Situated across the Tennessee River from the University of Tennessee campus, South Knoxville sits in a prime location that gives easy access to Knoxville proper to the north, Blount County to the south, and the Great Smokey Mountains and the Sevierville region to the west. The area, known for its low overall housing prices and average rents, makes a great place for students living on a budget.
The area’s close proximity to the University of Tennessee campus means students can easily drive or bike to their classes throughout the day. Non-students are within a short commute to Knoxville via the James White Parkway or Chapman Highway. Nestled along the south bank of the Tennessee River, Chapman Highway runs along the neighborhood’s western edge. Bordered by Island Home Park to the northeast, Vestal to the west and Old Sevier to the north, the neighborhood sits about three miles to the south of Downtown Knoxville.

Property Ratings at Redpoint Knoxville
I used to love living here. I loved that you lived in a house and that it seemed so private. It was quiet and peaceful, then management changed over and the property was sold off. The new management is awful. If you have issues with your neighbors being too loud and you contact the office for help, they will tell you to speak with them instead of the office doing their job and contacting them for you. They randomly come into your apartment and charge you for things that are "damaged" and add the fees to your account without telling you until the fees are considered late. They have a $300 pet fee which I was told would take care of any damages that my pet would do but now I'm being charged $100 extra for "pet damages" and when I brought up that I paid a pet fee and that it should be taken out of that, I was then told that that is not what the pet fee is for and that you have to pay $300 just so that they are aware that you have a pet. They will charge you for anything that they can and will belittle and look down on you when you question them. It was a huge mistake to resign here. Don't make the same mistake I did.
The houses are fairly nice, but they have thin walls that will cause your bill to be in the $200 per person range in the extreme months. Although they follow the lease agreement (which is fair) they follow it religiously. For example we had bad neighbors that called the cops on us within the first week for a small get together of about 10 people. We proceeded to get fined $50 a person even though Redpoint wasn’t even involved. Then we got fined for noise complaints for a small birthday party, a Tennessee football game, and the Super Bowl. After the last they said we would be looking for another place to live if we got another, so we didn’t even feel okay to bring friends over for months. Upon move out, we definitely expected around $100 in fines for damages for marks on the walls etc. Between the 5 roommates, they charged over $1000 for the silliest things that we are still trying to understand. Overall, good house/pool but they will empty your pockets every chance they get.
Lived at Redpoint for a year now from back when it was still the Retreat. Renewed my lease as soon as I could because it is so nice here. The management has always been very friendly to me and my pup. Spent a lot of time at the pool this summer and it's nicer than any of my friends' pools, that's probably why we're here so often. Plan on spending the rest of my Undergrad here and always recommend this place to my friends when they're looking for somewhere new to live.
The new management that just took over is extremely inflexible and rude. The two previous community managers that worked here while I lived here for the past three years were fantastic and kept the whole place fun. It honestly felt like a little community. It no longer holds the same appeal at all.
