We made the most of the space in this one bedroom apartment by including a closet that can house a full size washer/dryer, as well as ample closet space in the bedroom, lining one whole wall. The bathroom is separate from the master so your guests can avoid walking through your bedroom to visit the loo, potentially avoiding being judged for your unmade bed. A great one bedroom floor plan! If you follow the Mopac Expressway north from Austin until it intersects with Highway 183, you’ll find the North Shoal Creek neighborhood. The intersection of these major roadways form the neighborhood’s north boundary, providing easy commutes for residents. Those who prefer mass transit will find ample bus service, and those who want to ride their bike to work or walk can make use of the neighborhood’s plentiful sidewalks and bike lanes. Students will find the University of Texas at Austin just six miles south, and Downtown Austin is eight miles south.
North Shoal Creek is a popular option for renters. The neighborhood provides an urban atmosphere and a variety of restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. Those with children also prefer North Shoal Creek for its top-rated school system. There’s one park in the neighborhood, Pillow School Park, but several others are located nearby. Residents shop at Village Shopping Center, which is also home to the Alamo Draftouse Cinema Village.

Property Ratings at Rockwood Apartments
Rockwood apartments was my home for almost two years. The manager, Robin, took care of the residents. She guided us through the "big freeze" of February 2021. We kept power, water, and heat the whole time. Repairs were always fast, and the guys who did them were personable and polite. When I first came to view the apt., I nearly made a u-turn before I got there out of trepidation about a third floor apt. But I went anyway, and found out about the free two-level wheeled carts and the ELEVATOR, so in the 1 year and 8 months I lived there, it was no problem getting heavy stuff up and down. The pool always looked clean and the "tiki hut" was a nice place to read in good weather. The communal laundry room was also always clean. Eventually a rented washer dryer eliminated the need for the downstairs communal laundry room. It had credit/debit card payment, a nice alternative to coins, and the dryers worked well. Through no fault of rockwood, a multilevel apartment complex being built next door since 2021 created a lot of construction beeping and dust, but it's up to four levels now and might be finished in a few months. The location right off burnet rd near Waterloo burgers was outstanding. I walked to shops on Anderson lane (one mile away) even at night. I never had any issues with car break-ins or tampering. I would recommend rockwood apartments because of Robin's excellent management.
I’ve lived in these apartments for 9 YEARS now and they are absolutely wonderful! No, they are not the most glamorous apartments inside but the appliances, cabinetry, and flooring are pretty good quality while still being budget conscious. The mgmt has always been super attentive, super friendly, and they really make you feel at home. I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT HOW INCREDIBLE, GLEN, THE MAINTENANCE GUY IS! He’s worked at these apartments for 30 years now (I’m pretty sure I have that right) and he’s absolutely amazing! If you put a maintenance request in it is handled immediately and he goes above and beyond. And since he’s been here so long I don’t worry at all about him being in my apartment when I’m not there. It’s a relatively small complex so he’s the only maintenance person and good lord he is always busy keeping everything around the exterior of the apartments fixed and cleaned as well. It’s absolutely pristine all the time and the pool is always well maintained which I’ve noticed is not the case at a lot of other apartments. Another great thing about this complex is that it is SUPER SECURE. You need a key card to get into the parking lot and you need it to get out of the parking lot and visitors have to buzz the apartment (your cell phone) to walk in (be sure to warn your delivery drivers. They have been known to follow cars in and get trapped). The key cards may seem inconvenient especially when you have guests for the weekend but once some people followed someone in at night and tried to steal a motorcycle by putting it in the bed of their pickup truck and then they couldn’t get out of the parking lot so they ditched it behind the dumpsters and tried to come back for it during the day and they got caught. Also we’re right on the edge of a super nice, quiet, family friendly neighborhood so while it’s centrally located in the city you would never know it while you’re at home but just go a little bit out of the neighborhood and there are so many restaurants and businesses that are so conveniently located. Finally, it is so quiet and peaceful here. From time to time I’ll look into other apartments to see if there’s something more economical available and I have yet to find anything in Austin or the surrounding areas in 9 years that even kind of compares to the pricing, especially for this location, and that’s not even taking into account how wonderful the staff is here. They really are truly incredible!
Rockwood apartments is a great place to live. I feel really safe here because the gate for entering and exiting require a card, not a code that anyone can get. The management is always very fast to respond to work requests. The complex is small, 88 units, so I know my neighbors. It is clean and in a residential neighborhood near an elementary school.
