Property Ratings at Riverland Woods
Star 1: The pool is sweet. Star 2: The maintenance workers are nice guys who do a good job. I just want to update everyone that all of the negative reviews regarding the fees, security, upkeep, transparency, etc. are still very true. The community fees randomly change monthly with no explanation. They definitely are just running this place on a corporate level and the residents are paying for it (as a prior review said). It's important that you're informed about where you are moving before you sign the lease and they own you. Paying a little more money in rent is worth it to live somewhere else. After we moved out in May, they did the bare minimum to inform us about our last bill. We couldn't get into the resident portal after moving out, so we asked them how to pay it and never heard from them again. Then suddenly 3 months later....my cosigner's credit score takes a big hit from a collections fee from Riverland. They went straight to collections and screwed up his credit report over 80 something dollars. Oh and my cosigner was never called or informed about the fee before it showed up on his report. Just when I thought I was past the days of dealing with their little fees, SURPRISE! I am so glad that I never have to see "RIVERLAND WOODS" in my bank statement ever again. I wish everyone the best of luck with finding a considerate and transparent apartment complex unlike this one :)

I don't normally write reviews but if I can save someone from making a mistake then this is worth it... This property raised my rent by over 22% after just one year, they use RealPage. They will not negotiate even though many units sit empty for months after tenants leave. Shortly after increasing our rent management purchased a custom $30,000 Moke golf cart that they never use. There are weekly car break-ins, management will not install cameras or take ownership of the problem. I've seen several reports of apartment break-ins as well. I've had to install my own cameras and provide video evidence to the police. We have a huge problem with underaged non-residents taking over our pool. They throw parties and cause fights with residents - someone brandished a gun last year. Most of the amenities such as grills and firepits are broken. At one point Amazon/UPS/FedEx etc were banned from the property. Management got rid of the lockers and we were required to schedule deliveries through a gig service called Fetch. After tons of stolen packages they now allow carriers to deliver packages but we are still required to pay the Fetch fees. There is constantly trash in breezeways, the floors and walls are covered in garbage juice. You have to pay $30/month for valet trash to pickup your trash between 6pm-10pm, leaving you with no trash can to use in the evening while making dinner or entertaining guests. There is a homeless camp in the woods behind Walmart, plenty of local news stories on that. It's not safe to walk around the pond at night. We have rules against owning certain breeds of aggressive dogs, but I am seeing a lot of pitbulls lately. I no longer feel safe walking my dog or going to the dog park. This property will not allow you to pay a security deposit up front, they instead charge you monthly and it is not reimbursable after you move out. If you read the positive reviews they are mostly from employees of the management company or they were given a gift card. Great location with so many problems - join the FB group for more details if you are still considering.

I lived here for 2 years. Forced to move due to them increasing my rent renewal by almost $600/month. Tons of fees each month on top of the high rent. The amenities are great, the apartment, not so much. Everything is severely outdated. There was frequently trash everywhere from animals getting into it. Sometimes it was left for weeks at a time. During the summer, lots of underage drinking at the pool after hours. I witnessed high schoolers sneak in at the pool a few times. Take your money elsewhere and just buy a house if you can afford the rent prices here.

Tried to speak with someone regarding a rental. Four phone calls, several texts, an online appointment and still no response. Have to believe this is a reflection on their customer service or their lack of.... Really terrible service!

This place is really expensive for what it is. Every time I turn around I’m shelling out more money to this place.

I lived here for two years (in two separate apartments). There are so many amenities, there's something for everyone! Beautiful nature and scenery, especially the pond. The office staff is SO nice and helpful (especially Rachel), and as a young girl I always felt safe in the community. I can't think of any cons! Only moved out because I was leaving Charleston, wish I could've stayed.
Their amenities are awesome.... whenever they are actually open. Things are constantly closed for “maintenance”. A lot of things are not handled in timely fashion. Apartments are outdated for price. Communities rules are not enforced at all. Dogs in my building are constantly off the leash. If you are looking for an apartment I would look else where.

I've lived at Riverland woods apartments for 3 years with my wife and son. The apartments themselves look nice, lots of room, decent neighbors and close to the beach. I gave them 1 star due to my perception that staff is unsympathetic and unwilling to work with you when you need them to the most. Long story short, things were slow at work last month and I asked them to postpone my rent payment 3 more days due to loss of income, which in my view is a reasonable request. We have a long history of consistently paying on time and not giving them any problems. They were unsympathetic to my situation and were unwilling to waive the late fee. Normally, the fee itself is not even an amount of money I would care much about, but this month we've been struggling. I feel most places wouldn't make a big deal over something like this and would be willing to make an accommodation. I did my part and went to the office, sat down and explained our situation to staff, but they did not care at all and were unwilling to help. They have no problem kicking you while you’re down. That left me a really bad impression, so much so that I felt motivated to write this review. Buyer beware, expect to get nickel and dimed at Riverland Woods.

I lived at riverland woods for a 8 months after I moved to SC and I loved it! Great amenities and spacious apartment. Location was so convenient to downtown and there were always great resident activities going on. When I decided to move into a town home so we could have a yard I needed a rental history from riverland. I had a couple of late payments while I was there and the town home was thinking of declining me. April from the office OFFERED to call the town home on my behalf and clarify my rental history. I was accepted by the townhouse after the phone call! It was so nice to be able to have staff willing to help and support me even after i moved out!! Awesome place and amazing staff!
Better than most places in the area. The pool is a selling point but it is not heated over the winter and it is often out of commission. The staff in the office and the outside workers are all nice and professional. I only wish I lived on the top floor.

I love this apartment! Key location, tons of activities and events going on, and most importantly close to the beach! Living here is great! The facilities are amazing, it's a great pool and matience is always there if anything breaks! Live here you won't regret it!
