back-and-forth persisted for 6 hours until finally a member of the management went down to the apartment and pretended to write down a list of our complaints. Around an hour later we had to sit down with the same manager, Colby, who had us list our complaints yet again. He informed us that they were confident they could have the problem solved in a week and he would type up an addendum saying they would fix our list of concerns in one week. He then disappeared as he had so many times in the 6 hours before. We waited another 30 minutes and did not receive the addendum or any update.
The Redland is a community close to campus with great residents!! Love it here!!
