Property Ratings at Retreat at Mesa Hills
Where to start. There is dog poop everywhere. Water leaks into these apartments. The water is shut off at the complex 1-5 times a month. They will make up fees and try to charge you of every last little thing to take your money. The gym isn’t 24/7 as advertised. Maintenance will get there eventually. It’s advertised as luxury but it is far from it.
I decided not to rent here because all the extra fees they don’t tell you until the end, and now they won’t give me my full deposit back. I’ve been sending emails for months now and they have just decided to ignore me and when I call they can never give me an answer! So if you are not 100% sure, don’t lose your money here.
Leaks, plagues, humidity, poor service, and significant increases at renewals. I have photos that would make you throw up. Work orders take weeks to be fixed if they ever get fixed, staff members not caring at all and units and amenities fallig apart. The pool was closed for the whole summer and opened in late September. I am writting the review since the humidity has not been taken care of for moths and now there are fungus all over and I had to throw away some furniture because of that.
If you’re looking for an apartment in El Paso, RUN FAR AWAY from this one! This is by far the worst apartment complex I’ve ever lived at. The apartments themselves are falling apart and they are not at all taken care of. The office staff are rude and incompetent and always preoccupied attending to personal matters (including babysitting a small child in the office). They have added additional charges to my rent on several occasions and refuse to give me a written itemized statement explaining the charges. If you call a work order it always takes weeks for them to complete it. I have complained to the management office on multiple occasions and nothing is ever done about it. If I could give them zero stars, I would.
I had a really bad experience here. Maintenance never helps, they never go to your apartment and mark your request as completed. My door never worked during the 10 months I lived there, and I called almost every day, nobody ever fixed my door. Robberies happen here, which made me feel unsafe, especially with the door that didn’t lock. They charge so many ridiculous fees, like maintenance fee and nobody comes to help. Avoid this olace if you can.
Leasing office and maintenance do not respond or do their job. It takes months to make the minimum required changes. For the price you're supposed to pay, I'm sure you can rent somewhere else for a much better value of your money.
Maintenance never shows I have rain water in my apartment and have called no help
The office staff will not help you, the manager is the only one who can resolve problems and its impossible to talk to, and there is a ver rude person on the office staff. You can be left without water with no notification whatsoever.
My wife and I toured several different apartment communities before deciding on Retreat at Mesa Hills. Some of which (including the Retreat) more than once. After our first tour here, we were very impressed not only with the apartment, but with the amenities as well. Not to mention Araceli, who was our rental agent, was very professional and down to earth. She made sure to keep all of our concerns in mind and answer all our questions. Of which we had many! After our first tour we started reading what reviews we could find for the property. And to be honest, many of them weren’t great. So my wife and I decided to visit with Araceli again and ask her about these unflattering reviews straight forward and see what her reaction was. She once again listened to our concerns and was very honest. She showed us, both with the property and on paper, that any issues we might have will be handled professionally and in a timely manner. I would definitely say that Araceli was a major part of our decision to sign with Retreat at Mesa Hills. Because we also visited many other communities that were very nice, but the staff treated us not so friendly. Good customer service is still very important even in these times!
After living 2 years, and not having trouble with work orders (maintenance staff are really good and helpful), always paid on time, never had a concern from office or neighbors, as soon as you become an ex-resident, office staff turn 360. I never had any problem but once I moved out, they wanted to charge me for a new carpet. When I turned in keys, I asked for a walkthrough but unfortunately because of COVID was not possible and trusted the office staff to be honest. They contacted me to let me know about the carpet (which was not in need of been changed and we left the apartment super clean) I was calling everyday to try to resolve this. I spoked to assistant manager (I believe his name is Daniel) and after 3 calls, I guess he got tired and just gave the corporate number (JRK) to let them know my problem. Obviously in the corporate on California, NEVER ANSWERED. I called again the office and asked to talk to manager. WORST DECISION EVER. The most ARROGANT person in customer service I have ever had to talk to. She didn’t let me explain, she was just making fun of my situation, very sarcastic and and the end her words were “WELL, what do you want? To take away the charge HAHAHA, good luck with that, because I could help you but I don’t want to” then I started to let her know how rude from her and that I wanted to get to an agreement, not to give me a gift, and she continued to be sarcastic “ Ahhaaa, ahhaaaa, what else? Are you done? because I really don’t care, and good luck trying to talk to corporate” and hanged out. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER from staff office.
Mold every on tub and toilet water smells like sewer building and painting is poorly made super expensive for what they give
Do you like moldy bathrooms? Broken windows? Loud ac units right outside your bedroom window? Sewer smell coming from kitchen sink and washing machine? Then welcome to your new home! You will love the main office and main pool, but don't be fooled! The second pool is never clean, there's water damage throughout the apartments. Faulty fans, some are electrical problems, other fans like to fall off the ceiling. Oh trash service is only $10 a month, but don't worry, the dumpsters are always full. Think management will help? They don't care as long as you pay your rent on time.
This appt. complex has alot of issues and the contract and leasing staff are liars and cheats. They will charge you for things that you reported to them were faulty and defective. The place is always full of bugs. The complex is noisy and the air conditioners & heating units are so loud and right next to the bed room windows. The rent goes up every year like 100 monthly. They dont care about the tenante just about ripping you off. Dont rent here.
Current resident here and the office lies about these apartments !!! They do not care about your problems and concerns once your in .. and all they do is tell you to move out of you wish which costs 2 grand to break the contract . And these apartments are PAPER THIN !!! U can hear your neighbors talk and even use the bathroom !!! Stay away at all costs !!!!!!!!!
If I could give 0 stars, I would. This apartment complex is HORRIBLE. The management is absolutely abysmal. One afternoon, I arrived to our apartment to find that our door had been left open, key inside the door with NO ONE inside the apartment. When management was called, they had no knowledge of why one of their employees were in our apartment. After weeks of calling the management and corporate offices, nothing was done. During the whole process, Daisy specifically, was rude and condescending. If you are thinking about renting from this establishment...DON’T. SAVE YOURSELF WHILE YOU CAN. RENT ELSEWHERE.
Don't rent here they will charge you for everything and when you leave they'll ruin your credit because of not paying for made up damages. They will raise your rent 100 dollars a year so you can leave and then charge you for ever thing.
Celeste was great and lots of help. I went in and she was able to inform me with everything I needed and had a great attitude.
Steven was very informative and listened to what I am looking for. Accessible to many things in area shopping mall, fast food, nice dining restaurants, pet store.
You have to be careful, they charge a lot of bogus fees on move out.
I cannot express how sick this place makes me. As a single mother I had to deal with so much renting at this location. They paint a wonderful picture for you and then stick you in a mess of a place. Somewhere your supposed to call home, me and my toddler daughter lived through flooding, no AC for weeks, roaches and spiders, Rude staff. They can care less about your needs but do not be late on any thing you owe them they will come for you ! Beware of renting here, might as well rent or apply for a home! Very expensive costs.
They will charge you at move out for damages listed on the move-in form. I am now in a fight for my credit and my sanity after living at this complex. Coming from frisco, this poorly managed apartment complex takes advantage of the residents in making fraudulent charges. I have proof from the current resident that the damages are still in the apartment & have not been fix or replaced. When asked for an invoice for the repairs they refused. Please be aware.
During my year stay at the Retreat, I have seen so many different people in there,it's insane! The manager and the assistant manager are ridiculously rude and they seem to enjoy talking bad to their residents to their face and behind their backs! Super unprofessional! The apartment are nice for the most part. Grounds are dirty, poop everywhere! You call front office and it's like a bother. Just spent your rent money somewhere people! They may treat you nice at first but once you are in! You become a pest! The assistant manager is probably the worse one in there! Very condescending, rude and she think she is mean! (Ha!) take it from a dissatisfied tenant! Run as fast and far as you can! Word of advice: if you want to thrive, get rid of those rude people.
We checked out almost every place on west El Paso. Being a military mover for some time now, we've found that apartment living is our only option. I spent a lot of time asking questions before I applied and the manager spent over 20 minutes with me. I think the rent is fair and everyone in the office has been extremely helpful. I was offered some drinks and snacks when we walked in, I had a call from the manager herself asking if we were satisfied with our move and have not had any issues at all and been here 4 months. They have a lot of functions for us and I always see great interactions with the office staff and us tenants, thankfully our experience has been pleasant.
I have lived in this complex since August of 2017. My roommate had a previous roommate, in the same apartment, who also had these issues. In my short time living here, my toilet has been inoperable about 5 or 6 times and for multiple days each time. Maintenance comes to fix the issue eventually, however, this last time that it has clogged, a work order was put in and 5 days later, it's still not fixed. I called the office to figure out why but come to find out, it was never entered into their system. The office personnel looked at the history of work orders for this recurring problem only to find out that there is no record about the plumbing and this could be why they haven't come up with a better solution to this issue.
I moved back into this apt after management changed while I was on a military deployment. Unlike my first experience with the old ownership, Retreat charged me over $300 for carpet cleaning(carpets were cleaned and receipt was sent) as well as wall painting (no photo evidence). I was referred to corporate by the manager and they've ignored my calls and messages for weeks. I'm now getting contacted by a collections agency. This company lacks integrity. Please be warned.
Property Manager at Retreat at Mesa Hills, Responded To This Review
Hello, The person in charge of your account did in fact have pictures of the walls needing paint. Those were emailed to you, if you have not received the email please let us know and we can resend. The carpet charge was for $55 not $300 which is a very reasonable amount for a large one bedroom apartment. We do appreciate you sending in the receipt for carpet cleaning however, it was submitted late and after your charges were billed. Please feel free to call the office to speak to management, we would be glad to help you!
Though work is being done in public spaces, much is completed already. I live in the gated area, two bedroom apartment, ground floor with patio. I like it - there is plenty of room to include for storage, the decor elements are quite well selected and most of all, after owning a home (then selling) I have experienced excellent customer service in both the front office and with maintenance. All my transactions are done online to include maintenance; trash is removed from outdoor bins everyday or nearly everyday; the pool was just updated and is beautiful and well maintained. What I liked most about these apartments after looking at new ones on N. Mesa (won't mention the name) is there is much more space in the apartment and the trees and other greenery are in full growth and well maintained.
Property Manager at Retreat at Mesa Hills, Responded To This Review
Hello! Thank you so much for your positive review. We are glad that you're happy to call Retreat at Mesa Hills your home. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you in the future.
Worst experience ever. My apartment is full of spiders, walls, my bed, my sheets. Air conditioner took more than two months to have it fixed and swimming pool its close since last month. Customer service so far the worst experience I ever had
Unfriendly/uncooperative staff combined with incredibly dirty facilities (if they are even open) I wouldn't stay there again if someone paid me to. Do not let the looks deceive you. Most apartments are run down and not renovated and the staff are not helpful in anyway once you move in. Even though under new management since all the previous poor reviews.
I am a resident from this awful apartments since february and it has been my worst experience. First of all its been 3 weeks since they've closed both of the pools with no reason at all. The club house is ALWAYS closed with the excuse that "they don't have anyone able to open it". Our water bill went up with the excuse that "the water consume was being a lot" but that's because there is several water leakages all around the complex and they do not take care of it. The lights of the buildings, the parking lots, etc have been off since I moved here and a lot of residents and I have been telling the manager about it because it can cause an accident and they still haven't fixed them. And plus all of that; the staff is very rude. It simply seems like the manager does not care about the residents basic needs and requests, the other ladies of the office treat residents as enemies. They have a really bad attitude when it comes to doing their own job. Please do not lease on this terrible apartments.
Property Manager at Retreat at Mesa Hills, Responded To This Review
Hi Luisa, As you know, the lighting on the building structure has been replaced and we have addressed many of your other stated concerns. Our pool has been closed the past few weeks for maintenance. The good news is we will be debuting brand new pool furniture and grills. We hope you will enjoy these amenities this summer. Thanks
I can only say so much about living here but the experiences I've had here in the little time I've been here has forced me to right a review. My apartment is nice, there are a few kinks around the apartment but nothing that major. Our experiences with management, not so great. Our leasing agent is amazing and extremely accommodating. We love her! So don't get me wrong about that. I believe the regional manager, Mariam, was doing pool checks and they are just barely starting to enforce the rules. First, we were told 2 per resident and she claimed 2 per apartment. Now I have family coming in, my parents and brother, from out of town and they can't even be accomadated when they come visit me once or twice in a year. That is completely unfair. 2 per resident - 4 per apartment. Definitely more accomadating? I understand that they don't want the pool to be overcrowded but whose going to want to go if you can't even fit your family. And then, cable ready apartment, NOT! You have to get the HD box and cable to get that service. They lie and omit. And then they gave us a certain amount to pay when we moved in and added another charge on the account because THEY got the amount wrong in the first place. How is that fair? All these five star ratings are definitely what you would call staged because they are all too "perfect". Just be careful before you sign the lease and check out the apartment you'll be moving into. Good luck. Changing the name will not change the real issues. Formerly known as Colinas del Sol.
I am writing this review as I am sitting in my apt which is well over 90 degrees in the middle of June. I have put in multiple online service requests to have it fixed only to have them ignored. I have called multiple times to complain only to have my requests ignored. Now I am doing the only thing I can do which is try to inform others about how terrible the service of this apartment complex has become. The apartment complex is telling me that "for the safety of their technicians" they are not allowed to respond to my service request because its after 8 pm. This is despite the fact that I called at 6 pm to complain that my apt was over 95 degrees. I also put in a service request last night because the temperature was over 85 degrees. The sad truth is the management of this facility have no regard for the safety and well being of the residents in this community. I put in a service request days ago for the AC to be fixed. They sent a maintenance man who was nice and professional. He refilled the AC unit with coolant which made it work for about 1 day. Then it promptly went back to 80 degrees. Since then the service requests have been ignored. I have not been able to sleep for 3 nights not including tonight. The management does not want to pay the overtime to get the problems fixed and so it falls on you as the resident to suffer and continue to try to make your voice heard. Do yourself a favor and find a better place to live.
We viewed an apartment the first weekend of April and called back within a couple of weeks to lease. The leasing agent was very friendly and helpful, but as we tried to get the lease taken care of we had trouble getting a hold of anyone. The biggest disappointment was when we got the keys to move in. Our unit was a handicap unit and did not have the garden tub in the master bath like what we had understood we were leasing. They offered a unit upstairs but we had paid movers for a lower level. They offered a unit that would be available later in the day, but we had moved form 10 hours away and the movers had to unload by noon and head back. We have not heard back from management as to how they would be willing to fix this misunderstanding. If you are picky about the condition of floors, baseboards and walls, pick another apartment. Overall we have been satisfied with the space and layout of our unit and the pool, the location is also very convenient. Just be aware you may not be able to get a quick response if you are not local, and CONFIRM your unit if you really want a garden tub!
These apartments are the perfect combination of everything someone would want in an apartment; modern architecture with classy design both inside and out, a great location for easy city access without the hassle of the city traffic right outside your window, and most importantly a price that is both reasonable and affordable. Colinas Del Sol is the perfect place to reside if you are looking for something modern, clean, peaceful yet entertaining and most importantly affordable. Having just moved here from North Carolina I would definitely say it's a drastic change but living here at Colinas Del Sol has made the transition both easy and enjoyable.
I have been living here for almost eighteen months, and my family and I have had an excellent stay because of the service and attention we have received from the staff and maintenance, we have been incredible attended. However a lot of green areas surrounding us had changed because of the time, and they had not been reforested as they should to continue with the great spaces we found we found when we came here. As a suggestion, maybe the apartments need a special person out of the staff, but in the staff that supervises very often the outside and common areas for a better maintenance.
I've living here for one year and four months, it's the perfect location in the city of el Paso for living, we don't have to move or drive a lot to find whatever we want, we have everything surrounding us, comercial centers, al kind of restaurants, gas stations, banks. Inside the building visitors can find excellent well attended green areas, those who use to exercise they body there are volleyball, tenis and swimming pool excellent areas, with the respectful rest areas.
Colinas del Sol has excellent installations, great recreative areas, great parking areas and is perfectly located in the heart of the West side of El Paso. The one thing that needs a lot of improvement is the management office, I'm not sure of the reasons but service is well below average. They normally take a long time to take care of issues both small and big, if they even take care of them. At times you have to call them more than once to remind them of the issue and at times the rest of the team isn't aware of the matter and you have to start the process again. Apart from that if there isn't anything wrong with your apartment then you will live very comfortably.
took a brief tour, staff was very helpful and friendly, and the apartments are very beautiful. cannot wait to move in.
The pros: Great location, the complex looks nice and its within walking distance to tons of stores of all kinds and a shopping mall. There are 2 to 3 resort style pools available, all depending on which apartment you get. The cons: I was promised a fully renovated apartment when I moved in. However, when I moved in I was without any ceiling fans or drawers for the cabinets for about 2-3 months. The carpet was never replaced and is old and stained. The dishwasher and ice machine do not work despite having them worked on several times. I finally gave up on reporting it A maintenance worker that was installing my ceiling fans(when they finally arrived) stole an electronic gaming device from my apartment. I had to leave for a little over an hour and when I returned he and my game device that had been sitting right on the kitchen counter were gone. When I reported to management they insisted they would take care of it. After 2-3 weeks of being assured that everything was being taken care of they just said sorry they can't help me and to call the police on my own. The maintenance worker is still employed here. They do not regulate who uses the pools here. I live right across from the main pool and see entire families and groups of 10-15 people just show up with their coolers and grills and use the pool. If the pool gate happens to be locked they will just jump the fence or wait by the gate for a resident to come in or out. All this is done in broad daylight right in front of the leasing office and staff. Sometimes the pool area gets so crowded with non residents coming in that I can barely find parking to get to my own apartment. My car was also broken into one night, by whom I'm assuming was a non resident using the pool. Again when I reported to the main office nothing was done. The non residents do not respect the pool or pool area. It is usually dirty and water cloudy. They have a nice "free" game room that they show you on the tour, however it is never open, unless you pay to reserve it. There are other complexes of similar price range in the area that are newer and appear to be well maintained. If your looking for a nice place on this side of town, I would recommend looking elsewhere
Haven't had to many issues with the place. Just a little bummed that on their website they are offering our same apartment for 100 dollars less. Our lease is up in a month so we offered to resign if we got the same price all the new residents were getting. They denied it and said our rent would either stay the same as it is now or it may go up. Which made no sense to us since we have always paid on time. My other complaint is that the side we live on is the gated side. Which shouldn't even really be called gated considering in the year we have lived here the gate has been actually working only 2 months. The rest of the time it is down and being "repaired. Lol overall we will def be moving somewhere else at the end of our lease.
Even though our apartment has been recently remodeled, the carpet looks outdated and we have had plently of plumbing issues. On the bright side the complex is really beautiful and the staff is very friendly and all of our complaints have been fixed in a timely matter. The pools and exercise facilities are amazing?
