Property Ratings at Ridgefield Gardens
I rent 1 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment and I have to sleep in the living room. At Ridgefield Gardens there is a set policy that you CANNOT view the apartment you want to move into beforehand. You are given a video of a similar looking apartment to and you have to sign contract where you agree that you have viewed the apartment and it is acceptable as is. As mentioned before I wasn't allowed to view the apartment. After I signed the contract I had to pay nonrefundable 1st month rent + half months rent + deposit to hold apartment. This means if I changed my mind about renting, they keep the money, hence nonrefundable. The day I moved in there was a loud noise and humming coming from underneath the designated bedroom. It was bad and still is. The manager nor sales agent told me that this horrible noise would be something I would to deal with for the entire lease time. The noise comes from the boiler underneath. It also causes the floor to vibrate. It causes me headaches and nausea so I have to sleep in the living room. I did ask to be transferred to a new unit. I was denied this. I did ask the manager why would they withhold this information...etc. So guys I am stuck in the contract. The apartment that I live in is also a nonrenovated apartment therefore the pretty pictures you see of the apartments on the website are not the apartments I have lived in. I lived in another unit before moving into this one. Those pictures are for the renovated apartments only. Parking is not monitored and limited, so sometimes cars will block others cars from leaving. Laundry room has machines that go out of service multiple times a week. It might be best to get a unit with a washer and dryer to avoid delays in doing laundry. Landlord wants to add additional fee to our rents for "capital improvements" on top of the new rise in rent. We are currently fighting this with a tenant advocate.
This place is nice and quiet. Apartment included one parking spot which is nice if you get there early enough to get one. Street parking can be a hassle late at night. BIGGEST complaint i have is their landscaping is non existent. Place has dirt patches everywhere. No nice lawns anywhere except where it grows naturally. Its not pleasant to look at especially at the prices that youre paying

Thank you so much for your 5-Star review of our community! As you know, this past summer was an unusually dry one so our grounds did not get as much water as needed to grow lush green grass and beautiful flowers and shrubs as we would have liked. We will be making improvements to improve this for next summer. Thank you for choosing to make Ridgefield Gardens your home! JCMLiving Resident Services Team

We are sorry to see that your experience in our community has not met your expectations. We do not restrict the areas children are permitted to play, however, we do expect parents to keep an eye on them and be sure they are not disturbing other Residents or risking injury to themselves or damage to the community. Not all Residents have pets, and while the breeds you mention are not permitted, if they are Emotional Support Animals, we are required by Federal Fair Housing Laws to allow them to live in our community. (This is true for all rental communities.) Unfortunately, we could not reach out to you because your review is anonymous. However, if you have specific concerns about children or animals, please contact the on-site management office at your earliest convenience. Thank you for making your home with us! I must say this area is quiet and beautiful. Lots of things to do and malls are very close. Easy travel to NYC. The apartment is spacious depending on what kind of furniture you are bringing in; however, Ridgefield Garden management will work with you. Thank you, Ridgefield Garden, for letting us experience what New Jersey is all about.
