Historic red brick architecture and modern glass skyscrapers share the streets of downtown Hartford, also known as the Insurance Capitol of the World. Unethical Landord: My son is a student and signed a 3 month Summer Lease at Sage Allen because he had an unpaid Summer Internship in Hartford. Sage Allen sent us 23 online documents to sign on my IPhone but the lease agreement was for a 3 month rental and stated the exact move in and move out dates. Sage Allen also made us pay much higher rent than the normal rent because of the short term Lease. When my son moved out, Sage Allen kept $450 of the $500 deposit with the excuse that he had not given their standard 60 days notice for a 90 Day lease. We complained and showed them our email communications with the leasing office at the time when we moved in regarding a specific mid month move out date which is also the end date in the lease agreement since he had to go back to school in another city. We specified everything down to the payments for the partial month. The landlord decided to hold us to their 60 day notice provision for full year leases even though the move out date was stipulated from the beginning (at day 90) and it was only a 90 day lease that we also paid extra for having it as a short term rental. Buyer beware renting at Sage Allen. They will take any excuse to get your deposit And did not hesitate to take that money from a student trying to get some experience over the Summer in an unpaid internship.

The place is nice but it comes at a cost. Office clerks will not make room for a smooth move in, they will give you instructions on paper and leave you to figure things out on your own. Beware of large fees for processing payments online, to avoid those fees be sure to use e-checks but don’t make any mistakes because the access to e-checks will be denied later if a payment cannot be processed (they give 2 chances, 1 day after the other so hopefully you’ve gotten paid within those 48 hrs). I usually work 7am to 5pm so getting in touch w office clerks for anything can be difficult in my busy work schedule.

I’ve genuinely have had no issues here. Staff have been amazing. Any issue i might have had with showers, dishwasher, was resolved within 24 hours. Amazing service. No noise complaints. I’ve loved living here

Pretty unhappy with the management of the apartments. They were still installing water meters and other basic things after I moved in. I've reported mold in the washers multiple times to no avail, the floor seems to be separating from the wall. The hallways are always extremely humid and the walls are paper thin. For the prices of these apartments, I'm super unhappy with the way the building are managed and communication to leasing office isn't pleasant. They act like they're doing you a favor by making you jump through hoops to figure things out.

Overall good living here so far. About 7 months in. Only small gripe is the shades hardly block out any light which is a bit unfortunate when my room is right by lots of lit lights at night. But the I really like my apartment and the staff is awesome!

Cool and affordable unit to reside downtown. I would give 5 stars if the bed/mattress was comfortable. The lighting can also use some upgrading, I enjoy well lit environments, someone else might not, so it really just depends. Overall, it’s beautiful and well maintained. Responsive and nice staff.

There has been an uptick in car-related theft in the vicinity of the complex, though that does not reflect on the complex itself. The parking garage does charge $100 per car per month, so some residents who choose not to park in the garage park nearby and have had tires stolen and windows smashed overnight. Be aware. There is no dog park at the complex and the current designated area for dogs is not a clean or well-kept area. The designated area is a rock garden bed between the complex and hotel next door.
The walls aren’t sound proof so it gets very noisy here. The apartment are very spacious which I love mg only complaint is the noises especially in the evenings.

My first year here was amazing. However, in my second year, things took a turn for the worse when the property manager changed. The amenities are lacking, and the high cost isn't justified. Additionally, the main building feels lifeless.

Everything is okay. It's super expensive for the size and location of an apartment. Other fees get tacked on later. It won't be my first choice when looking for new housing.

Overall clean and nice environment. The mattress in the room is very small, slippery and uncomfortable. Barely slept the first few nights. Additionally, the loud banging noise in the morning is worrisome. Otherwise, affordable and convenient.

The ladies in the apartment building are always on point and eager to help with any issues. The only downfall I would say is how noisy it can get in the apartment building. I live right next to the stairs and can hear everything from the people talking or simply walking up and down the stairs. Other then that minor issue, my experience at Sage Allen has been amazing!

Peaceful community! Friendly leasing staff. Easy accessible to nearby bus stops. The properties are well-maintained. Updated secured and controlled access. The only minus about my particular house is the noise of the washers and dryers from the upper floors even at night time.

I have lived here for 3 years and it has had its ups and downs. The complex is cleaned every week day and maintenance is great along with the office managers and they are all very friendly. However there are issues with heating if you live on the upper floors where they won't turn on the AC for months after it gets warm outside and you are sweating just sitting in your apartments. Also there have been instances where other residents have trashed the elevator or driveway. The street itself use to be nice but now there are a lot of people that park there illegally and throw food and trash out on the street and cars go speeding down the street. Overall the experience is better then most but there are a few things that can be frustrating.

There is so many days where the trash is piled up outside during the week and doesn’t get picked up by maintenance even though we pay for maintenance, hallway smells like cigarettes, stairway took almost a year to get cleaned, staff is more focused on getting carts back vs fixing these problems, elevator was down for 4 months, didn’t try to fix the elevator until 2 to 3 months after it was broken, parking garage gate was supposed to be controlled by a phone app which doesn’t work so at 10am we have to get out of our cars to open to gate which isn’t safe, windows allow so much cold air to come in, vents in apartment allow anything to come in whether it’s cigarette smoke or terrible fish smells from 2nd floor

Sage Allen has been a great place to live. Although it's in the city, it feels very homey and is actually pretty quiet, which I like. It also helps that the apartment itself is super cozy, has tons of storage, and nice appliances. Having a gated courtyard is a plus, as well as the rooftop terrace to get some great views, especially at night. Also, having garage parking is a huge plus, especially during snowy weather. I'm glad a friend of mine recommended this place to me, because I can't imagine finding a better place to live in the city.

Very clean, updated, modern apartment. The reason for 4 stars is because the amenities are not as described on the website. The gym is nice, but the courtyard area is lacking and the dog walking area needs serious improvement. It’s often covered in poop from owners not cleaning up and trash as well. I was told an area in the court yard was okay to use, then told by another staff that it was not. The fact that you have to pay a fee every year for these “amenities” that I can’t use is ridiculous. Other than that, it’s nice. Price is a little high compared to apartments in the surrounding area. I lived in the building. I would advise to stay away from the townhouses as I’ve heard terrible things about how cheaply built they are.
