Property Ratings at Reston Glade
This place is the most horrible place I have ever lived at. For a non smoking community they sure do smoke up a storm, people play soccer in their apartments late at night so all you here is bang bang bang and everything in your apartment moves. Management is horrible, I think they find them at the five and dime store. No one here has any respect for anyone else. Little kids unsupervised play in the parking lot at night, one of them already got hit by a car because people race in and out. Some tenants have died in their apartment due to drug overdoses,. people kick in other people's apartment doors looking for stuff. Barking dogs all night. Etc...
I understand severe staffing issues during the pandemic, but we haven't had consistent trash removal for months at Reston Glade. All dumpsters are constantly overflowing into the surrounding parking lots/sidewalks, and we don't seem to have professional trash removal any more. Sometimes one or two people will come and load garbage by hand into the back of a truck and take it away, but that's it. At times, the piles of waste almost obscure the dumpsters. It's an eyesore, but it's also unhygenic and dangerous. The rent is great here and I love the apartment layouts and location, but if you don't want to live in a landfill, reconsider.
I'm sorry to say this is the WORST place I have ever lived. Not only was it infested with cockroaches but the management was horrible to top if off one night there was a gun fight in the parking lot and our car took the brunt of it. We have 5 bullet holes through our car and if someone had been sitting in the passenger seat of the car the would not have survived. we have tried and tried to work with the management and they are not willing to help. There also was a stabbing in there parking lot a few weeks later
The office is slow to return your calls (unless you like calling 5+ times a day), maintenance often takes a week to do anything, parking is an absolute nightmare, and residents will key your car. Sometimes you get to meet nice dogs, but that's really the only thing this place has going for it.
I lived here for 5.5 years and hated it! For 6 months I was forced to live next door to a drug dealer. The cops were there six times, 8 people complained about him to management did nothing. It got so bad that people moved out of the building and even then, they still allowed him to stay until the end of his lease. ! It was a very traumatic experience. The whole neighborhood has a drug problem. The management inspects your apartment all the time for tidyness but apparently not for drugs. So glad I moved.
After finding out we were adding a baby to our family, we went on a search for a new, three-bedroom apartment to ensure we had enough space for our growing family. We came across Reston Glade apartments and were thrilled to find out they had apartments with hardwood floors, as this was one of my requirements in a new place. After reserving the apartment, we were sent the lease, which we signed within 12 hours and received the welcome letter from Nora. We quickly called our current apartment and put in our notice and agreed to pay thousands of dollars to break our lease almost an entire year early. We did all this and more to ensure we had everything set up in our new home before the baby came. Just a few days later, the General Manager, Amen, called us and told us that the apartment had been leased to me incorrectly. He would not be able to honor our legally binding contract. A contract that we had already signed. He told us that any apartment he could get us by November 1st, if he could even secure one for us, would not have hardwood floors or a washer and dryer in the unit at all. If you ever call the community, you will notice that it is basically impossible to get ahold of anyone, and they never call back if you leave a voicemail. During the whole process, they have been hard to get ahold of and frustrating when we have gotten ahold of them, even though we have proactively tried to resolve this by reaching out to them several times and trying to work out a solution. So now here I am, months away from adding a baby to the family, in a contract with a company that is now refusing to honor the original agreement. I already put my notice in at my current apartment and do not know if we will find a place to live in time. To say that they were completely unprofessional and put me in one of the most stressful situations I have ever been in (all while being pregnant, taking care of our other child, and working full time) would be an understatement. I will NEVER rent from a Gates Hudson community after this experience, and I suggest to anyone reading this to stay as far away as possible. For a community with no pool and with apartments only 100 sq ft bigger than my current 2 bedroom apartment (for which I pay 300 dollars a month less than I would at this place), all of this (or even a fraction of this) is absolutely not worth it
Since all the reviews here were super old I thought I'd give my review. I've really enjoyed living in this apartment. It's usually pretty quiet here. We've got walking trails behind the building that eventually lead you to a Safeway shopping center. The management has always been friendly and helpful, and they've done a lot of improvements since we moved in a year ago. They've thrown a few parties for the residents with really good food - they did a thanksgiving dinner, and a Christmas dinner since we've been here. Service requests have always been done pretty quickly, either same day or next day. Verizon Fios was just installed on the buildings, so that will be available soon. Whenever it snowed, the maintenance guy was out there salting the sidewalks - he's also very friendly. There's a really nice playground/picnic area that's shaded by trees. Our apartment was really clean when we moved in, and we haven't had any bugs. They have staff that goes through the parking lot picking up trash and debris, so it's pretty clean. My complaints - we did have a neighbor underneath us that was smoking in their apartment, so for a while our apartment was smelling like smoke. We complained to management a few times, and they eventually had them evicted, I believe. The doors on the apartments have a spring on them, so the door will slam shut if you don't close it gently, and I do hear slamming doors throughout the day. The parking lot is "open parking", but if you don't have the sticker on your car it will get towed after a certain time (I think it's like 10pm). The gym is nice to have, but many of the machines are either broken or missing the pin that lets you select the weight. The trash area is pretty gross because people can't be bothered to aim for the trash bin. And it costs $2.09 to use the washer and dryer, so one load will cost you $4.18. That adds up quickly. They do several different inspections throughout the year and you don't have to be home for them, which kind of bothers me, but I do like that they are proactive and taking care of their apartments. Overall I would recommend this apartment.
Ihave been living here since 2015 in start my experince was goood but since the managment has changed...OMG!!! Since april 3 managers are changed n nO 1 knows wats going On... they are totally blank with the situation... since im living here washing machines are useless... no doubt they did clean the parking area but its so mUx crowded that sometimes u wont find parking easily infront of ur apartment... but with this mUx price its Ok!!! U cannot expct more from them...we will be planning to mOve out...
I've been living here for a year, and my experience has been average. I chose the apartment because it was significantly cheaper than comparable apartments in the area. There is an issue with cockroaches. I hear every conversation from my next door neighbor and noise from up above. My next door neighbors smoke weed and cigarettes and the smell wafts through. Towing is enforced for all non-residents after 7 pm with no visitor parking. Street parking is hit or miss, cars parked on the street are always getting hit by traffic. There is often trash and smashed glass outside, and I've had people bother me in the parking lot for money. The laundry is shared, the payment card machine is often broken. One of the two washing machines in my building has been broken for the entire time I've lived here. These were all things I was willing to live with for the price. Management was helpful and polite, and the maintenance staff was great. The head fellow was always helpful and friendly. A new management company came in and fired and replaced everyone. They're instituting all sorts of "improvements," and increasing rent. I receive 24-48 hour notice that I can't park in the parking lot while they repave for an entire day, several days a week, for multiple weeks. They were towing cars left and right and charging residents for it. 24-48 hours notice that I have to move all of my furniture 6 inches away from the walls and lock my cat in the bathroom for 3 days while a pest company sprays (for the cockroaches and a bedbug infestation). The office staff is horrible. I've never thrown thousands of dollars at such rude, unfriendly, unhelpful people. If they were being rude to me while being helpful and doing their jobs, I could tolerate it. But they don't. They never answer the phone, they don't return my phone calls, they accept my packages and can't find them, and if I walk into the office, I am met with blank stares and irritability. If I were calling them with unnecessary complaints and dissatisfaction, maybe this would make sense. But I only make contact with them to pay my bill or pick up packages. I'd have continued living here with the cockroaches and broken glass and parking lot harassment, the towing, everything. For the price, it was worth it. But I'd never pay more money to live here and deal with the terrible office staff any longer than the few months I have endured already.
I received a valid quote from this business on a apartment. I followed through with the quote and a group of us gave Homestead at Reston a deposit and our information for a apartment. They gave us a lease to sign and we all signed the lease along with an application fee. They now are saying they made a mistake and they shouldn't have given us a lease for less than 6 months. They will not honor our 3 month lease. This surprise came after they have talked to us via email and phone several times (after we signed the lease) with no indication that they this was a "policy" of theirs. They will give us the application fee and the deposit back, so their isn't any major financial impact. The issue is with their business practices and waiting to tell us and not being willing to live up to the quote and the lease presented to us.
Despicable customer service, they backed out on a lease without any indication, a while after us tenants signed it. They did not honor the lease presented to us nor the Quote given to us. They half-heartily admitted it was their mistake, but it does not excuse all they did to us. Working with the BBB on informing more people about their business practices, please take my advice: Do not do business with these people.
I rented here, the first apartment had a guy that smoked downstairs and the construction quality is such that the smoke would seep up through the floor presenting a very strong odor- apparently he work up at 3:00am to go to work because thats the time I would wake up like my head was in an ashtray full of burning cigarettes. After complaining several times, and finally in writing they moved me to another unit that was OK. That February, their snow plow guy nearly took the bumper off my car, tearing the plastic fender open. Normally no big deal, we exchanged info- but then my insurance company let me know that the insurance info they gave me was a policy that evidently hadn't been paid so their snowplow guy was completely uninsured. I raised the issue with the manager and she told me to get an estimate, which I did- but they never reimbursed me for the estimate so i could get my car fixed. On top of that, at move out time, they charged for all kinds of things including $110 for cleaning after we cleaned that place top to bottom for 6 hours when we moved out. So now I have to go through the hassle of taking them to court. Skip this place. Also, when they show you the "Model" you should ask to see the actual apartment that you rent because the actual units are waaaay worse.
I am living in Reston Glen apartment and it is small apartment but good with decent living space and good community. The only bad i dint liked is some times the pet owners keeps dogs free which was risky at times.
It's pretty clean, but it seems as if they always want to come in your home for something, matinees is not bad, but they could be a lot cleaner on where people put there trash, pretty much quit around here and my neighbors are nice.
My apartment i love it here, its so nice not dirty no insects. I would love to have free rent for life because this place is amazing.
