A hip residential neighborhood west of Asheville, this community is home to some of the city’s best specialty shops, restaurants, and breweries. West Asheville is a hotspot for tourism, especially for craft beer connoisseurs. New Belgium Brewing Company, Archetype Brewing, UpCountry Brewing Company, and Oyster House Brewing Company are just a few of the best places to grab craft beer in town. Separated from Downtown Ashville by the French Broad River, West Asheville has a unique vibe to it. Along with breweries, Haywood Road is lined with retro music venues, lively brunch spots, and eclectic eateries. When residents aren’t enjoying craft brews or local eats, you’ll find them enjoying the crisp mountain air and riverfront views at French Broad River Park or Carrier Park.

Literally the best office and maintenance staff ever! Maintenance is always so quick to get the job done and the office folk are quick and friendly and always answer. I’ve lived in a lot of apartments and this is the best experience I’ve ever had. I also love my wonderful home and the neighbors I have! Very happy with the Reserve!!!

Property Manager at Reserve at Asheville, Responded To This Review
Hello, Thank you so much for taking time to leave your review. We appreciate your kind words and hope we can continue to deliver you 5-star service!
Where even to begin... Unlike most people leaving reviews, I haven't had much of a problem with the Reserve management. However, perhaps that's being overshadowed by the incalculable awfulness of every single neighbor in a 500 ft radius of my apartment. The people here are hostile, unbelievably inconsiderate, and honestly some of the most unpleasant people you can hope to find in the Asheville area. The walls are paper-thin so you get the pleasure of hearing the people below, behind, and to either side of you yelling at each other, arguing, or having sex at ungodly hours of the night. On several occasions I have witnessed people getting into literal screaming matches....over parking. Or lack thereof. These people are seriously cutthroat about where they park their cruddy, dinged-up Honda Civics, and god forbid you accidentally park in "their spot." Should you have the extreme misfortune of living near one of the dog parks, you'll be plagued night and day by the unending drone of people's misbehaving dogs barking at nothing or fighting with each other. Every time I leave my apartment I'm accosted by people's dogs charging the fence and barking like crazy. Every. Time. My lovely neighbors, meanwhile, just stare at their phones or into space as their terrible animal continues to follow me along the fence line, barking and snarling. It seems almost a scientific anomaly that so many bad people could live in such a concentrated area. Possibly everyone's hostile, hateful behavior is just a result of strain from living in such close quarters all the time. Whatever the case, please don't move here. You will pay way too much money just to be miserable, and Asheville is definitely not worth it.
Where do I start? I rented from them for 1 year, and my lease was up in February so I chose not to resign. The walls are paper thin to the point you can hear your neighbors going to the bathroom. The roofs have mold on them, or moss of some sort, and my packages were stolen off of my front porch a fair amount of times. Jeremy one of the office staff members made it a point to come into the gym every morning when people were working out, walk on the treadmill, and gossip loudly on his phone disturbing things for everyone. Apparently I lived on the troubled area, someone had vandalized a neighbors car and left a nasty note. Jeremy was real good about calling people and asking if "they had something they would like to tell him." Then ask, "were you doing this last night." When I advised I was out of town on vacation and can send him proof, as if he is the police, he would perk up and then say what the incident was. I severed ways no hard feelings, performed a walkthrough, and paid my last months rent, gave him a forwarding address, and went about my way. Now here we are almost September, no coorespondence from this apartment complex, and I got a tap on my credit for a collection agency that is attached to them. No attempts to contact me, no attempts to say "hey you owe us more money." You betcha I am going to go above them and get a lawyer, and make sure everyone is aware of how this apartment complex treats customers. Just another place trying to make money off of people apparently.
The walls are so thin you can hear neighbors opening their cupboards and having casual conversation. If you live downstairs be prepared to hear walking and dogs running. And you aren't allowed to complain about noise because you sign a "thin wall" agreement. The windows are so cheap you can hear every conversation in the parking lot. Such a shame because the maintenance crew is super nice, which is such a rare thing!
Lived here for a year and I love it. I was moving from out of state and I wasn't able to view the apartment ahead of time. Whitney was amazing getting everything together for me, including an in-unit washer and dryer. The apartment complex is very safe because it's tucked away up Leicester Hwy. My one bed/1 bath apartment is super spacious and I LOVE my bathroom. Huge counter space and little shelves in my shower wall! Kitchen counter space is nice. I'm so sad to be leaving because of my job.
The Reserve at Asheville has been a great choice for us. We have been here 4 years and love being able to walk our dog and play with him in the 2 dog parks. The staff in the front office and maintenance are very professional and caring for our needs. It's one of only a few gated communities and has a beautiful pool with a kitchenette. From our apartment, we have a 180 degree view that's amazing all year long.
I live in the most beautiful town and beautiful neighborhood but my wallet does not think it is so pretty. Made it (barely) through my first year post college and I am still struggling. This contest would allow me to actually save money instead of living pay check to pay check. I love where I live and would hate to move at the end of my lease because I can't afford it. *fingers crossed* -Haley
We had high hopes when we first looked at these apartments. It's billed as a gated community; which we were really happy about. We understand that during high peak times they keep the gate open to avoid back ups. However, we have a hard time when the gate is open for 24 hours a day for no reason. We are also having a problem with the ventilation. The tenant below us seems to be a smoker and smokes inside. The smoke has started to seep into our belongings. When we move from here everything will have to be washed and sprayed down. Including our furniture. Our neighbors are not very loud which is lucky as the walls are extremely thin. The maintenance team is great and are quick to respond.
I went to check out the apartments and moved in two weeks later, every thing is fine.
This used to be a great apartment community when it was known as Asheville Springs. But since "The Reserve" elites took over it's become a more expensive and unpleasant place to live. The maintenance guys are still great. Although morale is low, they still take good care of the property and it's residents. The front office is the problem. All smiles and reassurances when you tour the property, once you sign the lease you become another serf to order about and receive Royal Inquisitions regarding your Grievous Transgressions against the Crown. Be sure to read the fine print on the lease.
The office manager is the door reason for this rating. She truly seems to enjoy the moment she is able to tell you something bad. She is an absolutely infuriating witch, and she alone makes me not want to renew my lease. Don't live here, everywhere else I have lived in town the office staff has been nice. This place is not worth it.
The community was built in 2009 so it looks nice and has decent interrior features--like garden tubs, walk-in closets, brushed nickel trim, ceiling fans. However, it is shoddily put together. Luckily the maintenance staff is reliable and friendly and tries to get to things in a timely fashion. The worst thing is that the office staff is totally unprofessional. The manager in charge is a spiteful lady, not at all interested in real problem-solving. Whenever there is a problem with residents not following the rules, they seem to relish in making EVERYONE suffer instead of dealing directly with the offenders. Instead of taking direct action to punish people that break rules, they just make new stricter blanket rules that punish EVERYONE. The latest example of their reactionary mandates is a new list of pool rules. WE ARE NOW NOT EVEN ALLOWED TO HAVE COOLERS AT THE POOL?!?!!?!?
Seriously, this place is terrible. Management is terrible. The apartments are built terribly. Has gates but they are never closed. I could go on for ages. Seriously, do yourself a favor, spend your money elsewhere and stay far away.
#1) This place has better views than any apartment complex in Asheville. Hands-down. It sits right next to a huge empty area of farmland and mountains on the edge of town. If you are moving to the mountains to see actual mountains, move here. #2) The apartments are very nice/new. We live in one of the updated apartments with marble, crown molding, etc. and love it. Nicer than any apartment I have ever lived in. Plus, most of the apartments come with a huge garage included. Does anyone realize how rare that is in an apartment complex? #3) The community is fantastic. People are walking dogs day and night, grilling out, enjoying a craft beer, etc. Everyone is approachable and kind. #4) It is gated. I've known people who moved to South/North Asheville (to nice apt. complexes) that have had their cars broken into. Not here. There is a gate and you must live here to open it. Very safe. #5) The staff is great. I think the issues other reviewers reported must have been due to the transition period when the new company bought the complex. I have experienced no issues with the staff or maintenance. They are approachable and will answer and/all questions fully. Trust me, I call them all the time. Overall, a great place to live. Very happy here.
nice place for living and great city for relax and enjoy
I am a new resident and selected this apartment community after looking at several others. So far, my experience has been very positive. My apartment is beautiful, the location is terrific, the management staff are attentive and my neighbors are friendly.
with a new management staff the place has gone downhill faster the can be imagined. Ofiice staff is quick to make excuses and promises you things will get better. It aint gonna happen. After living here we are moving as well as many others and cant wait to leave hopefully someone will buy this company out with some money to correct things only time will tell. run away fast
