Situated about 30 miles southwest of Hartford, Waterbury is one of the largest cities in the state, touting a rich past as an industrial center. Waterbury was once the center of the American brass manufacturing industry, earning the city the nickname “the Brass City.”
Today, Waterbury is home to several colleges, including Post University and branch campuses for the University of Connecticut, University of Bridgeport, and Western Connecticut State University. The combined student population and collegiate resources contribute to the local culture, from ongoing lectures and events to numerous nightlife and entertainment venues scattered throughout town.
Waterbury also contains a slew of diverse art and history museums packed with fascinating exhibits. The city boasts beautiful historic architecture on a grand scale, particularly landmark structures like St. Anne’s Church, Union Station, and the buildings surrounding Waterbury Green.

Property Ratings at Rivers Edge
I was excited when I applied to this building, until I was rejected because I have to make 1/2 times the rent when I clearly do with the additional income I receive monthly which also was stated in the application, i think theres a more greater reason as to why I wasn’t accepted that they didn’t want to disclose With me, which if I have to be honest is pretty pathetic. Only good thing was the staff are very polite

River's edge is a beautiful and quaint apartment complex and I absolutely love living here. I am a professional and student and appreciate living in a community that is not only beautiful but also peaceful as well. The staff are incredibly professional and friendly. What's more, the actual units are beautifully designed. My unit recently was updated with a really sleek thermal unit and I love that the apartments are equipped with dishwashers. They upkeep the apartments and I absolutely love the freshly painted hallways and new carpet installed in all of the units. I love the amenities- the gym, pool, grills, and benches really add a tremendous value to the living experience. And of course, the river is serene and truly is a beauty to live next to. I love standing on my balcony, sipping a hot cup of tea and listening to the sounds of the flowing water at the start of my day. Other residents are also friendly and respectful, and I never have had a single issue with my neighbors. If there is ever a maintenance issue, maintenance quickly resolves problems, and also they are extremely friendly too! This is a wonderful community to live in, and by far, a place I am so happy to call my home. 5 stars- you won't regret moving in and you surely will not want to move out!

I was very excited to move into my apartment here, the online photos where nice and the apartment I Was shown was cute. The apartment I got was dated and basically falling apart. I thought, ah I will make the best of it. After about a week I regretted it. The neighbors have zero respect for others. They play music ridiculous loud and good luck walking on the lawn because no one cleans up after there pets. Also, forget safety- Cars get broken into daily and laundry gets stolen. You can’t leave any packages outside for more then 10 minutes or it will be taken. The leasing office offers to keep packages but are only open 9-5 Monday -Friday so if you work 9-5 you are out of luck. The doors to get into the building are locked but are most of the time left open so anyone can walk in. The Hallways are just nasty and smell like smoke. Also, plan on paying additional fees and watch for added “service” fees when paying rent. Do yourself a favor and keep looking this “ gated community” is far from safe!

Dear Resident, Thank you for taking time to send us a review regarding your stay at Rivers Edge. We regret any inconvenience you have experienced, and we assure you that we are anxious to retain you as a satisfied resident. Please reach out to our office to discuss any issues with your current unit. Also Rivers Edge is not a smoke free community and tenants are allowed to smoke in their units. We do however, have rules and regulations signed by all residents regarding excessive noise. Please reach out to me to go over these extra fees you are referring to, any extra fees such as pet/utilities were explained in your lease and during your visit here.
The grounds here are way better than the surrounding area. There is usually a project going on to update something, from renovating the pool area to applying energy efficient overhaul of the units. Towing is regularly enforced so parking is nice. Snow is plowed very often when present. Large area on the outskirts for dog walking and there is a small path to a big Field behind the Walmart. Staff is always super helpful. There are no elevators, so if stairs are a issue make sure to get a first floor. I was allowed to move in to a first floor from third for my older dog with a simple lease update (no fees or anything) when that became a issue for me.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share this very sweet feedback! We're happy to hear that you had a great experience with us at River's Edge and hope to see you again take care!
Neighbors smoke everywhere in the community including common areas and balconies. Good luck if your neighbor smoke in his/her balcony like mine, your bedroom, living room will be full of stingy cigarette regardless your door is closed. Leasing manager will tell you your neighbors can smoke wherever they want. PLEASE DO YOURSELF AND FAMILY GOOD IF YOU ARE NON SMOKER BY staying off. It’s perfect for you if you don’t care about it or you smoke.
All package carriers including Amazon, FedEx, UPS, USPS, DHL and others return packages because the manager refuses them access to the so call gated community. She will rather keep them in the leasing office. YOU MUST CALL OFF FROM WORK if you need your package. Also, USPS told me community is not safe place to leave package in the main lobby. How I wish I knew this before signing my lease.
Property Manager at Rivers Edge, Responded To This Review
Dear Tenant, The Leasing Office accepts packages for all tenants if the resident is not home. All carriers are supposed to call the residents through the call box to be let in. The office isn't open all the time or weekends to let these carriers in. Unfortunately, packages if left outside or in an area easily accessible can be taken just like if it was left at a home exposed. The Office offers package acceptance to make sure all packages remain in a safe place until the resident retrieves them. No need to take time off that's why we sign for them, if a signature is required. We see many times the carriers leave packages in the wrong buildings or even outside. We appreciate your thoughts on this matter and I hope that this clarifies the way deliveries work at the community.
I just recently moved into rivers edge & it has been a pleasant experience all around , it is a quiet safe complex & the staff is very friendly . would definitely recommend
Beautiful property, quiet place, but the tenants do any and everything to get out other tenants they don't like. This includes opening of mailboxes illegally, calling and having cars towed, being cursed out and on three different instances I watched tenants harrass a disabled tenant with names curses and slurs. Management is friendly with these old tenants so please be careful who you trust here and which manager you talk to.
Property Manager at Rivers Edge, Responded To This Review
Thank you for the review and information about the experience you are talking about at the community. Apartment living is shared living and sometimes not all neighbors will meet eye to eye which can be manageable. We try to encourage everyone to enjoy their environment by putting clause in the lease for "Consideration to others". If this type of behavior is happening I would hope the resident would reach out to me so I can handle this right away. As the Property Manager I do not take sides and treat every single tenant the same, if you feel this isn't true I would be happy to discuss with you. I would like to touch base on some of our complaints you have listed; residents do not have keys or access into other neighbors mailboxes and tenants do have the right to report any vehicle on the property if it is violating the parking policies. Again I appreciate the feedback and wish this was in better terms and I am more than happy to discuss in person.
Nice complex and large roomy units but just a heads up they will start adding additional charges on top of the monthly rent like: - $20-25 a month for sewer & trash removal - $150 upfront or $15 a month for amenity fees. They don't tell you about these fees on here. All these fees should be included in the rent already. Very disappointed.
Rivers Edge is a clean, well maintained place from anyone to enjoy living. In addition to being a great environment, just minutes from the highway and many other amenities, the pool is a great escape in the hot weather! Management is always helpful and friendly
Rivers Edge, located in the east end, is the perfect apartment for anyone living or working in or near the Naugatuck Valley. It is conveniently located near restaurants and stores of every description, including Brass Mill Center and The Palace Theater, offering fine dining, shopping outlets, entertainment, and cultural events. The complex is distinguished with charming Tudor design and picturesque grounds bordered by an enchanting creek superlatively maintained by an excellent maintenance staff. The location is a hundred yards from the main road with a gate partition for controlled access, offering security and privacy. Apartments include one and two-bedrooms with modern conveniences, including air conditioner, dishwasher, and internet access, and each features an outdoor patio, perfect for grilling or just relaxing. The grounds also include a fenced-in swimming pool with lounge chairs and tables, a fitness center, and ample laundry facilities. Rent includes heat and water. Pets allowed. For quality, convenience and affordability, Rivers Edge is simply the best choice for apartment living in the Waterbury area.
The apartment is very clean, well maintained. Very safe area, gated entrances. Very quiet as well. Pool right out my front door, too!!
These apartments are not worth the rent that is required. The windows and balcony doors are usually damaged from the humidity. Expect pricey bills to keep your apartment cool in the summer. The internet runs poorly due to the massive amount of radio interference from all the other tenants (Comcast is the only choice). Not enough parking spots during the winter and repairs or complaints are not often addressed or fixed. Our building smells heavily of cigarette smoke though smoking is not allowed in any of the buildings. You are also expected to pay a trash and mysterious utility fee each month. Do not waste your money- the location is bad and the rent is ridiculous! Pet rent is required and there is no elevator which makes third story apartments very difficult to move into! The postal office responsible for this community and surrounding area often loses mail and the same carrier has not delivered mail on the weekends countless times (it's even been reported as stolen by a postal worker). Do not move here if you can help it!
Property Manager at Rivers Edge, Responded To This Review
Dear Past Tenant, I'm sorry your experience at River's Edge wasn't a pleasant one and If I was the Property Manager then I would have addressed your concerns. I can assure you that Comcast is not the only choice for cable, unlike other apartment communities we allow satillite dishes or any other provider of your choice. We however prefer Comcast as your cable provider but we do not force you to use them. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do about the elevator, we are an older building and like most older communities they dont have the luxury of the elevator. As far as packages, we except them in the office if you are not home so there is no need to worry about this anymore. I hope your future endevors work out and always feel free to reach out.
