San Antonio blends a rich heritage with modern innovation, resulting in a metropolis teeming with true Texan heart. San Antonio’s distinctive environment reflects centuries of style and a diverse array of culture, which is best exemplified in the La Villita Historic Arts Village. The Alamo may be the most renowned structure in the city, but there are plenty of magnificent historical buildings to see—from the Emily Morgan Hotel to the Meyer Halff House.
Stretched along the San Antonio River is the famous River Walk, where residents and visitors alike can walk or bike from the San Antonio Zoo to the Witte Museum, the historic Majestic Theatre, the Shops at Rivercenter, the Missions of San Antonio and back again.
The city and the surrounding region offer endless opportunities for exploration.

Property Ratings at Republic at Alamo Heights
I am very thankful for the customer service I have received so far from David and Valerie at Republic at Alamo Heights. They have been friendly and proactive as they processed my application, lease and all the move-in nuances. Everything moved along very quickly with detailed instructions and move-in orientation. I had no issues on move-in date with parking and elevators and so far everyone in the community has been very nice. The apartment itself is very well lit, the layout is practical, and it is well insulated. I hear nothing from the pool or the hallways… I don’t even know if I have neighbors upstairs. I’ve had no issues with the keyless method, even during the move when I was locking and unlocking the door through the virtual hub. I wish neighbors would be better at following the easy and common sense instructions for the valet trash. Realistically, that’s not quite in the administration’s hands, it’s on each of us being considerate of a sense of community. I really like the concept of a lounge / resort pool and a separate lap pool. The gym is reasonable for an apartment complex, has the basics, considering the price we’re paying here. Thanks to the location, we have options. Which brings me to location… incredible variety of options for dining , quick shopping needs and a skip and a hop to the Pearl and museums. This place has been a great value so far and I look forward to further exploring the area. Thank you David and Valerie for all of your help!
Property Manager at Republic at Alamo Heights, Responded To This Review
Thank you for taking the time to wonderfully highlight our community. Earning your five stars is important to us and we love learning that we are meeting your expectations. If there's ever anything we can do for you, please don't hesitate to let us know. Have a great day! Sincerely, Community Manager republicahmgr@cushwake.com
When you see the modern amenities in apartment and nice pools and gym, you might wonder how the price is so nice here . Let me tell you why. First, the motel/inn next door has drug & prostitution problems. Cops are constantly going there with whatever issue there is. Homeless looking people are always walking around apartment gate so parking outside the gate is risky. But parking inside the gate is EXTREMELY limited. Guests can only park with one pass that each units get. Such limited parking can blame the over abundant covered parking that is overpriced. Other tenant I know has to park outside the gate bc there isn't a free spot near his unit!! Aside from many reasons for the one star, I need to highlight the horrible new management company. They are so obsessed with little things and love to annoy residents, makes me wonder if office staff have OCD. They are so frugal in many ways. We used to have cute string lights on the building roof every day and they cut that off, they took away the limited parking spaces to put extra dog parks that are still too small for dogs to play, when the gate fobs stopped working, instead of contracting with different company, they switched to weird app to open the gates and now you can't open the gate remotely without wifi/data connected phone!! Also, they started claiming that they can charge us for leaving the trash out during non-trash-pick-up days. They relentlessly emailed/mailed us about that charge. Also after halloween, they would nag at patio units to discard the pumpkins bc they'll rot. It's like they're trying to make us uncomfortable living here. All this can be accepted IF they TOO care about cleaning the building. But NOOO the stairs are disgusting with rust that probs haven't ever been cleaned since opening, hallways are disgusting with stains that's NEVER cleaned, random trash in the hallways too never get picked up. Broken gym machines are never fixed and gym floor is NASTY as well. The management before hosted numerous parties yearly but this new one, probs twice a year. Just like previous ones, I hope this mgmt lasts short, but even if, these mgmt get worse and worse I hear, so be warned!!!
Hi everyone, I have lived here for 4 years and it wasn’t always as bad as it is now. You pay too much for little effort from management to really address any issues and they will take any chance to over charge you, so let me give you a pro and cons list below: PRO: The GYM is amazing, they have a peloton studio, occasional events w/alcohol, some food trucks, community WIFI/tv service (pretty expensive), AMAZON lockers, two pools, garden tubs or soaking tubs, large restrooms, tall ceilings (will suck if you have to change your own lights) some units come with washer and dryers, some units come with faux wooden blinds, trash valet, and they have a good resident referral program. CONS: POOR Management, significant raise in leases no matter how long you’ve been here, apartment has changed management 3 times this last year, current management (Pinnacle) will charge you for EVERYTHING, office staff prefer for you to leave a voicemail but don’t call back, hot water is minimal, only one trash chute in the complex, three dirty elevators (one is a freight elevator) maintenance takes forever with ZERO communication (Either they don’t want to do their job or the apartment HAS SO MANY PROBLEMS), YOU CAN HEAR EVERYTHING FROM THE APARTMENTS BELOW AND ABOVE YOU (not really the side though?), finishes in the apartments are cheap, kitchen track pad lights are expensive to replace, switches in apartments short circuit often, balconies are small, COMPACT Parking, NO GUEST PARKING: (residents with passes will take the few spots available)but parking in the gate is monitored for towing $270ish fee so literally impossible to have guests, Gates frequently don’t work, we are located near FOUR MOTEL DRUG DENS, consistent homeless and drug abusers wonder into the complex and break into vehicles, you will often hear ambulance and police at the property next door, THEFT is an issue with drug dens near, NOT PET FRIENDLY (there is NO grass) the “two dog parks” are small corners that have turf grass (NO real grass) and many people do not pick up after their animals its gross. Don’t rent here it’s a JOKE now. Loved my first two years here with different management, these last two years we have has mediocre/poor management companies. Why would you pay so much for “luxury living” when you will be treated you like you live in a two-star hotel, this company wants to charge you for any little thing. Safe to say I did not renew my lease and have not looked back.
They will tow your car even if you have a permit that is visible on your window.
Let me start by saying this place deserves 0 stars. Management is incompetent, difficult to deal with and impossible to get ahold of. Multiple packages of mine were stolen even though they were delivered around noon and I was home by 5:00 pm. Of course no one in the leasing office ever cared about this problem but why would they when they have a bunch of small time drug dealers living (working) there?? Another big problem, dog poop. EVERYWHERE. It’s hard to blame the residents when the apartment complex has no green areas for dogs. My biggest issue though was having someone from the staff tell me I couldn’t submit a termination notice without military orders but that I didn’t need to keep the apartment for X number of days after submitting orders. Well guess what? They made me pay for an additional month after my husband and I had to move because he was getting deployed because his orders came in middle of the month and our notice wouldn’t be effective for 30 days after the 1st of the next month. Way to support your military and not own up to your staff’s mistakes. Lastly, the assistant manager is writing reviews about how awesome this place is... seriously?? I’m sure she’s responding to herself too. Just do yourself a favor and go somehwhere else. Even if it’s a bit more expensive, it’s worth it. I’ve lived in 8 apartment complexes in the last 10 years, this is by far THE WORST.
If you want to pay above market prices to be treated badly then by all means move here Rental staff is rude.
I moved into an apartment thinking it would be like any other apartment I'd lived in. It was nice, the staff is very attentive and I overall loved my apartment. But I was invited to Holiday party in the lounge that the staff had hosted and I was beyond impressed! There was delicious food, a bartender and even live music! I was blown away. I have never lived in an apartment complex that made me excited to live there. I would definitely recommend living here!
I lived here for three years while I was in college. I was one of the first residents here and I've seen the building grow. This was my first complex I lived in. I loved it because it was close to school and it was modern. But while I lived here, I had problems and since I lived here for so long, you're going to get a long list of experiences. The first day I moved in, the AC was out. A couple of months later, my bike was stolen. I later moved into a one bedroom with a view of the resort pool. Great view until the summer comes and there's screaming children while you're trying to study. The walls were thin. You could hear everything including your neighbors. I always had a silverfish problem while living here. They blended with the grey walls. I worked nights and had to start carrying pepper spray since the gate was always broken and the complex is surrounded by motels that cater to homeless and prostitutes (yes I've seen one) and we had loiters come in. Sometimes at night, sometimes hanging by the pool. I even had my car cover stolen. I found it on someone else's car. When I told the police and showed them the car, it was actually reported stolen. So yes, someone stole a car and parked in on the complex I lived in. After I graduated I got an opportunity to live in Los Angeles. When it was time to figure out if I was renewing my lease, I told them no since I was going away. Reminder: I don't look at my contract every day or have it memorized and this was my first complex I've lived in, I thought my verbal response was good enough. When I started moving, I was told that I had to write them a 60 day notice. I couldn't afford paying rent for two more months and I thought we agreed to consider this as a skip. The next day I got an eviction notice. The 1111 ruined my credit over miscommunication. So don't waste your money. There are plenty of nice apartments in San Antonio.
I have been living at this apartment complex for seven months and I am happy to say that it is everything I have wished for. As a student, finding a safe, close place to school that is somewhat affordable was truly a challenge. 1111 Austin Hwy has everything I need to feel safe. Having a gated entry way is something important to me because I needed to make sure my car would be okay in the middle of the night. I like modern living, and my complex has provided me with clean finishes and a nice looking kitchen. Everything about this complex is beautiful and am glad that I have the opportunity to stay here.
