Property Ratings at River Park Apartments
The pros: neighbors are friendly, relatively safe, pet friendly, quiet. The cons: not enough parking, large roaches, Samson Management is rude and unhelpful 90% of the time (useful only when collection of monies is involved) If it weren't for the massive cockroach infestation and rats all over the property, as well as an unhelpful Super who tries to convince you that the cockroaches you complain about are not actually cockroches and that he's never heard of any other complaints of roaches (there's a large list of apartments for pest control to spray posted right outside the Super's door!), I would consider the place decent. But all peace of mind went out the door with the first sighting of these three inch cockroaches. I no longer even use the kitchen because Every. Single. Time. I cook, a roach appears. If you're ok with sharing the space with these critters and don't mind paying extra to reserve a parking spot, then this place is for you.
You definitely cannot judge a book by its cover. The grounds are beautiful and the neighbors are quiet and friendly, apartments are large, but Samson are terrible property managers. There are cockroaches running around so large I think they have jobs and 401K plans. No one tells you how terrible parking is until you move here and have to hunt to find parking night after night. You try to call the management office but no one ever answers the phone and rarely responds to emails. The super is pretty responsive but he is limited in what he can do, some things require management approval. We had to pay for a parking space due to the parking situation and people are parking in our parking spot. Management does nothing and responds to nothing.
I lived there for 3 years and I thought it was nice at first; until the pipes in building 14 kept banging throughout the winter months and the landlord never did anything about it. I made a complaint with the housing development company in new york city, they were coming to inspect the place- but before they could do that- i moved. I had to get out of there; could not spend another winter in that place. The parking is awful, I worked late hours some days and could never find a place to park. I always had to park at the school and get up extra early to move my car, even on days I did not have to work. Ugh... The snow days were awful too, they did not put salt or sand to melt the snow - the parking lot was awful, there were times - i did not move my car- because after cleaning out the space- someone else would park in it. They should really have spaces for each unit - the laundry is nasty- i never used it- always went to the public laundry mat on virginia rd. Big inconvenience. Glad I finally moved. I do not recommend this place to live.
It is sad to see a nice place been administrate so badly, the super whom live in the complex is never available when you need, he does inform anyone about vacation or update on services being done in the complex. ( like if the water need t be shut for a day you will only find out when you need to use it) The people who live here has been here for years and they don't want to move because the location is amazing, but the problem is that the rent is not one price to all many people is paying way less than others. In the winter they don't clean the drive ways and many times the tenant has to go and clean if they want to get out of the parking lot or even the paid garage. This place would be the best place if the rules were applied and enforced, not the case. You weren't suppose to have dogs around here but 50% of people who lives here has it. Not that I care but they aren't paying for the animals to be here, another reason I would love to find a place where rules are follow and the place is take it care of it.
Hello, I've lived with my parents for 23 years at the apartment building across the court yard, 24C, from we're I live now for 4 years. I grew up here my whole life, not many people can say that about an apartment. I loved it so much me and my fiance at the time moved into one of the apartments they had for rent. I have never lived anywhere else but here and I love it. It is a great place to raise your children and live a comfortable family, or quit life. The best of both worlds exist in these apartments. Landscapers come every week to manage the properties, garbage is picked up in the AM hours. They offer parking spaces, garages as well as snow plowing during winter months, and repairs for the apartments are granted as needed.
Samson Management apartments is a poorly managed apartment complex. In fact, there's no management here. If something is ever broken and needs to be fixed there's no one to call. The ceiling in my bathroom collapsed twice. Thankfully no one was in there when it happened. There has been bugs, cracked floors and gas leaks. Not only is the apartment the parking lot is terrible. Anyone and everyone can park there where you live here or not. I can never get a parking spaces. I get home at 6pm from work and there's zero parking spots. Do yourself a favor and do not rent here.
PERFECT location (right off the BX River Parkway- 5 min drive to downtown White Plains, 2 train locations close, walking path to Kensico Dam) Parts of the apartment were renovated before I moved in, so I can't comment on the condition of the older apartments on the complex. One thing I will say is parking is TERRIBLE. There are no assigned spots (unless you pay for them) and people park wherever they want (even in my paid spot!) Great apartment layout, but my kitchen is VERY small. No noisy neighbors, quiet neighborhood, very kid friendly. Laundry on site- but I have never used it.
