Property Ratings at Rumely Lofts
Layout is great. Management is friendly and takes care of things in a timely manner. Location is awesome. Close enough to the bus station and Hy-Vee but still not on court Ave. One downside is the train can get quite loud but you get used to it. Landlord is very willing to make accommodations for disabilities. I highly recommend rumely lofts and manager kate and maintenance man Eric.

Hello, thank you for posting your positive review. We are committed to providing high-quality customer service, and we’re thrilled to hear that we made a good impression on you.
Current tenant for 6+ years. Love my apt and windows (tons of sunlight). I am walking distance to grocery store and tons of activities. Within a reasonable walk is the art park, Horizon Line, St. Kilda's, a great public library, plenty of great food establishments, the river , Secret Admirer and of course the skateboard park as well as just general fun downtown aura. Neighbors are a wonderful mix of people and generally respectful when they realize they live in a community. Many neighbors become friends. Management is top notch. Kate and Eric work diligently to make this place wonderful. There is a 'hidden' catnip garden on property for cat owners! Train noise is manageable and you get used to it. Some conductors are better than others about the way they announce train crossings.......Don't let this be a deterrent from a great space.

Hi there, thank you for posting your positive review. Our team here at Rumely Lofts is committed to providing high-quality customer service, and we’re thrilled to hear that we made a good impression on you.
Our daughter lived in Rumely Lofts for 18 months, she moved in two weeks before much of the state shut down for the pandemic. I cannot say how thankful I am that she was living in Rumely Lofts during this time. Kate was beyond wonderful as the apartment manager! Whenever our daughter needed something related to the apartment building Kate was quick to respond, efficient, and always helpful. Eric was great at maintaining the building and took care of all requests quickly and did quality work.

Thank you for leaving Rumely Lofts a review! We're so happy to hear that Kate and Eric provided high quality service for your daughter and were responsive, caring, and quick, especially during a diffult time!
We lived at Rumely Lofts for several years and loved the property and being downtown. We miss being there and close to everything downtown. In the past year, there was a new maintenance guy hired and he was great when we needed a repair or a light bulb changed. A new property manager started early this year and she is friendly and helpful. The place is well taken care of by the staff. The history of the building is interesting and how they blended some of the old features like the beamed ceilings and arched windows is beautiful into a very cool loft. We moved as we bought a house but miss the flow of life downtown. We would highly recommend Rumely Lofts. It's all about location and from Rumely Lofts you can walk almost anywhere downtown and have access to everything you may need, such as delicious Java Joe's coffee.

Thank you for the review! We have passed along your comments to our maintenance and management teams - we are proud of our staff and their commitment to residents. We're sorry to see you go, but congratulations on the house!
I loved Rumely at first. The building aesthetics are awesome and the location is right in the middle of everything downtown (pro & con). After a few months, the lofts changed to a new property manager and things are not being taken care of as they should. Neighbors have huge parties on the weekends and blast music randomly in the middle of the day for hours - I gave up on filing noise complaints because the property manager called the tenants asking if they were home during the time of the complaint blasting music.. in which they replied "no." So that was the end of her "investigation." Sunday mornings the lobby and elevator are trashed with broken glass and empty beer cans. One Sunday the main door to the building was smashed and glass was up and down the hall, so I reported it to maintenance, letting them know what I had found. A month later the property manager e-mailed me a receipt for the door damages, claiming I had called her confessing I broke the door.. I hadn't & didn't. When confronted, she said "Well, I guess if you didn't do it." I should mention that there are security cameras at that door which no one ever bothered to check. I tried talking to someone higher up in management but she only had excuses and really didn't care to take my concerns seriously. Almost every notice I received was not actually read by the property manager.. there would be dates wrong and paragraphs that didn't apply to anything. When I was nearing the end of my lease, I received a notice with a checklist before maintenance could walk through, stating I had to be moved out completely and everything needed to be cleaned. The date to do it all by was two weeks before I was moving out, so I asked her about it and she said "Oh yeah, I don't know why it says that." And now dealing with a security deposit return is difficult. Charges for light bulb upgrades to LED and cleaning charges, none of which were necessary or mentioned to us in advanced during the maintenance walkthrough.

Thank you for your review. We have shared your feedback with our upper management and our property manager who has been working at the site for several years.
These apartments are perfect for anyone wanting to veer away from the cookie cutter apartments that are all too common today. The exposed brick wall, stained concrete flooring, and the all over feeling of being an old renovated building gives residents the character that most apartments lack. And most importantly, location. This building is a block away from court and next to everything that is downtown living. Yet, being a block away sets the building apart from the loud noise of the bars and drunks. However, no building is without fault. Located next to the train tracks, if windows are open, it can be noisy (the building is well insulated and the noise is lessened when they are closed). Also, common areas are often dirty. This is mainly because demographics are more millennial than professionals. All over - I love living here. Downtown Des Moines is a great location and the apartments are unique and beautiful. You don't live in common areas anyways so the slightly stained floors don't bother me.

Thank you for your rating, your feedback is important to us. We are pleased you enjoy living at Rumely Lofts.
The apartment itself is pretty nice. It's the uncontrollables that suck. Drunks can be loud at night. Loud trains, and loud neighbors. The only bathroom is accessible through the bedroom. Great access to downtown. You will have to pay for parking separately. Mediacom cable only.

Thank you for your rating and review, we appreciate your feedback.
I first was very skeptical about living downtown because of the traffic and hustle and bustle but after I moved in and got settled (about 1.5 weeks) I was in LOVE with living downtown. I was within walking distance of literally everything. There is a walgreens 2 blocks away, and all of the types of restaurants and bars you could want were just a block away. The DART bus station is across the street. The staff are wonderful and the apartments are so well designed it makes the apartment feel unique and definitely gives you the loft experience with the huge industrial windows and concrete floors for those accidental spills! I would very much recommend living here, It is a great experience!

Thank you for your feedback. We are very proud of our amazing amenities and exceptional staff.
A great location for young adults/professionals being in the heart of downtown dsm and far enough off the court ave district. However: Don't expect to get your deposit back. Was told numerous times it was "in the mail"....been just about 4 months now and i have yet to receive it.
Fits the loft style description, great location and quiet area. Office staff willing to be available for assistance with questions and concerns. Check one out, they are scarcely available!
