Residence at Brookside

I recently relocated to Richmond from South Carolina and came across these apartments. The young ladies that I spoke with did a virtual tour with me on a townhouse and told me it would be ready upon my arrival. After traveling over 400 miles, I was shown a completely different apartment. I was livid!!! I immediately went back to the office and said this is not what I agreed to. The heat didn't work, the premises has loads of trash overflowing the trash cans, the apartment was not cleaned properly, bugs were on the wall, some were dead in the corners of the apartment, and most importantly there was no washer and dryer connection that I had requested. I was given a phone number to reach out to corporate on 2/12/2024 and as of today 2/16/2024 I had not received a phone call yet. Do yourself a favor and run like hell away from this apartment complex.

Scheduled an apt viewing, got a confirmation text, drove all the way to the apts, just to be told they don't have any apts to view. A complete waste of time. I'm so glad I didn't put my app in. The staff seemed to not care at all about the inconvenience.

The management doesn’t answer the phone when you call. They are quick to try to put you off if you only a couple days late on the rent but if you have an issue they don’t try to solve it in a timely manner. They are all about money and they promise the gate would be fixed and it’s been a year. They need better security also I hear guns shots on occasion. I will be glad when my lease up.

The staff is a mess here. There's a million reasons you always need to go into the office to sort things out, and so does everyone else. They never answer their phones, or their emails, and often do shady things to wrest more money from you whenever they can. It's a shame because things could be good here if management didn't actively try to make life worse for the residents.

Our community has had many changes in the last year as well as staffing and we can honestly tell how the new staff members are involved with the tenants. They have shown to care of our well bieng and also make sure we are well taken care of.

I have many compliments on this community. This has been a really good year for brookside because they have made so many changes in such little time. we have gates at both entrances now and have survellience 24/7 and maintenace is on board and up to day fixing what we need fixed.

The property has improve a lot with new management . they have done new amenities Like dog park, kids park and soccer field just to name a few. The Property Manager and his Leasing Team are awesome always ready to help. Thank you!

We have had alot of changes in the past year and are grateful for them. New Management has done many changes and are on top of pest control which has made a difference in our community. Staff is always on top of satisfying their tenants and make us feel comfortable as a community.

Very involved community with staff that has shown us we can count on them and any issues we have we get attended quite quickly. Maintance is very responsible and has completed all the work orders we have made. Thank you for the changes and the saftey that new management is providing.

Our community has done the effort to make this a better community and has gone above and beyond to make its tenants feel appreciated. The customer service is doing its job. Pest control does its weekly inspections and they are always on top of our health and health hazards.

I am pleased with all the renovations the property is making and for being attentive to the residents.

Our community has made the effort to make us feel comfortable as well as a community. We dont have roaches and have been living here for the past 6 years. we have been checked and properly asked to fumigate our building. Pest control is done weekly. Maintance is key and is always looking to fix our issues. I highly recommend this community.

I have lived here for 7 years and have never seen the community come together as it recently had. The maintance is up to day and usually contact us as soon as we place an order. I highly recommend Brookside Residences they are a community that wants a safe atmosphere for us.

I think the amenities are nice and make it a more family like atmoshpere. Many changes are bieng made and we are very grateful for the event bieng held for the community as well. Customer service is expectacular and maintance is up to day in our necesities.

We love the care and importance that brookside has in its tenants. It has had a great improvement with new owners, when you have a maintenance issue it gets resolved as soon as possible. Pest control is in control anand is becoming a roach free environment. I strongly recommend it.

We have many amenities and we enjoy them. We have noticed the changes and all the events that we are enjoying as a community. Maintenance is always on board and on top of our needs. We appreciate the staff that is always professional and sweet. Thank you for Taco Thursday.

I've been living here for 3 years and seen a lot of changes . The office staff has always been very helpful and nice to me and my family. I love all of the resident events that Management has going on now such as Taco Tuesday, & Wine down Wednesday.... just to name a couple. The new management makes a real effort to keep the community informed of up coming events and important things to know by sending out email blasts and putting notices on our doors in a timely manner. I'm excited to see all of the new renovations taking place !

Thank you Brookside for the changes we are seeing around my community from new entry gates, cameras, playgrounds, soccer fields finally a feeling of excitment for my kids. We love beign here and are trying to get my sisters family to join us.

I am very please with all the new amenities and renovations the property is working on. Such great staff I live here myself for the past 2 years. My favorite leasing agent is Eunice she is very helpful and takes her time to help you out. The maintenance team has got better and the new property manager Scott is awesome. I recommen living here you will feel at home great location. I have not had activity of pest issues like people state it’s the way we maintain our living. Hope residents stop taking advantage of this great community and help maintain it as the new management is making this community a better place. Great job.

I have been a resident since 2013, and for the past year I have witness great changes to the community. My wife and I are very satisfied with the changes that's been happening and the renovations. We are very pleased with the great customer service we have received from staff members. Now that the community is building new amenities and residents are being appreciated with events and help with maintenance, we are looking forward to staying another year and renewing our lease. Anyone looking for an apartment in Richmond, should definitely look to applied here at Residences at Brookside.

I have been living here for the past 3 years. Never before was there any fun things to do. With this new management my family and I are really happy on the changes that have been happening here. We love the friendly nice staff in the office that makes us feel like home. Maintenance is awesome than before. My children enjoy the new playgrounds, resident events that there is every week. I recently moved into Brookside from Georgia to be near my family in Chesterfield and the transition was easy and stress free. I was worried because I rented my apartment sight unseen and off the website working with the leasing agent. When I arrived I was so happy with what I saw. The property was clean and a lot of changes I could see. My leasing lady was really helpful and allowed me to see my apartment a few days before I moved in and it was like I saw on line. I am happy to be here and finally near my family agian. Thank you Brookside for helping me come home to my family.

I have been a resident at Brookside for 6 years and the past 6 months management has changed and the community is so much more fun. yesterday we had a block party like we have never had here before and it was so FUN. They had jumpers, food, DJ and a lot of people just having a good time. There is still more happening. I am so happy I have stayed here the changes are exciting and we are happy. Thank you

The management team is quite apathetic, which leads to several complications in daily life. Roaches have been a huge problem since my second day here. Many of my neighbors and I were never given laundry cards, so we've been using the laundromat for months. I've been overcharged hundreds of dollars on rent, which took many weeks and three visits to the leasing office to fix. I'm yet to receive a parking pass, so I use the visitors lot a few streets down. I won't be renewing my lease.

The management is very attentive and very professional. There are NO COCKROACHES or any other type of pest. These apartments are great!

Great team and always happy to help when needed, whether calling the front desk for anything or for maintenance. They have some new renovations happening that will help the place more.

Reading the reviews on this property I was looking for a city housing projects, I feel that ArtCraft is cleaning up the mess from years of Town and Country living. My apartment was upgraded with new kitchen and bathroom. I have no problem with roaches or any pest at this time. Lauren in the leasing office is ALWAYS on point with any problems I may have she document and entry the issues in to the computer and Maurice in the maintenance will stop in and see if he can help in anyway. I'm looking forward to a gated community real soon. ArtCraft is cleaning up the problems from Town and Country it will take time

This place is being renovated on the outside, streets fixed & Gates to deceive ppl! Do not let the model they show deceive you! They don't like when you complain about the stuff falling apart in your apartment. They get a attitude, maintenance don't come fix anything for months & when they finally do it's still not fixed. You pay your bills & it's not entered into the system fill days later then you get noncompliance notices & they always have an excuse why so that you have to pay it tho its bs!! They don't care about the residents safety there no lights or fire alarm in the hall which I complained about months ago but still nothing. Don't get trapped living here it's a dump. If you don't want bugs you're better off calling a company on your own & paying out of pocket b/c the ppl they send spray water that does nothing & the office hardly call them to do anything. It's just terrible ppl have to live this way & it's not even worth the rent. Better record everything & take pictures the shadiness is real!

Renting apartment at Brookside in Richmond, VA there office staff is very unorganized, unprofessional! I received a notice that i owed for Oct rent when I paid on time on 10/4/2017. THEY WILL LOSE YOUR PAYMENTS! . The assistant property manager is extremely rude and does not utilize any customer service skills with residents. They purchased the property from Quest and did not update my records which I receive a discount for working for Richmond Public Schools . They have a unlawful detainer and pending judgment for someone that has proof of payments on time.

Don't rent from this place. We submitted an application and was told it would take 3 days for credit/background check to come back. On the 3rd day of not hearing anything I e-mailed and called to find out the status. I never got a response to the e-mail and no one picked up the phone. I couldn't even leave a message because the voicemail box was full. A week later they tried to say that there was information missing on our application. 1. We gave all the info needed. 2. Why would you not verify that you have everything you need on the application before we even left the office? Then they said that we were supposed to contact them about the credit/background check. NO! That's not our job AND I did try to contact them. They text me saying they needed my work information (which I gave already on the application). I told them that they were impossible to get a hold of and took way too long to even contact us so we went somewhere else. I was then told I could get the $100 admin fee refunded and when I got there they told me I couldn't have it because we were cancelling our application. When asked why I was told otherwise, their response was 'I don't know, sorry, have a day nice.' This place is not worth it.

These apartments are not worth the hassle and stress. To start off, I had to deal with unprofessional and lackluster service from the office staff during my full 12 months there. They say one thing then do another plus NO ONE answers the phone even when the office isn’t busy. This is a big problem because the only way I have ever been able to get in contact with them, whether an issue is big or small, is by taking time off and going to the office in person. The apartments have a very strong musty smell that won’t go away (believe I tried almost everything), mold problems and a very, very bad infestation of roaches. You can’t even leave food out for 10 minutes without a colony of roches getting your food. They come from the stove, behind the refrigerator, in the vents and a lot of other places. Believe me, if there are other options, take advantage of those instead of these apartments. Don’t be fooled by them saying “We are under new management now and things are changing for the better”. Been there done that. Just read the previous negative reviews of this place and the same stuff that’s described, goes on now. Please stay far away if your budget will allow it.

Roaches rent apartment with you. Call office over and over never get anyone. Bathroom tub clogs up while showering. They paint the sink and tub with paint instead of buying new sink and tub.. Very dissatisfied.

Ridiculously poor service. Applied for an apartment, gave a 100 dollar administration fee on top of a 40 dollar application fee. Was told if the application did not go through would get the 100 back. Was approved, but they had already sold the one we had agreed on and didn't have another till weeks after we had agreed to. Asked for the 100 back, was told that I was cancelling the agreement. DO NOT BOTHER WITH THEM. The whole business is shady.

Inconsiderate office staff. Roaches everywhere. Never any parking. Charge $150 for pest control rescheduling. Mold in kitchen and bathroom. I wish I saw previous reviews.

There is never parking available, roaches are a big problem here, the leasing office never answers the phone, the parking area has major pot hole problems and full of small rocks that will give you tire problems, the apartments lack proper ventilation, mold is a huge issue here (they send maintenance to bleach it that's it...no proper mold remediation)...the list goes on and on. You have been warned!!!
