Property Ratings at Royal Crest Estates
Royal Crest Estates is not a good place to live. The properly is not well maintained the customer service (outside of Denise) is horrible. It is a classic bait and switch. They tell you that you can't see your rental apartment because it is not available, so they provide a tour of a show apartment. However the show apartment and the apartment you get when you sign your lease are not the same quality. The area is quiet, and you don't have a lot of issues in the area which is the plus. The apartments are big, and the layout is pretty decent I will give them that but the lack of care over the many decades is evident. They barely cleaned my building, like once a month with carpet. Which means at varying points it would smell. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere or I hope you one that has a good experience because many of us have not.

The apartment they showed us was different than what we moved into. There were loose screws all over the rug and stuff left in the cabinets. The streetlights all fell over after one storm and they stayed that way with broken glass and exposed wires for months. They hit you with tons and tons of hidden fees including a $45 charge a month for a "view of the woods" (ok? It's not even pretty or cared for), paying off the crummy shag carpet bill, and an upcharge for being on the higher floors as if that's an upgrade (not like there's elevators) so the advertised prices are way off base for what you're getting. The office and clubhouse are nice but the grounds are poorly maintained, apartments old and wearing down with visible settling cracks in the ceiling and foundation, laundry overpriced and barely works. Your lease might have different dates written on it from all the other paperwork they give you so pay close attention so you don't get screwed.
I, usually, would never go out of my way to write a review, especially a negative one. However, after living here for a little over a year, I think it is imperative that others are warned before this property. When I moved in, I was given the wrong set of keys for my mailbox, which I had to inquire about numerous times to finally get them. I was unable to check my mail for almost an entire month. In the duration of my residence; my fridge would not work correctly, even though everything was featured as new; there were marks in the microwave as if someone caused some sort of spark; everything is dirty, smelly, and drafty;vthe power went out many times with no plausible reason; there is consistent pet hair, poop and dirt throughout the halls; neighbors are rude and allow their dogs to run around without leashes; and managment was unresponsive, irresponsible, and churlish. Residence used narcotics and when managment was informed, they dismissed. There were many times that the dumpsters were overfilled and trash splattered about with animals sifting through them. There is a horrible bee and hornet problem throughout the property. There is consistent chaos in the parking lots from the residence. Several nights police called and chaos ensued outside. Most of the time, there was only one employee and there were consistent changes in employment in which employees confessed that they despised Royal Crest and couldn't bear to stay there. My packages were stolen many times and still have not recieved any conclusions as to who it was. Towards the end of my lease, there were multiple attempts to make me pay more than what was on the lease. I thoroughly cleaned the apartment as I was told that if cleaned the entire security deposit would be returmed. The lady that did the walkthrough on the move out date, checked everything was good to go and confirmed we would be receiving our entire depost back. I moved out and it has been five months and still haven't recieved it and now I am being told that cleaning expenses were deducted although it was previously signed off and confirmed that the apartment was left spotless. For the amount that they charge, poor managment,. horrible apartments and living conditions, you can find something better, safer an cleaner. This IS NOT worth a dime or any potential frustration.
Absentee management that doesn't address issues with tenants' daily narcotic use inside residences and on property which is a blatant violation of lease agreement . Tenants don't pick up after their pets; again, not addressed by management. Trash strewn around parking lots outside of dumpsters. Common areas of residence buildings are FILTHY with dirty stairwells & carpets, and cobwebs up the corners of the walls from floor to 3rd floor ceiling. Add to lack of effective management, the fact that residential units have not received updated countertops/cabinets/bathroom fixtures/faucets/sinks in what appears to be DECADES. Oh, and they habitually increase your lease payments by approx 10% every year without negotiation. Look elsewhere!!!
