Thanks to some odd geography, Maplewood has something of a split personality. This first-ring St. Paul suburb can be described as being shaped like a frying pan. The main business and residential area lies primarily to the north and east of St. Paul, while the chief amenities, such as the community center and an indoor mall, lie in the "pan." South Maplewood, or the "pan handle," runs south along Interstate 494 and has fewer business amenities. Residents of this area tend to shop in bordering Woodbury, since it takes a good half hour to get from the southern tip of Maplewood to the main northern business district.
Meanwhile, Oakdale lies between the two sections, just east of Maplewood's pan handle and north of Woodbury. This young suburb is a quiet bedroom community with a scattering of business districts. Cornfields make up its eastern portion, giving the area a distinctly rural vibe, even though it's just 10 minutes outside of downtown St. Paul.

Property Ratings at Regency Park
Been here for only 2.5 months and I want to move out already. I live above tenants who stomp. I get they're heavy walkers but I don't think courtesy exists. The tenant was rude and inconsiderate. The first week, my sister and I both went up to politely let her know that people live below her and can hear all the movements. She yelled back at us with an attitude which has been a big factor into why we don't like this apartment. From what we've experienced so far, some neighbors are not friendly. I don't understand those who say "This is apartment living. You have to deal with it." Why should I? I'm paying my money to live here. It's to the point where we know exactly where she's walking, what she's doing and when she's home. Whenever they walk, they vibrate our apartment, ESPECIALLY when her son runs. All we've ever asked for is courtesy and it's not something we get. Would not raise a family here. Also, management isn't the greatest because they won't/don't do anything about it. The new manager is nice and understanding enough but all they ever tell me is that they can't do anything about it. I don't quite understand how you tell me that you can't tell her how to walk or be more courteous, yet at the same time she's disturbing our peace and quiet and it doesn't matter to you? Quiet hours specifically say 10pm to 7am. She wakes up at 6 (sometimes 5:30AM) and stomps around the whole hour getting ready for work. Technically, they're not following regulations as she needs to stay quiet (STOMPING INCLUDED) until 7am. I know it's an old building, but perhaps fixing the carpeting or sound insulation might be beneficial to future tenants. Everyone deserves to have their peace and quiet and my sister and I have not experienced it here. Our neighbor upstairs is seriously going to break through the floor one day. I wake up every morning between 5:45AM-6AM to their stomping and it's affecting my sleep patterns. Would NOT recommend this place until you've FULLY inspected it. Ask for a showing in the evening when you can hear the neighbors walking upstairs. Thank the LORD we are moving out in December to a 3rd floor unit, away from the terrible and inconsiderate noise upstairs. I hope that serves us better.
management was good to me in that they let me switch apartments to a non smoking building. The maintenence crew is very friendly and helpful, and they get things fixed quickly. I'm not crazy about everything, but overall, the apartments are in a good location, with excellent trails nearby for walking.
I should have known that this place was going to be a problem when i came to move in and the apartment was still a mess! I fought the office staff to have them clean the apartment before i would move anything in because it was so disgusting. The building it's self is old so I cant expect everything to be top notch but the maintenance man is so lazy, good luck if anything breaks in your apartment. we have had a leak in our bathroom since January and his "fix" for it was to cut a big hole in the ceiling. We haven't been able to get into our door without jiggling the lock for 5 minutes, the washing machines/dryers are constantly breaking down and maintenance wont fix them until a month later {replacing them with the broken ones from other properties}. Residents are constantly driving on the grass in the main yard, every time i mention it to the office staff they say they will set it straight but never do. There are some nice people that live here but a lot of them have animals that aren't registered and don't have their shots so WATCH OUT! I feel like we pay enough in rent to be able to have things that work properly....this place just isn't worth it.

Thank you for your comments. I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience while you were living at Regency Park. We went through a personnel change with office staff in April and I want to assure you that these issues are taken seriously and addressed immediately. If you do still live at Regency Park, I invite you to come speak with me so I may address your concerns. Keegan M., Property Manager
I love my apartment. The building is ALWAYS clean, my neighbors are respectful, the staff are great and the community is beautiful. Best apartment I've rented thus far
The space is very nice, but once you step out its bad. Grey area, all traffic, rude, weird unfriendly people.
