Property Ratings at Ridgewood Apartments
They've been hiking up prices and doing poor maintenance, often taking months to do the simplest things. Renovations took several times longer than quoted and were unsafe and intrusive. It's impossible to contact the actual office or any management. The air conditioner only works when it's in the 70s outside so when it's actually hot you're on your own.
Property Manager at Ridgewood Apartments, Responded To This Review
Thank you for your feedback, Robin. We do check-in with our rent prices and the local market on a daily basis. It is important to us that your expectations in your home are met. I will send this over to the property manager to follow up with you ASAP concerning your air conditioning unit.
My apartment unit was just completed with all the new updates; added washer/dryer to unit, new light fixtures, updated bathroom and my favorite part the updated kitchen with all new appliances! If you have never experienced having renovations completed while you are still living in the unit, it can be messy, time consuming and frustrating. There were several issues that I had during the renovation process with the performance of the contracted company and how long it took to actually complete the renovations. However, the office staff really impressed me with how attentive and proactive they were during the entire process. They were accommodating and great at resolving/addressing any issues/concerns that I brought to their attention during this process and I am extremely pleased with the final outcome of my apartment. The community grill and fire pit near the office was a great add, although I am disappointed that they did not replace the playground. There are a lot of kids that live in this community and it was nice for them to have a small playground/playset in a grassy area for them to safely play and keep them off the sidewalks away from the constant and crazy traffic throughout the complex. Overall, I recommend living here! Great school district and you can tell the office staff really tries their hardest to accommodate the residents within reason to provide a great living experience. My cons: -Rent is a little pricy for what you get, in my opinion. -Maintenance requests can take longer than they should but I know this is just because they are short staffed like the rest of the world. They are usually pretty good about emergency or high priority requests that need to be fixed immediately. -Gym hours are limited as it was 24 hr access when I first moved in. -Hoping next year's pool hours will return to pre-covid hours. It was really disappointing that I couldn't use one of the best amenities we have much this past summer because it was only open during office hours which is when most people work their own jobs. -They could do a better job about cleaning the grounds; unfortunately there is a lot of dog poop right outside my patio making is hard for kids to play in the grass.
Thought it would be a great place but after it was bought by the sterling company this turned out not to be true. They raised the rent considerably, the price to do laundry increased by 50% in the little over a year we were living there. Do not get back to you when putting in repair requests. We had to fix things ourselves multiple times because they took so long getting back to us or did not get back to us at all. There was a broken street light right outside of our bedroom window that flashed all night long and did not get fixed for about 3 weeks. The grounds were not well kept. Dog poop everywhere and no thought to make a solution to this problem. After trying to get out of our lease we were continually lied to and given wrong information about a the amounts we owed. At first it was 2 months rent to get out of the least but by the time we finished discussing this with them it was 4 months rent to get out of the lease. Heather was the only knowledgeable and friendly staff. The rest of the staff was rude and lied or gave incorrect information on the termination of lease process.

Thank you Noelle for taking the time to give your feedback. Your feedback is very important to us and helps us tailor our services to meet your needs. Please give us a call at (616) 303-1689 so we find a way to improve your overall experience.
I have dealt with an abundance of issues, stolen items, maintenance harming my personal belongings and taking months to fix a single problem, an extreme lack of help and consideration from the office. They don’t stick to their promises on any level, get EVERYTHING discussed in writing. They would rather stick a lawyer on you than actually help you based on our conversation today. Too expensive, trashed and undesirable service. Make sure you watch where you are going when in the gym, there’s no wet floor signs posted when my daughter and I were walking through she fell and hit her head hard. Cost me a doctors visit and again, no help from Ridgewood. We tried to get out of our lease by having someone take ours over, which they we’re fine with, of course only now they decided to add a fee for switching over the lease. Not surprised, so unless we pay thousands to break the lease, we are stuck.
Looking for the perfect apartment with all the perfect amenities? Then look no further than Ridgewood Community. Reasonable rent. The staff is wonderfully intrusive. And the facilities are being upgraded so often that you won't be allowed to step foot in them during the life of your 12-month lease
