Named for the abundance of gray squirrels in the days of the early pioneers, Squirrel Hill is one of the city’s premier neighborhoods. Nestled between Frick Park and Schenley Park, two of Pittsburgh’s favorite green spaces, Squirrel Hill North is a quintessential family-friendly neighborhood. The neighborhood was even the inspiration for the beloved children's television show "Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood," as Fred Rogers was a long-time resident. Along with excellent public and private schools, Squirrel Hill North is home to Carnegie Mellon University and Chatham University while the University of Pittsburgh is nearby as well. Residents can walk to the neighborhood’s restaurants and shops while Squirrel Hill South provides even more options along Murray Avenue. Frick Park has excellent trails while Schenley Park has an ice-skating rink, botanical gardens, and more. Rentals in this leafy locale include affordable studios, high-rise apartment buildings, and elegant brick mansions.

Property Ratings at Regency Court Apartments
I rented one of the nicer apartments. Decent hardwood floors and a nice kitchen. The pro's more or less stop there. The apartment was dirty when I moved in. Walls are in somewhat poor shape. Paint is shabby, definitely seen some wear. The public areas are a disaster, paint is wrecked, dirty, etc. The laundry facilities are very bad. There is one washer and one dryer for the building in the basement, they do a poor job cleaning clothes, and only accept a charge card that you can refill two blocks down the street. Now onto the real disaster. Every step of their service says they don't care at all about the tenant. To pay them online (the only convenient option), they charge a fee (a personal pet peeve). The agent was late to our showing. Then when I got relocated for work a few months later, I emailed trying to find out how to pay the lease break fee. The next day I get a call from a noticeably angry agent who proceeded to tell me that I would pay the full extent of lease, they would not try to find someone to fill the unit, and if I didn't make sure the heat was on in the winter and the pipes froze, I would be liable for that too (I was moving to Oregon). After that she hung up on me. In short: Sub par apartments, god awful service. 1/5 would not rent again.
Living in a one bedroom apartment. Living room/ dining room and bedroom are large in my opinion. The bedroom also has a very big walk in closet. There is also another closet when you first walk into the room. The kitchen is average, and there is a decent amount of counter top space. The sink disposal and dishwasher are a huge plus. Bathroom is on the small side, and there is not many places to store items, but this would just cut down on other rooms in the apartment. Garage is clean and lit up 24/7. Lobos the management company is one of the bigger companies in Pittsburgh. So far they have satisfied most of my maintenance requests, and I know I am moving in during the busy college season.
