Retreat at Brightside

It’s a really great environment you don’t hear any outside noises around the complex. Other than the cars driving by but the community is very friendly and welcoming . Everyone minds their business and the apartment is secured with polices . It’s a great way to live affordable and comfortable. The managers are very nice and front office staff is helpful and very professional. The apartment itself is beautiful and luxurious if you’re looking for an amazing stay please give these a try .

I could go on and on about how negligent and disgusting this place is but I’d be wasting my time. If you wanna know how unprofessional this place is, they blocked me / deleted my comments on social media after I posted how bad it actual is. They won’t let me put in any maintenance requests, they won’t respond to my texts or calls the last few months either. Can’t take the truth.

Moved in April 2021, roaches were all over the floors, walls, but worst of all, the entire stove was flooded with roaches. I moved out November 2, 2021—roaches were still there, except worse. Yep, management never once answered my requests, in fact they refused to spray my apartment because I had a dog. We also battled maggots tirelessly. Awful place. Awful awful awful management.

The Staff and management have been so helpful and friendly since I have moved in. Also, the maintenance team is very helpful and do not take very long to fix any problems!

Grate commute to work and school. This is one of the best place I have lived in

The Retreat at Brightside has the best workers. The manager Mrs. Zee is very helpful and she make sure that everything gets handled. The leasing agents are fun to be around for resident events and are helpful as well. They make you feel very welcome and make sure you enjoy the property. I will definitely renew here!!

Being a first-time renter, I was really nervous about moving into an apartment by myself. The ladies in the front office calmed my nervous by assuring me that if I need help or had questions about anything they would be more than happy to help me. I haven't had an issue yet! Thank you ladies in the front office!

My experience has been so poor and I only moved in a week ago. I was met with an out of control roach infestation the second day I was there. Do not move here

Garbage. Gate is always broken. Parking lot floods with slightest chance of rain. Maintenance staff is unhelpful and unprofessional. Management is laughably incompetent. Literally any place in Baton Rouge is better to live at than here.

Attentive management, fast maintenance, and frequent resident festivities. I dig it here for sure.

I love living at the RETREAT! The location is prime for student lifestyles and the staff is so welcoming and helpful. They go out of their way to make residents feel at home. Also the affordability coupled with a very comfortable living arrangement can not be beaten. Definitely recommend!!!

A wonderful place to live at..Safe and friendly Also a great community

I've lived at the Retreat going on two years. The staff is wonderful. They always greet you with a smile, and truly know you by your name. You are not just a renter at the Retreat. The maintenance crew responds to your work order very quickly. Never had to wait 24 hours for any services. It is very peaceful and quite, even during LSU Football Season, and convenient to pretty much everything.

I’m glad I chose to stay here it’s really quiet the staff is very helpful and I love the events they have here.

The 5 star reviews that state that management is great, must've been written by management. The office staff is nice but aren't very helpful, because they make frequent mistakes, which only contributes to my already full plate dealing with school. The parking lot floods HORRIBLY when it rains! The walls are THIN. It's hard to study sometimes because you can hear everything, even when my neighbors make whoopie. I've also had large roaches that come and go, I can't wait until my lease is up.

The rent is cheap here but it doesn’t make up for the constant HUGE AMERICAN COCKROACHES that crawl through your apartment freely and the parking lot which floods all the way up to your porch making the entire lot UNWALKABLE. They also charge your electricity bills LATE (getting an April electric bill in JUNE) making it hard to keep up with what you’ve paid already. And I’ve caught them with receipts when they tried to charge me for the same electric bill twice for the same month. It’s all a front when you first consider moving here. This apartment complex is not worth the money! And no one picks their dogs poop up either

This is an awesome place to live! Our property manager, Zee, is very helpful and accommodating with any situation that is brought her attention! She is always welcoming when I walk into the office, as well as Kabrielle and Jaimini! This apartment complex is so close to LSU campus which is a plus for me! It is also very inexpensive compared to the other living complexes around the area! I highly recommend this apartment complex!

I just moved in and I can honestly say so far my experience has been great. The Community manager Zee is so sweet Ann’s really on top of things. maintenance is also fast and efficient! The community itself is pretty quiet and clean. I love it !

I loved living at the Retreat! My apartment was great and it was so close to LSU's campus that I could walk if I wanted to. If not, the bus was right there! I would definitely recommend living here!

There is no after hours phone number if you have an emergency maintainence issue and management does not work with you if there are issues with your apartment. The walls are very thin. At first glance it seems like a nice, new place to live, but you won't be able to sublease your apartment or break your lease (there's a $750 fee plus the total rent for the duration of your lease, so they charge you an additional $750 on top of what you would pay to live there without breaking your lease, which is ridiculous).

I lived at The Zone/The Retreat during the recent renovations. The new owners wanted to force the tenants out so they could raise the rent, and gave us 30 days notice to leave. They shut off our water and parked dumpsters in front of our building. They ripped the carpet out of a few units as they were vacated, and left them on the sidewalk in front of the building so that we had to walk through mud and flooded parking lots (also the parking lots flood) to reach our cars. Requests to remedy the situation initially were ignored. After a week, I had to hire an attorney to write a letter to get them to turn the water back on and move the carpets. The complex is not quiet, it is 2 blocks from the clubs in Tigerland where people get shot every year. There was a lot of through traffic as people walked from the cheaper apartments in Tigerland to the convenience store on Brightside. Panhandlers confronted me at least bimonthly, my car was broken into twice in 10 months, and my neighbor had his car window busted and his radio stolen. The units were spacious, and I was tempted because the complex is on the outskirts of Tigerland, but between unscrupulous owners and the noise/crime from Tigerland, I would not recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a quiet place to live and relax.

Very quiet complex located within walking distance to the LSU campus. Currently being renovated and is going to look great! The grounds are kept up well and all the staff here are really great! There is plenty of closet and cabinet space and each apartment has a private balcony or patio. Great for students or recent graduates who want a quiet place to live and relax!

My current apartment has some issues. Whenever they turn off the water my shower water pressure goes crazy. The apartment smells still of moth balls even though I have tried to get the smell to go away. They are currently renovating the complex which will raise the rental rate. I do not plan on staying there once all of the renovations are done because the rent will increase from $500 to $900 for a one bedroom apartment.
