Positioned right where the San Joaquin Valley meets the Sierra Nevada, Bakersfield is a thriving community that wears its unique heritage on its sleeve. While one of California’s largest cities today, Bakersfield’s local character is heavily influenced by its agricultural background. Horse shows are popular, with many filling the calendar, and locals love to take advantage of the outlying landscape in off-road vehicles. Festivals throughout the year celebrate the city’s diverse cultural influences, including Native American, Basque, Greek, and Scottish events.
Musical traditions run deep in Bakersfield, and largely define the community.

Property Ratings at Sablewood Gardens Apartments
save your money apartments built cheap and management is a joke!
Don’t live here. They do not respond to any messages at all. The app they have for the apartment is a joke. I never got a response regarding a situation. The deposit I got back was ridiculous!!! They do have bugs just an FYI! I’ve left multiple messages and can’t even get a response back. Wish I had the option to rate no starts because that is what this place is.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. We clearly should have done better. Are there any remaining issues I can address for you? If so, I can be reached at Gary@GaryDeLong.com.
I’m not sure why there’s bad reviews on here because they couldn’t be further from the truth! I’ve been here since they opened, my kids have practically grown up here and we all couldn’t be happier. It’s such a close knit and family friendly community. Management is always so nice and incredibly helpful with how busy they get it’s understandable that it may take a day to get back but a day is the longest you’ll wait and if it’s an emergency they get back to you right away with no wait! Couldn’t be more happy here :) so thankful

Thank you for your thoughtful comments. They are greatly appreciated!
I love living here! I only left the first time because my ex and I broke up but as soon as I found a roommate I applied again. The units are clean and have been updated from when I first lived here. SO happy to be back!
Only moving out because we bought a house. I see people talk about the management poorly but that wasn't our experience at all. They do get busy but we never had issues with being helped. We pretty much always got help the same day or the next day which was a vast improvement from the last place we lived. I actually only came on here to write a review because they helped us out so much with the move out process (due to escrow dates constantly changing on us). Thank you!
The management at this complex is an absolute joke. Good luck getting someone to answer the phone or respond to an email in a timely manner, or even at all. The office is never open when it’s supposed to be. It took 4 days to even get management to acknowledge my maintenance request for a broken water heater in the dead of winter. The walls are paper thin, I could hear my upstairs neighbor talking on the phone. The pool and gym were closed 90% of my lease without any compensation.
I have lived in a lot of apartment complexes and this is by far the worst. The management is terrible and they are super unprofessional. My husband and I signed a year lease and only lived here four months. We couldn't get out fast enough. They make it look like such a nice place to live, but we had constant issues. I would never recommend anyone lives here.

As management, we want everyone to love where they live. We do not take lightly poor reviews as we work very hard to try to make every resident enjoy their time at Sablewood Gardens. We wish we had more detail to understand what took place to describe us as "unprofessional". Nonetheless we hope you are much happier in your new endeavors.
Dont do it! 1) You wont get your deposit back. Its been 7 months... we got partial and I have about 20 emails where they say “whats the address so we can mail it”.. “sorry we got busy”...”we will send it out today”. Unprofessional. Still waiting. -Heads up, Even if you leave the apartment in Excellent condition, you WILL NOT get all your deposit back. There is a cleaning fee, a list of fees. 2) The amenities are nice, but hardly open. -1 Grill works but covered in spiders ??. No thanks! 3) Management is really hard to get ahold of. -Even when they are in the office, its very common to see their sign up that they are closed. 4) Expensive! 5) Loud-If you live near the main street, its loud. Crazy considering you pay so much 6) Security really doesn't come around-which is why they have been broken into. 7)Dirty-Dont expect anyone to enforce cleanliness in the flower beds. Ours was filled with cigarettes and dog poop from the neighbors above us. 8) Bugs!!!! They say they have a pest control service but the only way you can get them to come out is you need to file a complaint. I had huge spiders and even worms in my kitchen. I literally moped and swept 2x a day. Disgusting.. I cant do bugs. We moved. 9) The gate- its always broken. So at night its often left open. 10). Maintenance- Super nice guy. Only have nice comments to say about the guy who works there. BUT its only 1 guy for the entire property so don’t expect to be prioritized if someone is moving in/or out. If you aren’t your own advocate, it’s going to be hard living here. We only stayed for 5 months. For the price, we expected A LOT more.
I’ve had the most amazing experience living in these apartments, not once but twice! They are up to date, efficient and have a home like feeling to them!! The location is excellent! Kim and Brooke are very efficient and amazingly nice and understanding. These ladies are very down to earth and easy to talk too. They have made my moving in and out easy! I will miss them! If you want a family feel, I recommend Sablewood Gardens!
The manager is very friendly, listens to your needs, neighbors were nice and understanding. Not far from restaurants and stores, only 5 minutes! Affordable place to live, and they're new! The trash situation was fixed, and I like walking around the complex!
Tries to be higher end living, but apartments are sad, poorly built and badly managed. Complaints about noise and over heaped trash bins have been ignored. Feels like living on east side of Bakersfield.
Property Manager at Sablewood Gardens Apartments, Responded To This Review
If you are a resident of Sablewood Gardens, we highly recommend you speak to Management about your concerns. Management does take every noise complaint into consideration and thoroughly investigates who is causing the noise and will contact everyone in the area. As the Community has reached 100% occupancy, Management is witnessing areas that deem more attention. The over filling of the trash bins and trash bags not making it into the dumpsters have been addressed by the residents. Management has increased the grounds keeping throughout the property, added a couple more dumpster bins in the enclosures and have placed signs on the exterior of the enclosure to remind residents to throw trash inside the bin. Thank you for your review. It is a goal for Sablewood as a new community to continuously improve and grow together as a community.
