Property Ratings at Retreat at Palm Pointe
I have been a renter at Palm Pointe for a little over a year. This community is on the smaller side so it is quieter than some of the places I've lived before. The apartment is not the biggest one bedroom but the layout works well for me, especially the huge walk-in closet. They keep the grounds in very good condition and just built a fence around the entire property. So far I have only had 1 maintenance issue and it was taken care of the same day. Overall, a good experience.
This apartment complex caters to alot of temp residents with several furnished apartments. I think the amount paid for rent is decent for the size of the apartment. Although there are some cons. The location is a little tragic, as you can hear every plane from the charleston airport fly over and every train horn passing by. The air conditioning unit sounds just as loud, shaking the whole apartment every time it kicks on. The appliances are old and could use an upgrade but they work. I like that they have ceiling fans installed and a walk in closet, both very nice features. The laundry is done with machines outside each building, which is not the greatest but at least an option. I rarely hear my neighbors below and beside me, which is a plus in apartment life. All together it is a decent place for temperary residents, but I would not want to make this my home for longer than that.
On the surface this complex looks inviting, however the staff is clueless to issues that are troubling. One of the reasons I moved in was that they had conveniently located washer and dryers in each area. That being said, the washers and dryers are old and do not work properly. The dryer requires two cycles costing you twice the money because they do not update it. Also my heating and air unit has been sporadic at best. It ran continuously for several weeks and I was set with a large electric bill due to them not servicing it like I had asked. They did not offer any assistance in covering part of the bill that was caused by their neglect. It still does not work properly and I haven't seen a repair man come out in months. The surrounding neighborhood is loud and unsafe.
I moved into my new apartment a few months ago, trying to get away from the noisy neighborhood's. when I first discovered this complex I felt in love with them because of its peacefulness and tranquility. Been in this location is the perfect place I don't need to drive all over town to full my everyday needs, I am seconds away from the interstate to get to work each morning and I my add that's a plus. There is no need of looking out the window to see if there any kids playing stick ball because in this complex there are no children's living here, each apartment building consist of one bedrooms which also cut down the noises.
