The Northgate neighborhood occupies the northern portion of Salem, OR. One of the city’s larger districts and a hub for regional commerce and transportation, Northgate has one of Salem’s 19 neighborhood associations, even though industrial land, the railroad and Interstate 5 corridors occupy more of the area than residential blocks do. The neighborhood extends north to encompass the Chemawa Indian School and its associated agricultural fields. The southern reach of the area hosts the Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, a large multi-use facility built with a donation from the late Mrs. Ray Kroc, wife of McDonalds founder Roy Kroc. The Oregon State Fairgrounds sit just beyond Northgate's southern border.

Property Ratings at Ridgecreek Manor
First off all, let's address the fact that this property management company owns several properties, two of which look similar. The pictures advertised for "Ridge Creek" are actually of two different apartment complexes located miles apart from each other. This is an especially bitter point for me to make because several of the "amenities" that are advertised at Ridge Creek are either non-existent or are in such a poor state compared to what photos show, that it is blatant false advertising. The "park bench" that actually rests inside Ridge Creek Manor is falling apart and does not have any concrete beneath it as shown in the picture. Also, "air conditioning", where? I had to spend $300 on an air conditioning unit big enough just to cool the living room in the afternoons during summer because there is no central air, what-so-ever. There is heating which works for the most part. Second, since I lived there for close to a year, I saw 3 different apartment managers come through. Each time a new one starts, residents try their hand at addressing long standing issues and by the time any momentum begins, they're out and a new one is in. At present, they have a good team on-site who is working to addressing many of the issues that have been on going for some time. Hopefully that doesn't change anytime soon but it doesn't help when local kids are spray painting graffiti everywhere and the new manager's hitch-trailer was stolen in broad daylight from the complex. Third, let's talk about infestations... I'd never seen a cockroach in any home I'd lived in for my entire life until after I moved into my first unit here. If you know anything about cockroach infestations, practically all of your furniture and electrical equipment needed to be burned before moving anywhere else so you don't drag the infestation with you. Oh, rats are a thing in the walls sometimes too. Now, I'd say this place is worth it if you're trying to penny pinch and live within your means but they also just started raising the rent prices to that of a brand new apartment complex loft. Throw in the infestation that has the potential to ruin all of your electronics and furniture and you too can successfully set yourself back years in personal progress because they certainly won't be paying for it. If you do decide to take the plunge and commit to this relationship despite all the red flags, just be sure to cover your end well.
We have lived here for about 6 months. The insides are nice. They have nice counters and cabinets. Negatives are that the dining area has cut outs In the floor, the bathroom gets horrible circulation and our towels never get dry, the floors are coming up, horrible storage, and we also found mold under the sink. There is always homeless people digging threw the garbage and I get scared to go out to my car. Overall it's a good price for it but definitely want to move out when our lease is up.
This place is absolutely a horrible place to live. The management is constantly changing and they're a ton of bullies. EMC (the management company) has given many tenants illegal EVICTION notices! They've taken a lot of tenants to court and lost half the battles. What ever you do, don't live here. It's a horrible place to live. There was also a shooting in the complex about 4 months ago, do they had to install video cameras on the property. ...just don't move here, you'll regret it.
Been here a couple months and it took them 1 month to fix the sink that broke after the first month. Parking is horrible. The homeless go through your trash there are yelling arguments daily outside and kids run around with no supervision. Over all not a good place to live. Try to find somewhere else if you can.
this place is horrible!!! I've been here for 2.5 yrs. and there's been 5 managers. the kids have a fight club and nobody does anything to stop it. homeless camp right behind complex and they go through your trash. 5 washers and only 2 work... ever. the list goes on and on. I can't wait to move
