Resting along the Gulf of Mexico, Central City is a small neighborhood and commercial hub. The neighborhood is home to Galveston’s 61st Street Fishing Pier, so many locals spend their free time fishing or participating in other watersports. Although Central City has some local charm, people come from all over Texas to enjoy a fun-filled day at the beach and some of the best seafood in the city. Locals and visitors alike enjoy going to nearby Schlitterbahn Waterpark Galveston and Moody Gardens, a 242-acre amusement park with a zip line, aquarium, and more. Along with easy beach access, residents enjoy proximity to Downtown Galveston, which is about four miles away.

Jeannie and Tanesha are fantastic! They are always around to help out and quick to answer any questions I have. As well as making me feel comfortable and at home. Most leasing agents make me feel like I'm bothering them or that I am interrupting their day but not Jeannie and tanesha. For them it's not just a job they actually care about residents. At other places I've lived I avoided the common areas feeling out of place but here it is an actual community that makes you feel welcome. Where you actually know your neighbors. Sam and Kenny the maintenance guys are wonderful and quick to fix any problems you have. The apartments are also being renovated and are gorgeous with granite countertops. It's only a two minute walk to the becah which is a plus for someone like me that loves the beach.
I've been a resident for a few months. I came into a renovated apartment from out of state. Jeanie went out of her way to get our lease signed and get us our keys. I don't know what I would have done if she hadn't been available to answer questions on the phone. She actually gave me her personal phone number, in case any problems arose at move in. They are renovating everything here, so you have to plan in advance. The maintenance people are great. The apartment is a short walk to the beach and walmart is right behind us. Very handy location. The whole complex is very dog & pet friendly.
I love the people at this complex. They are so very, very helpful and always so very kind and go out of their way to help with any problems you may be having. The renovations are going on at this time and they keep the noise to a minimum around your apartments and the mess from your door. If you have a maintenance problem they immediately take care of the issue you may be having and they are all very sincere and helpful and very kind to everyone.
Jeannie has to be the rudest person I've ever met/spoke to on the phone. Absolutely inflexible and will not go out of their way for potential new residents. What a terrible way to have residents. I'd rather be at a much worse apartment then deal with people like this. Don't believe me? Try them out yourself. Give them a call and have them explain to you their "procedures." I'll go with living at a much worse looking apartment with better management, thanks. And they will fail to mention any dissents unless you mention it themselves. Thanks but no thanks. The manager is nice but Jeannie, terrible. What a terrible, terrible start.
New management, and they seem to think they are running the Ritz Carlton. Evidentially, "faux" aka fake wood floors and "faux" granite countertops qualify them to call themselves Upscale, and raise the rent, and kick out tenants that have been there for years. I refer to the old adage "if you put lipstick on a pig.....it's still a pig". The apartments are old, with actual water marks (YES!!) still on some of the interior walls from Ike. The leasing agents are RUDE RUDE RUDE, and nothing like the island life atmosphere that you want when moving or living in Galveston. It used to be a great place to live. The tenants were friendly, the leasing office girls were nice and pleasant, (tough on following the rules but you want that where you live). You've been warned....if you choose to live here it's at your own risk.
Located less than a mile from the seawall, residents at the Residence at West Beach receive the benefits of being close to the beach, shopping areas, and many urban amenities. The apartments also offer great residential amenities such as a laundry room, gym, volleyball court, outdoor grilling areas, and have added a small movie room and a business room for an added bonus. There is a quaint bayou located behind the apartments which add charm. You'll fall in love with these apartments!
We moved out ASAP after being fooled. This place hasn't changed.
This is a quiet little complex with friendly staff and neighbors.
My husband & I moved here a little over a year ago & we LOVE it! The management is wonderful! We had a few problems with our ac unit & fridge, they fixed everything very quickly! All of our neighbors are wonderful, not only are they friendly, they are family oriented & we watch out for each other. If you are looking for a safe & friendly place to live, Residence at West Beach is the place for you!
For it being my first time ever renting an apartment, I never expected to find the place I have! I spent weeks looking at so many different places and none seem to be cutting it! Residence at West Beach, is the best place I could have ever chosen! I almost feel like it chose me! For a 20 year old full time college student, I seriously couldn't have asked for anything better! My apartment is so beautiful and so comfortable and the people here both employee and residence are amazingly nice and friendly! The people at my apartment all gather up for weekly things like donut day and movie nights in the lobby! This helped me a lot when it came to socializing in a new city. I instantly made friends and my health lately has been phenomenal with the help of the 24 hour gym the apartment complex provides! Oh and the pool is just right for both summer and winter with its heated feature of course! Seriously best decision I could have ever made on the place I now call home!
The office staff has changed and the manager is by far the rudest person I have ever talked to! Please think twice before you try to sign a lease!!
Staff changed over in 2013 for the worse! They lost all paperwork, required residents to repay deposits, and refused to send maintenance! Staff does not care about any of it's residents to the point of never opening the main office some days! They are rude, terrible people. Only move here if you hate yourself.
Management is terrible after changing a management company in 2013. Avoid this place.
Apartments are moldy and management tries to cover up the problem. Pool is always filled with neighborhood children who trash the area. Management is compassionate or caring when hot water heater floods six units. Instead of focusing attention to the apartments families reside in, manager is more concerned about fixing her own future home and has maintenance focus on it. Six units were flooded by one water heater and all management would do was barely discount the next months rent. Not enough reimbursement to cover the lost days wage. Management doesn't even greet residents when they pass on property. Apartments may look nice, but don't let that fool you from the sub par management. Bring a dehumidifier if you're already trapped in a lease.
