Development on the Sandalwood neighborhood began in the spring of 1960. Designed to provide inhabitants with the ideal balance of work and play, Sandalwood sits approximately half way between Jacksonville city center and its nearest beach, which lies roughly six miles east of the neighborhood.
Developer Pearce-Uible's primary Sandalwood concept contained 500 houses. To give the neighborhood an exotic ambiance, Sandalwood's original streets were all named after Pacific Islands. Mindanao Drive, Hawaii Drive East, and Kusai Drive are three of those original roadways. Two more streets, Majuro Drive and Luana Drive, were added to the neighborhood in 1969.
Nearly half the houses in the modern Sandalwood neighborhood are quite new. The original 1960s properties reside in the northern half of the area, whereas newer houses extend to the southern part of the neighborhood. Several educational establishments call the area home, including Sandalwood High School, established in 1971.

Very pleasant, professional, and helpful
In the comimg months, I, will be transferring my employment from out of town to our Jacksonville location. As a result, I, went online and looked into several different apartments to consider moving into. Needless to say when I came across Ryan Oaks Apartments, I was very pleased. The reviews from previous and current resident's had such nice words to say about the apartments, locations, safety of the environment, maintenance staff, and the office staff as well. I began to communicate with Office Manger Alexis, and let me just say she was very informative, courteous, accommodating, and ready to assist. I'm very big on professionalism, respect, and kindness and Alexis has displayed that. I'm only in the beginning stages of their process but it is my sincere hope that I am approved and can call Ryan Oaks home soon.

There's no place like home, LITERALLY
I've lived in Ryan Oaks for 11 months and I must say, by far the most relaxing place after double shifts at work. When I first moved in, I wasn't satisfied because the neighbors above me were (and still are) extremely loud. After about 3 months, I'm glad to know that I can grab my broomstick and bang it against the roof like a grumpy old woman and the neighbors upstairs settle down. Overall, the apartment I'm in is cozy and I love living here and waking up Saturday mornings to my next door neighbor doing karaoke to his 2001 NSYNC album even though he sounds like the duck from the Aflac commercial

Ryan oaks looks awesome!
I am not a resident at Ryan Oaks, but I have spoke with the staff a few times, went on a tour and accumulated a pretty good idea of what it might be like living there. It's a small quiet neighborhood with not much in its immediate surroundings, but the town center and UNF are conveniently just a few minutes away.

Apartment Community is awesome!
I am so glad to have found this community.The community is quiet and clean. The staff is excellent and help you in every way possible. The community is close to stores,shopping malls and other entertaining places I need to find. I highly recommend this community to anyone who is looking for events,quietness, a pleasant staff and the ability to live in luxury for an affordable price.
