Property Ratings at Ridgewood Apartments
My boyfriend and I have loved living here over the past 8 months! The units have been nicely renovated and the maintenance crew is really great and attentive. Although the price is, at least for us, on the upper end of our budget, it's still way cheaper then anything you'd find in Ann Arbor that's this nicely renovated. (Not to mention having a washer and dryer in unit!) The proximity to many grocery stores and shopping centers (Target, Kroger, Mejier, etc.) is also a huge plus. The only complaint I have is that there's no recycling on site which is a big bummer. As mentioned in other comments there were HUGE potholes when we moved in last summer, but those have since been fixed which has been a big improvement.
Property Manager at Ridgewood Apartments, Responded To This Review
Thanks for the five-star rating, Michaela. From leasing to maintenance and all in between, Ridgewood Apartments takes customer service seriously. We’re happy that your first experience here has been a positive one and promise many more ahead! Thank you for your residency!
The potholes in both the entry/exits are horrible there’s basically no road left and the constant construction leaves trash and nails everywhere. I just had to get a tire repair after one of their screws gave me a flat. Not to mention i’ve been living here for over a year now and every 3 months there’s a new rodent issue. The construction crew left the main door open all the time and a bird got into the building on multiple occasions and into our apartment once. We always here rodents/birds in the vent and management tells us not to worry about it but I constantly hear chittering in my vents. Besides those issues it’s fairly quiet and the lighting and in unit washer and dryer is nice but it doesn’t equal out all the cons either for such a high price in rent
They’re currently renovating the entire community including interior units. So if you’re placed into a unit near an un-renovated empty one, know that you’re going to have to listen to hammering and saws for 8 hours a day. Just don’t buy into the hype of new units because if you work from home, the level of noise all day is insufferable. Any time a neighbor of yours moves out, the workers move in and start the month long process of renovating the unit. So just make sure that either your neighbors are planning on staying for a while, or all the units around yours are already completed. All the work going on in the community has been a huge inconvenience for its current residents since October 2020 and I can’t get out of here fast enough.
The apartment is great until you need anything fixed. None of the residents I have talked to like the staff. They ignore maintenance requests and when they do come it is a sloppy temporary fix. DO NOT live here.
Looooved living at Ridgewood! I was really sad when we decided to move out of state because these apartments are great. We lived in one of the non-updated apartments, and it was still pretty nice. A lot of space too, our two bedroom was HUGE. Anyways, the maintenance team is just the best. They’re all super kind and respectful, and they always come to fix issues ASAP. The staff at the office are really nice as well, and the complex and apartments are very well kept. You can’t beat the location. Everything is literally right there: Kroger, Target, Home Depo, Starbucks, PetSmart; it’s amazing and at a great price!
I lived at Ridgewood for about a year and a half starting in 2015, and I really did enjoy my time there. I had a 2 bedroom 1 bath unit on the second floor. Pros: washer/dryer in unit, pet friendly, nice pool, ample parking, friendly office staff (especially Lindsay!), timely maintenance calls, no issues with bugs, big master bedroom, nice closets, close to both Ann Arbor and Ypsi. Cons: kind of drafty windows, small kitchen, and I had a few issues with a couple different appliances but they were handled promptly by maintenance staff. Overall Ridgewood is great value for what you pay. I would have continued living there if life hadn’t taken me in another direction!
In my lower level apartment there's no phone reception. And they have to many bugs, they spray but it doesn't seem to do much.
As a college student it's hard to find an appointment that's affordable and gives you great amenities. Having your own washer and dryer inside your apartment where you don't pay water is a major benefit. My building is quiet and always tons of parking by the door. Its nice and lit after dark . I don't run my air conditioner lften so my bill is pretty decent in the summer. My main complaint is in the winter the heat does not reach the bedrooms so I had to buy a space heater for my bedroom.
I have had a horrible experience living at Ridgewood apartments. The customer service of the management staff is horrible, they are unhelpful and rude. I have lived here for two months and have had my air conditioning break and a large leak appear in my ceiling. Both of which were not fixed. I have been charged many hidden fees making the rent that I thought was a good price much higher than the apartment complex boasts. I am even now trying to get out of my lease early. Do not live here!
