Sitting on the north side of Minneapolis along I-35W, Blaine makes a nice, quiet hometown setting for folks who work in the Twin Cities but prefer an apartment in the suburbs. One of the city’s key landmarks is the National Sports Center, an enormous 650-acre complex that houses 50 full-sized soccer fields, a golf course, and the largest ice arena complex in the world.
Less-structured recreation is very popular here as well, with the large Rice Creek North Regional Trail Corridor and Carlos Avery State Wildlife Area just outside the city limits and several smaller public parks scattered around town.

Property Ratings at Royal Oaks Apartments
Very nice area and apartments. Good neighborhood with no drama whatsoever.
Very loud in the halls, toured heard people yelling and stomping up the stairs. Needs the parking lot redone. The manager was holding a unit (without deposit) for his friend over a week I guess. Was told he would call me by Friday to let me know their answer never got a call. I even tried calling was ignored and never got a call back. Not professional at all.
I live at this apartment for 2 years. I love the neighborhood, good school system and management is wonderful, and friendly community. I had a very good experience living at Royal Oaks Apartments. I going to miss everything. -Mildred Marchione
I've lived in Royal Oaks for the past 3 years, it has been nothing short of a headache. Corey the current Manager is decent but management changes very often here, and 3 of the 4 I have dealt with have been pains to work with. What is even worse at these apartments is the very, and I mean VERY poor maintenance. It would take weeks or even maybe months before a request got handled, and when it did get fixed instead of doing it properly they like to use the superglue and duct tape methods. Our apartment had heating issues, bathroom mold issues, sink, toilet, screen door, and cabinet issues that we waited a long time to get fixed. I'm still sitting on a request at the time of this review that was put in 9 months ago. Moving in was a nightmare also, originally we had our date set to move in and two days before the previous manager asked if we could change our date for a week later which we couldn't do. So we moved everything into our apartment... oh wait no we didn't we had to clean up the mess that the previous tenant, and the maintenance guy left in the apartment first. We spent almost 6 hours scrubbing down everything, and picking up fast food off the floor. Then we finally moved in but because the management couldn't keep to their promise we had to deal with having all of our moved in furniture moved around again one week after moving in so they could rip out the old cat pee carpet, and put down cheap wood tile floor. One other great thing I'm going to mention because I know they use it as a marketing point, the closets. Sure you get a ton of space because they are huge, but they use the the cheap sliding doors that have fallen off the track and hit myself and my 6 year old son. Their fix for this was to put the track rails on the floor as well, which doesn't fix anything since they pop out easier then they stay in them. Buildings don't get cleaned more than once a month also, they say it is done more but it really isn't. The apartments might be a bit cheaper for the Blaine area, but you might want to save some headache and spend a little more somewhere else, I should have.
I have lived in Royal Oaks in Blaine for the last year and I have been very happy with their management. I have only called Corey a couple of times but he has always got back to me soon after. They use texting for confirmations as well which is nice. -J
