The City of Huntington remains a center for arts and culture in the Mountain State. In its early days, the Ohio River provided the lifeblood to the city as steamships carrying coal and timber from the surrounding peaks used Huntington as a port. Today, it thrives as a lively city and has preserved many historic buildings by converting them into eclectic shops and restaurants. Ritter Park Historic District contains more than 70 historic homes, most exemplifying notable 20th century architecture.
Additionally, Huntington houses Marshall University which sits in the city’s center. The presence of the campus also contributes heavily to the art scene. The Red Caboose is a highly raved about art gallery in walking distance of Harris Riverfront Park. When large crowds pour into the community for a university football game, visitors and locals enjoy getting around the community by way of the Amtrak railway and Interstate 64.

Property Ratings at Royal Oaks at Pea Ridge
I have lived at Royal Oaks for almost 2 years and will be staying here! I love it! I am actually staying and moving into a 1 bedroom. Staff is amazing! Safety: could not ask for anything better! Key code to get into the main door to the apartment complex. Security cameras outside the building at all angles. Neighbors are amazing!
I rented a one bedroom here for about a year and a half. The building is clean, modern and spacious for a one bedroom. The property managers were friendly and accommodating. Any maintenance issues I had were addressed and resolved immediately. The pool, clubhouse, and gym were always clean and open for use. The added security of a key code to get in the door made me feel safe.
The dog park is perfect for lazy days. Awesome landlords and office staff, so friendly and willing to help with anything. Also...........TWO POOLS!!
I lived at Royal Oaks for a year and loved it. I was so sad to leave that apartment. The staff at Royal Oaks has been amazing and was always there to fix or solve any problems I had almost immediately. It is a nice, quiet place to live and I highly recommend living there, you’ll love it!
I love living at Royal Oaks! It’s very quiet & clean. Any issues I’ve had have been addressed the same day. We have access to two pools, a workout room and our own washer and dryer in the unit. Couldn’t be happier!
My husband and I absolutlely love living at royal oaks. Maintenance is always quick to respond. The landlord is always available through text or phone call if we have any problems. The community is awesome. There are 2 pools AND a dog park very well maintained!! We've moved 3 times in the last 4 years and by far this is THE BEST place we've lived in.
The apartments and entire complex is clean and maintained. Management is always willing to assist in anyway possible to make sure there are no problems. The amenities are enjoyable and conveniently placed within the complex. The whole complex and the outside hallways are well lit making everything feel even safer. You can walk outside at anytime of the night and feel safe. No worries of crime like some other areas of Huntington/Barboursville due to the community feel, well lit areas and security cameras throughout the community. Apartments are very spacious and feel like home. The location is great within the city and also very quiet and calm. Prices with the amenities, safety and all other features are very fair within the area. Management is continuously working to maintain the property and add updates to make the apartments and landscaping even nicer. No complaints or problems with my experience at these apartments and would recommend to anyone from students to families.
Very good place, spacious room, individual washer, dryer and dish wash. It’s located on a top of a hill, very good view, quiet place and very friendly neighbors. Tons of restaurants and grocery stores are around here. Utilities are reasonable and affordable. AC and heater work very well. It’s also a pet friendly apartment, have poop bags for dogs on the grass. Would definitely highly recommend this place.
I’ve lived at Royal Oaks for a few years and I absolutely love it here! It’s close to the interstate so it’s really easy to get downtown or to the mall. The living spaces have plenty of room and staff is quick to respond to any issues you might have. It’s also pet friendly here and there’s a little fenced in dog park area for pets to run and play. There’s two pools and grills to cook on that are really nice for summertime! The population is mostly young professionals, not too many undergrads as far as I can tell. It’s quiet and I’ve always felt safe here. Overall a really great place to live!
While the property itself is nice- communication with the property management was disorganized and frustrating. We were not aware of the fees we were being charged until we got our deposit back. They will charge you for the normal wear and tear of living in an apartment. While we cleaned very thoroughly, there may have been one or two scratches on the wall, but we were charged an exorbitant amount for repainting. Also charged for cleaning carpets which had absolutely no stains on them. So while we enjoyed living there, we were extremely disappointed with how we were treated after we left.
