Property Ratings at Renaissance at Uptown Orange
I lived here a year and I have had mostly positive experiences. I lived in a top floor unit, minimal noise, maintenance guys are fast and efficient. The pool and jacuzzi can be cleaned more often. Visitor parking is limited but I work nights and I am home during the day so I made it work. I felt safe walking my dog any time of the day. My only complaint is the front gate near the gym/pool area is always open allowing for non-residents to come in and use the amenities. I do think the rent prices are too high given its not the most updated and modern, I am moving to a more modern complex which is nearly $500 cheaper a month. Top floor units have carpet which was another con for me as I have a small dog.
I've lived here for 14 months and I am so glad to be getting out. First, they are not the best price. When there was a homeless community living alongside the complex the price was very cheap, but now they've raised the price HIGHER than complexes right by Angel Stadium with way more amenities. This place is across from a Motel 6; there's no excuse for that. Next, this place is NOT safe or secure. The gates never work allowing anyone to come in. My uber and lyft drivers always manage to get behind the gates to pick me up, every time. And I have only seen security here a handful of times. Maintenance here is THE BIGGEST JOKE! They never clean the gym equipment (it's really gross, I had to put in several maintenance requests over the course of 2 weeks just to get someone to put in more wipes to clean off the machines myself) and the trash rooms are always very smelly and overflowing (I've lived in several large facilities and say with absolute assurance Renaissance is the worst about this). On top of that they took ONE MONTH to fix my ice machine and TWO WEEKS TO FIX MY BROKEN FREEZER! They literally admitted to me that they just forgot about my case because "they were understaffed and had a mix up." Recently the wall in my hallway began to leak water from the ceiling. I called the emergency maintenance hotline and it took them 15 minutes just to get a technician on the phone; they wouldn't answer their calls. Even though it's classified as an EMERGENCY they took about half an hour to respond. And once again, did not fix the problem. I woke up this morning to water leaking EVERYWHERE in my hallway. Once again, they told the hotline they wouldn't be able to come out for half an hour "because they don't have the right tools." I even informed the hotline that I believe it's affecting my electrical (all appliances in my bedroom have stopped working), andddd nothing. Worst of all is parking. There are never any guest spots so if you ever want to have people over, definitely don't live here. To even purchase a second spot we had to wait for about 3-4 months on a waiting list! The apartment itself (when it isn't leaking or broken) is nice, which is why I gave this mess 2 stars instead of 1 but there always seems to be a problem because it was built cheap. Anaheim/Orange is a great place to live, but there are far nicer complexes than Renaissance.
I lived here from May 2013 - March 2014. Staff here is amazing! The front office people are always there and professional, maintenance staff are always around and respond within 24 hours. NO BUGS and it is VERY PET FRIENDLY. The grounds are very well kept with two gorgeous club houses and washer/dryers in the units. My only complaint is if you are outside the main complex, there is no elevator for the 3 floor units which made it difficult to move in and out. It really felt like home for my 10 month lease. I regret moving out but due to roomate issues we were unable to continue our lease.
Renaissance is perfectly situated between the 57 and 5 freeways and close to the 22, as well as the 91. There are many things to do in the area: The Outlets at Orange are around the corner. Disneyland, Angel Stadium, and the Honda Center are short drives away. The new Anaheim train station is also close by and makes it easy to make day trips to Los Angeles or San Diego quick and simple. The apartments are nice to live in and well kept. There are quite a few different floor plans so finding one to suit your needs is easy. My husband and I have a 1 bdrm we thought was perfect for a couple living together. The bthrm has a double vanity with plenty of mirror and counter space so we can easily get ready at the same time. The bdrm has 2 closets so we don't have to share closet space and the size of the bedroom itself is roomy -we easily fit a queen bed, nightstand ,big dresser, desk, and a bassinet. We love that all the appliances were included -even an in unit washer and dryer. The living room and kitchen are not the biggest but its big enough for the 2 of us. We've even had up to 9 guests visit, and while we had to get quite cozy there was still enough space for everyone to hang out. My biggest gripes about the kitchen is that there isn't much counter space and the cabinets next to the refrigerator are really narrow but deep making it awkward to get items stored in the back of the cabinet. I don't have many complaints about the complex itself -it's well kept, all the employees I've come in contact with are really friendly and helpful. They bring in food trucks 2 or 3x a week which is really convenient. They also offer free work out classes and events like cooking classes. There are 2 pools and 2 gyms - one of the gyms is 24 hours so you can use it anytime that fits your schedule. Some cons about the complex are parking - if you have more than one car you either have to put yourself on a waiting list to get 2nd assigned spot (which is extra $) or use the minimal guest parking that is provided. Guest parking goes quickly in the evenings, especially on the weekends and there have been times when we have to wait for people to leave before we could park or we've had to ask guests to park across the street at Denny's. Another con is the location of the mailboxes. They have mailboxes on every floor at the elevators but you aren't guaranteed to get a mailbox in the area most convenient to you. I have to go down 1 floor and across the garage.
I have lived in several apartments the last few years, and this place tops it all! I personally love all the staff! Both Jennifer's are very friendly. Management is not out to get you, they understand the sometime people have financial issues, and if you talk to them they usually are willing to work with you... Chad in maintenance is awesome and will attend to your needs in a timely manner. The management responds to complains about noise, animals or other issues VERY FAST! Like all apartments there are some downfalls... 1.) Noise, but because this is a newer building, noise inside homes is not too bad. 2.) Parking, the only major issue as there are not enough guest spots. However, if you are a resident you get an assigned parking space. Overall, I seriously enjoy living here. I hope to be here awhile!
In October I will have lived here for two years. I do plan to move when my lease is up. The complex was sold approximately one year ago to Essex Properties. Essex has worked on cleaning and improving the property. Raising the rents is also part of it. They got one of the main gates fixed however one of the two gates is usually open. The complex is suppose to be safe and secure, but Essex has been unable to fulfill their commitment. They've been through several security companies but none have been able to stop the vandalism and loitering. They sent a letter to all tenants admitting they can not assure the safety of tenants cars from vandalism. I've had two cars keyed. The homeless population in the riverbed continues to grow. They regularly use the bathrooms by the pools to bathe. The showers by the pools have been turned off now to discourage their bathing. They go through the trash cans every morning. They come through the gates when they are open and also hop the fences and open the gate to bring their bike in. They ride from trash can to trash can tearing open the bags and taking food or recyclables. I walk my dog early in the morning before work and I use to to feel safe here. I have great compassion for the homeless and know they have nothing and need shelter and food. I don't feel safe here any longer because their are so many people biking or walking around the complex at 4:00am. There's a young man that goes through the trash bins my living room window looks over every morning at 3:30am. There was a lady pushing her grocery cart through this morning, going from one trash bin to the next. If activities and food trucks interest you will like that part of living here. The office is trying to make the complex more social. I like my apartment but the rents are high and I want to feel safe.
