Named for the body of water at the center of the neighborhood, Virginia Lake is a Reno community with an emphasis on greenery and a variety of homes.
Virginia Lake is just over 10 minutes from the center of Reno, but it looks more like a community you’d find up north. Towering trees line the streets of the older developments, while newer residential offerings in the southwest corner of the neighborhood have planted hundreds of saplings that bring an upscale feel to the streets.
Outside of the colorful homes and modern apartments is a number of different restaurants and cafes along South Virginia St., the neighborhood’s eastern border. Mediterranean, Mexican, Indian, and more are all on offer, just steps away from a popular movie theater. For those who need an escape from “The Biggest Little City in the World,” the I-80 and I-580 will carry you to Carson City or Crystal Peak Park in just a few minutes.

Property Ratings at Regency Park
We lived at this complex for about 3 years. It was an awful experience. The buildings are very very old, there is definitely mold in the walls. We would feel sick on and off all 3 years up until we moved out. They had several weeks of cockroach infestations. I remember I was going to sleep one night and felt one crawling on my face. The maintenance team is absolutely completely useless. We moved into another unit and it took them six months of them coming in and out of our home to fix a bunch of issues in this supposedly "move in ready" unit. We are convinced the maintenance guys told the office they took care of it, when in fact they did not. We've had packages stolen from our front door, our neighbors also experienced this. There have been numerous occasions where homeless people would sleep in the laundry rooms. This complex doesn't have ANY cameras on property (not even facing the mailboxes) and they don't have security. Which they would benefit from getting. This "beautiful gated community" is not in fact gated. The gates haven't worked in over a year. And even if they do work, sometimes they won't open and you're literally stuck. You have to pay extra money per month for parking spaces. But that's not a guarantee your spot will be avaliable when you get home. There's nothing you can do when someone is parked in your spot that you pay for. The property manager is nice, but very tone deaf to the issues of this property. These apartments are extremely over priced for what you're getting. With this price range you're better off moving to a nicer part of Reno. Highly highly DO NOT recommend living at this complex.

Office people are nice but the units themselves could use some work. You'll see a roach every now and then and mold due to the windows they use. Be prepared to have the fire alarm pulled everyday for at least a week every summer cause of the kids in the area. Homeless people living in the laundry rooms or sleeping in the lobby at night. Tweakers hanging out on site doing God only knows what. Gates are all left open except the back but still not secure at all. Their "fitness facility" is a room in their office that is one of the apartment units. Super tiny room with a treadmill, elliptical, and bench. Feels too awkward to use.

These apartments used to be decent. The neighborhood is bad, but the low rates and pet-friendly leases made it worth it. Then, Tarantino property management took over in 2016 and everything got worse. They are the least professional people you will ever meet, if you can catch them in the office. They regularly lose paperwork, so be sure you get reciepts for *everything*. 0/10 would not recommend. The only thing that earns this place a star is the maintenance guy is ok. He does what he can for being the only person to maintain the entire complex. That being said, if something goes wrong in your unit, do not count on getting it fixed. They'll sure bill you for it when you finally can't take it anymore and move out though!
Living at this place is very basic. It's doesn't have a pool, business center, or a gym. In exchange of all that, the rent is quite reasonable, the only necessity utility that is required is the electricity (they cover the gas, sewage, water and trash). On top of all that, the property is gated. Access card or code is required after a certain time. It is very quiet and I haven't had any troubles with anyone (except maybe one crazy lady, but everyone got em). The management are friendly and they'll do whatever they can to solve any issues that arises. The maintenance crew is the same way, when I had an issue with the garbage disposal, I told the management. They apparently dispatched them to fix it while I was there just chatting with them because when I returned to the apartment, it was working and I returned to the office to apologize to them for wasting their time and it made a liar out of me. They said it was being fixed while I was chatting with them, I was impressed. They also constantly evaluate the safety and living conditions in the apartment and make a great effort to correct (i.e. Safety electric socket to prevent shock when a toaster just might fall in the water). All in all, I gave them a four star simply there are always room for improvement, but I would recommend to anybody to live at the Regency Park.
