West Central neighbors come together for art festivals, block parties, local cleanup events, and garden tours of the older, historic homes in the area. Property Ratings at Riverbanks Retreat
If you have other options please explore them. The pictures you see are nothing like what you get, I wasn’t allowed to view my unit before signing my lease. First red flag. I’ve lived here for 2 years, conditions are poor yet rent keeps increasing. The amenities are a joke: 2 small pools that have been closed since I moved in, a tiny playground that I’ve found razor blades at, and extremely outdated filthy laundry rooms. The laundry room doors are left wide open 24 hours a day allowing for cats and other critters to take shelter. The machines always have bugs inside due to the doors being wide open. When I moved in there were exposed nails inside around my front door where the panel had been ripped off but not placed before we arrived. After I put in a work order, they repaired it while I was gone by placing a strip of DUCT TAPE over the opening and painting it white. I wish I was joking. They recent changed property management companies but still, deplorable conditions. Also, there’s been 2 separate murders out here in the past year. The location is amazing, that’s the only positive. Just don’t move here.
about the office staffs and the rent. The staffs are unprofessional, rude and lack common sense. They are very hard to deal with. I have tried to talk to them for maintenance and also submitted online maintenance requests. In most cases, the problems are not solved. I blame the office staffs rather than the maintenance guys. The situation has worsened since the corona outbreak. This poor service cannot justify increasing rent. Now I cannot move because of the 1-year lease I signed.
Environment is not safe at all for living. There are frequent criminal incidents, drug dealing, firearms shooting and what not. The management do not care about the safety of the tenants. And they do not take any action against any complaints. The environment is not clean either. Trash and garbages are all over and no one bothers to live among them. Probably the worst place to live in West Columbia.
I would recommend the apartments on every level except for utility bill. The apartment needs weatherproof windows. Better seals around doors. Insulation. And the blower in the AC/Heat unit was very loud. Utility bills were the only onerous aspect of the apartment. Otherwise I never had a problem with staff or neighbors.
Great price and the upgrades are worth it!! Management was very hepful!
I just moved into a new apartment that just had a bunch of things changed to it (completely different then my neighbors) and so far I love it. I'm in the back of the community so it's quiet and has a large grass open space so my dog can get his outdoor time in. Everyone seems nice here and it's close to where I work in downtown Columbia area. My friend just decided to move here too but is waiting for an upgraded apartment to become ready.
We stayed downstairs for one year and our 2 children has sinus issues, was ALWAYS sick, and even had to take treatments. Come to find out we had mold issues that they were aware of but did nothing about it. After many attempts of "FIXING" the issue, they finally moved us to another unit. However, now we have a issues. It is cool in our apartment 35% of the day. The school unit blows out heat the other 65% of the time of time. The maintenance claim they have fixed the issue and here we are a week in a half later and our thermostat (which they changed) is reading 90 degrees and we dropped it from 70 to 50. I am warning EVERYONE to not move in here with all these issues.

New management took over this June and they are finally making some changes to turn this complex around. I like the fact that there are 3 laundry rooms and two pools. Good location and you can't beat the rates in this area.

Thank you for your review. We're so happy that you enjoy our multiple laundry rooms and pools. We are currently renovating the property and we can't wait to you see all the new improvements throughout the community.
The current owner staffs are too rude to talk. They behave like they don't care tenants. If you show up with any problems of your apartment, they will somehow find your fault in it and will try to impose it on you. And increasing the rent in the middle of your lease isn't a normal thing which they have already done couple of time. I appreciate the efforts of the maintenance people here, running everything having such terrible management is a big deal.

We strive for superior customer service so please let us know if there is anything we can do moving forward to make your home experience a great one. Kindest Regards, Management
They were very rude when I called. And I had to explain to the girl what "pet-friendly" meant.

I absolutely love Park Place Apartments! The prices are great and the apartments have improved tremendously since the new management has come in! I love Amanda and Cindy in the office, they are always so helpful, as well as the maintenance crew! When things go wrong, they are right there to fix it! I highly recommend for anyone looking in this area!

Must be the wrong property, Kathy and Bhyanca work in the rental office.
My crib is the shiznite. It is so fly. It's the bomb diggity. Straight up. I love the staff here also. If there's ever anything that needs fixing which there hardly ever is they get to it with a quickness.

Thank you for your comment. We appreciate you as a resident.
Okay. So the rent is only 495$ a month. Not too too shabby. The neighborhood is a tad bit sketchy and i recommend carrying mase at night. The pool is fabulous but you know..its the little things like I DONT KNOW MAYBE A LIGHT FIXTURE IN THE LIVING ROOM would be nice. Other than a few little things Like a roach problem...i guess the apartments aren't the worse you could live in. Best of luck. You may need it.
