Rockwood Apartments

I’ve been here for about 2 months and it’s been great. The complex is quiet (aside from the lawn mowers on Tuesday’s), pet friendly. 3 things I’m not happy about. 1. The closets. For a 2 bdrm 2 bath I have 1 hallway closet and it doesn’t have racks. So I have to keep my linen in vacuum bags until I figure out how/where to put them. The bed rooms have 2 closets each but 1 top rack like the hallway closet. 1a. The walls are cheap; Sheetrock. I have a cat and I know my neighbor below is tired of this cat having the zoomies at 7am. 2. Community room is non existent. During the summer there’s a pool, but what are families to do during the fall/ winter months? A game room would be nice, or have a space where we can watch the games and just vibe, or possibly reserve a time to utilize the space. 3. That park needs a major overhaul. It’s like someone’s backyard set for their toddler. I’ve been taking my kids to Glasgow park down Rt 40. There seems to be some construction going on so maybe they’re expanding. Other than that I’m content.

The amount of bugs you will experience while living here is crazy, from ants, water bugs to bee’s. This is a common occurrence, I’ve asked multiple neighbors and we’re all having this problem. The staff making It seem like they have never heard of any of the bugs that come in or that you don’t actually see any and try to downplay It as if you just let the bugs in when you open your doors. My family has gotten stung by a bee in our own apartment and nothing was done to seal any doors or anything from where they could have came in from.

I have lived at rockwood for about a year and I absolutely love it here.. its quiet, the grounds are kept clean, maintenance requests are taken care of in a timely manner, the communication between management and tenant is on point.. I would refer rockwood in a heart beat.

I am very picky and particular about where I live and I have had a really amazing experience here. I moved in during the pandemic in August of 2020 without being able to tour the unit. I have a 3 bed/3 bath unit and I love that the bedroom walls don’t touch. My kids and I have space and privacy, each with our own room and bathroom. The grounds are well kept and service requests are handled timely. Office staff is polite and available to answer questions… which I ask a lot of. I feel safe due to the amount of officers living in the neighborhood and given the current housing market I will likely renew my lease for at least another year. The neighborhood is worth the price and if you value a clean, quiet neighborhood, Rockwood is the perfect place to live.

Terrible place to live. Water problems every other day and then roaches on top of that. If it’s not one problem, It is another.

I was dealing with Rockwood apartments for weeks. We were going back and forth on the information needed. Every time I paid for another application, I was told I needed something else. Ended up paying for 3 applications and was still needed to do other things. My boyfriend was told to terminate his other lease, even though it will be up in a few months. This process was the worst process I have ever experienced. I was dealing with Monica and if she knew all of these necessary steps before, why weren't they stated. I would not recommend management is unhelpful and did not want to help. I spent over $150 in applications and fees to get nowhere and felt forced to pull my application out of the process.

We have stayed in Rockwood apartments for last 10 years and we have built great memories and we will highly recommend any future tenants as the apartments are clean, no rats/bed bugs, awesome management, quick resolution of issues, awesome portal to track community updates, pay rent online etc. The best thing of all they have kids play area, swimming pool and fitness center..Cherry on the top..!

Really disappointed with Rockwood. I came into town and toured the apartments in September of this year. I knew I would be moving to the area from Utah (across the country) in December. Monica gave the tour. She asked when I was looking at moving and I told her the first week in January. She told me that she wouldn’t know the availability for January until Nov 5 and to call then. I called very close to opening on Nov 5 and asked to speak to Monica. Someone else answered and said Monica was busy and asked if it was something she could help me with. I explained that I had toured in September and that I was told to call on that day for an apartment. She informed me there was no availability and there wouldn’t be until February. I asked how that was possible since I was told to call on Nov 5 and they wouldn’t know the availability until then (I called 15 mins after opening). She informed me it just happens and a lot of people had been calling wanting apartments so they went fast. I agreed and said I understood which is why I was trying to get one two months ago in September, and that I waited until they told me to, and now there isn’t any available. She said she could put me on a “waitlist (which I tried to do in September) “and that was the end of the conversation. Supposed to move for a new job and now have no place to live. Such a shame because I loved the complex when I toured.

Went there today & as expected, "no walk-in" sign. Called & left VM. Rec’d rtrn call. Was denied appt to schedule tour then directed to web for virtual tour. Advised I understood Covid concerns but they can’t expect people to commit without seeing physical unit. Response: “Well actually Covid has been a blessing to us because, we are completely occupied”. Well, that was the end of that for me.

We moved into the Rockwood development in May of 2020, and we couldn't be happier. We love the apartment itself, the amenities it offers (pool, gym, laundry in the units, quick repair services, etc.), and the attentive and beautiful landscaping of the development. However, what really made the difference for us was our leasing agent, Monica. When we were stuck between choosing Rockwood and another development, Monica made all the difference. Not only was she knowledgeable and professional, but she was also very personable and made us feel like friends, not just clients. She really made the stressful and scary task of apartment hunting an enjoyable experience, and again we couldn't be happier.

I love my spacious apartment! Where can you live in an apartment with 3 FULL baths, washer, dryer (in a separate laundry room), dishwasher, microwave, and other stainless steel modern appliances. I live in a ground floor apartment so I have a cute patio big enough for my plants, a couple chairs, small table, and my electric grill. Cozy and stylish electric fireplace in the living room is great in the winter months. Quiet, pet friendly (pets have their own park), pool, exercise equipment, tennis courts, walking trails, and playground. Can’t ask for anything else. Office staff is attentive and friendly. Free continental breakfast during the week days. Just an all around great place to live.

Rockwood has been on my list for a while and I didn't want to look anywhere else! The application process was quick and easy, and the leasing consultants are friendly and great to work with. The apartment itself is wonderful, spacious place and it was really clean when my roommate and I moved in. This is my first apartment and I wouldn't have it any other way :)

RUDE+NOISE+OUTDATED APPLIANCES+ROACHES+CRAZY FINAL SETTLEMENT. Stayed here for only 3.5 months, thankfully I am out of this place. Incredibly Rude manager Robin. this is the worst place I have stayed in the past 6 years (2 states, 4 luxury apartments). Firstly its not worth the money you pay. Everything in the unit is just cheap although its a new phase. The fridge door doesn't close on its own, it moves when you open the door. All appliances are outdated and inefficient models. Amenities are non-existent. you would never go to that gym with that awful odor. Had to reset microwave every other day, it would stop working. Entry door sills are non functional. you can hear every bit of noise from neighboring and top floor residents. Every tuesday is a nightmare with that lawn mower noise, that goes on for ONE FULL DAY! - front+back. I worked from home and taking office calls from home was such a pain. I spent $110 for professional cleaning, $25 for stove drip pans, $75 for ozone deodorization, but still they charge crazy when you move out for something previous resident was responsible. On top of that I was wrongly communicated that we had only 3 days to submit move-in checklist when I moved in. We actually had 10 days to submit one. I noticed a small pin hole in tub from previous resident 7 days into moving in, dint include it in move-in checklist thinking its past 3 days. I am charged an outrageous $175 for a small pin hole from previous resident. I am sure they are gonna charge the next resident for the very same reason and thats the reason they have left a microscopic pinhole in tub. Please be aware of it.

Staff in the rental office are disrespectful and abrasive. Every interaction with staff has been negative with staff speaking down to me, a paying resident. I have discouraged friends and family from signing a lease here and will continue suggesting they find other friendlier neighborhoods.

Rockwood is a great aparment complex, and I would highly recommend. I have lived at Rockwood for a little over two years in an existing construction 3 bed/3 bath unit and have had just about as positive of an experience as one can have. The apartment is spacious comes full of amenities at a decent price and is in a decent location. I also would highly recommend working with Robin, she was great through out my entire tenure here. She made not only the move-in process very professional and easy, but I received the same level of service when ending my final lease (which is rare from an apartment complex). She was very knowledagbel about the properties and truly tries to help your stay be as great as possible. I echo all of the statements below, the property is very well kept and quiet. The maintenance team is fantastic and very rarely have I had an issue take longer than a day or two to be acknowledged. Highly recommend.

My wife and I just signed a two year lease for a 2bed 2 bath existing construction model and could not be happier! Robin went above and beyond for us after the original unit we were going to be renting became unavailable due to the tenant pulling back their notice and looking back I am beyond happy with the unit we ended up moving into! We had an issue the first week with our dishwasher and they had someone out within a day to check on it and then they came back and fixed the issue entirely the following day! When we moved in they were even double checking things to make sure all of the touch ups that needed to be done were complete! We are so happy we choose Rockwood, the price is a little higher than we used to pay but the area itself is really high when it comes to rent! Thank you Robin and everyone at Rockwood for making our move in process go smoothly and great!

Rockwood is a great place to live. It's very quiet. I have been here for two years, and jus singed another two year lease. When I came to for a tour Monica was so nice and she was great with my four children. The process was great and the move in was even better. Whatever was told to my husband and I at the tour was true. The staff there are all AWESOME!!! They do a great job with keeping up with landscape and when maintenance come they do a great job with fixing things. My family and I have had a great experience here.

I had a very "challenging" (to say the least) move up to Delaware from Florida but the APM, Robin, was very accommodating, flexible and understanding. The entire community is quiet, clean, and well-maintained. When compared to the rest of the rental market in the Newark/Bear area, Rockwood is the best value for your money since you can live in a brand new unit for about the same cost as an older community.

I moved into the new buildings and have had nothing but problems. The office didn't have the right keys for me on move in day which created at least a 1 hour delay to just get into the apartment. The electrical wiring came loose in the wall and killed power to my living room, the Verizon service was not hooked up to the building even though I was told it was (3 week wait for the service to be completed then 5 hours of having Verizon at my apartment to get service connected) and the Verizon tech had to fix the cable line because it came off of the plug in the wall when they did the install. The dishwasher never worked properly and had to be replaced (1 week wait because they had Sears do it instead of their own maintenance "under warranty") the garages do not have any electrical outlets in them and no garage door openers. Everything was so bad I asked to be released from lease after a month and was told no, they gave me 1/2 off 1 months rent and sent the #2 guy in charge of Residential to provide mouth service but nothing useful...I would not recommend it to anyone, worse decision I have ever made.

We have lived here for 3 years since retiring and find the apartment spacious and well laid out, the grounds well kept, the amenities ample, the staff friendly and helpful; we have 2 principal issues with the place; first, the refrigerators supplied are too small particularly for a family or retirees who do not shop every week and need to be able to store more; second is the pool; at Rockwood you are required to purchase guest passes for any guests you bring, at a cost of $10.00 each, and you are only permitted ONLY 2 passes per day; as a community with a significant number of retirees with occasionally visiting families including grandchildren ( they also have kiddie pool) how do we deal with WHO can't use the pool with us on a visit? The staff are instructed to explain this as necessary for crowd control, but we have been here for 3 summers and we have YET to see more than 15-20 people at the pool although they have 16 chairs and 32 chaise lounges around the pool; a typical sunny day has 8-10 people and there is NO REASON to limit guests to only 2! so, don't think you'll invite the family and take the kids to the pool.

We've lived here for a couple of months now and must say its one spacious green community. I love it in here, especially the very own private patio and balcony. I must say that it's the staff that makes Rockwood community special. They are very friendly and courteous and always there to help make living here an experience in itself. Both Robin and Monica are knowledgeable professionals with great personality always willing to help and take care of things. A special mention about Victoria who leads this amazing staff. She connects with the residents via the community portal and shares knowledgable information on a daily basis. The maintenance staff provide prompt and exceptional service and always get the job done in a short time. The property in itself is always kept well groomed and beautiful. The breakfast bar here is such a warm place where everyone treats you like family! I must say its a very good feeling early in the morning. Can't miss the fantastic services provided by the spacious fitness center with all its facilities. Recreationally Rockwood is close to amazing parks such as Glasgow and Lumps Pond park. It is also close to a variety of shops and even medical centers. Just want to say that we've had nothing but great experiences so far! I'd refer anyone here. A Big Thanks! :)

I recently rented a bottom floor three bedroom apartment and I have nothing but good things to say about the place. The private entrance gives the feel that its your own little home vs. just another apartment. The rooms are spacious / the eat in kitchen is great and the living room is so spacious with a nice little fire place tucked away in the corner. The grounds are nicely kept and the office staff is great... They helped the process go as smooth as possible with the lease application and the approval process. I have nothing bad to say about the place - Great place to call home..

Rockwood Apartments are an awesome place to live, and I highly recommend you to at least consider taking up residence here. The office staff is professional and informed to answer any/all questions you may have. The development is very safe and quiet area. The breakfast bar is a great place to jump start your day. The gym is also a nice place to work out and is very convenient and is opened 24/7. The grounds are beautifully maintained. Overall Rockwood Apartments are a great place to live.

I have lived at Rockwood for 14 years and have thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated living here. The only reason I am leaving is that I am getting married and making a cross country move. The apartments are spacious, quiet and safe and the grounds are beautifully maintained. There have been several changes since I have lived here, but all have been positive. Management is always available and helpful. They go above and beyond to make the complex a true community. Victoria seems to know each tenant and always adds a personal touch. The maintenance team is responsive, friendly and reliable. Snow removal is continuous throughout the storms and maintenance makes sure that tenants can get safely to their cars and out of the complex. Any situation that arises with other tenants is dealt with immediately and professionally. I will miss my home and the team at Rockwood and wholeheartedly recommend this complex.

I had put in a maintenance request a few weeks back and a sweet young men i beleave his name was Christopher was so smart and and professional he re-paired my washer and dryer that i had been having trouble with the past 2 years and previous maintenance kept saying no problem was found but this young men dint leave until my appliances we're working like new i couldnt stop thanking him enough for his hard work . i have never seen some one so young work so hard . i hope he doesnt go any where cause i have had seen to many ppl work here and none last over a year .i would like to also thank victoria the office manager for taking her time to under stand my problem and sending some one over so quick to serve my needs also and thanks to the entire staff for for all the hard work they have put in with the snow it was so bad out there and they worked thru it none stop machines where going on all night and day by morning all side walks and parking lot where uncovered.

Hi, my husband and I lived in Rockwood For 3 years and we found it to be a nice place to live.l The staff was very helpful and respectful. These apartments have the best layout of any apartments anywhere in Delaware. We have looked everywhere and we keep coming back to saying...Rockwood is the place to go. It is the only apartments we have seen with a separate kitchen, room for my dining room set and living room furniture. The outside was always kept looking nice. The people who work there are people who know how to act with we, seniors. We will be back in December if they have one open for us. We never saw any problems that were not taken care of...one of the men came in our apartment to check on the rug. My husband was on a ladder trying to put up a a pretty light fixture' This man who didn't have to bother with anything but the rug had my husband come down and he put the light up for us. The rug....he had it cleaned within the next 2 hours. We offered to pay him but he wouldn't take anything. So, now I'm going to call there tomorrow and hope to get a 3 bedroom this time. I wrote this to let others know Rockwood is worth checking out. The best to you, Karen and Ken Lutes

These apartments are nice and quiet. The management tries and give a sense of community with yard sales and a daily breakfast bar. Has a 24/7 gym and a nice pool with a kiddy pool too. The rent is somewhat high but to me you pay to keep the riff raff out. I sleep good knowing my car is going to be there when I wake up.

I went to visit Rockwood in May. The model I was shown was beautiful. The apartment was spacious and I liked that the clubhouse had a nice and clean fitness center and the pool looked very inviting. Also a perk that they offer their residents a free breakfast. The only reason I have not submitted an application is the price. The price for a 3br was too steep for me. Maybe if the apartments included gas heat/cooking, I would have reconsidered.
