Salem Commons

This place is a bad place to live. Very noisy people outside at night from one of the buildings (1800 I believe) especially one man that is out there at all hours yelling for people to disobey the rules and that nobody can stop him. People drinking on the hillside on the other side of the parking lost watching the complex. People smoking and tossing their cigarette butts everywhere a fire waiting to happen again. Trash all over. Kids unsupervised. And management pushing out the good tenants bringing in more bad. And when theres a problem management won't fix it until you move out. They move out people that pay lower rent so they can put someone else in that pays more even though they don't change anything. Do not live here, seek elsewhere

They allow smoking here it states that it is non smoking this is a false advertisement. They do not enforce the rules at all. There is no fitness room as advertised. There is NO on site laundry, you can rent a washer dryer combo from them if you dont have your own but it advertises on site laundry. there is no club house for the kids. kids play ball in the parking lot around cars, throw sticks and rocks around cars, are not monitored by parents or anyone. trash everywhere and cigarette butts all over. claims to be non smoking but thats a huge lie. rent somewhere else not here.

Whenever visiting my senior mother I saw an overwhelming amount of trash strewn throughout these shabby apartments. i could hear people talking in their apartments as I walked to hers in the hallway. Inside her apartment the noise from upstairs was so loud. The manager is phony and the co-manager is rude, crude and very mean tempered. The neighbors did not seem to follow the lease rules especially those younger parents with unsupervised or neglected children. There is no place for the older children to play that doesn't place them or tenants' cars and other property directly in harm's way. If you have senior parents or older children this is definitely the worst place in Salem for them to live. We moved ours out for all of these reasons and many more.

If you are going by the photos connected to this page, don't! They are ancient and not at all how these worn down, beat up, unkempt apartments look in mid-Oct 2017. There are no "resident managers," no security system or service, no enforcement of very important lease contract rules. Cruddy messes to get trash to a dumpster, like rotting food left in the parking lot and right outside of the dumpsters. Very dangerous for children since there is no place for ones older than 4 or 5 to safely play. They do so between cars, in the road, hallways and right in front of renters' windows! Loud, banging, yelling and screaming, drunken parking lot gatherings and t-totally missing maintenance and management.

Over the past 2 years Salem Commons has been mismanaged to the degree of wood showing through the missing paint on buildings, green mold on the siding, and filth in the hallways. The amount of noise, parked cars and porch items damaged (even set on fire!) has increased due to zero monitoring or security. Guests who visit are concerned about the amount of unwanted parking lot activity that impedes safely parking, driving and walking.

When I surfed across this page it was obvious these photos have not been updated for many years. Salem Commons has been turn apart and let go. It used to be a nice looking place. It is not now.

Visiting a close senior friend frequently from 2016 -2017, I have noticed that there are problems with noise inside the apartment, vehicles being damaged outside in the parking lot, unattended little and mid-size children, and after dark, teens being very rowdy close to the buildings where residents are trying to relax or sleep. Balls are thrown at the buildings and cars by the unattended youths. There is no adult supervision in sight. The condition of the buildings have become increasingly run down over the past year with mold eating into the vinyl siding and what looks like weeds growing out of the guttering. The building entrance doors are horrible looking--either stripped of paint or have large pieces of molding broken off of them. It is a depressing sight and I am sorry for my friend who lives there. The management does not take care of the buildings or provide any type of security on the property. Safety is a problem as is drug abuse.

There are lots of problems going on at Salem Commons. The buildings are not being kept up by the management or the owner. They are a real mess inside and outside. The hallways are filthy and trashy. The sanitary conditions outside are way below standard due to littering by children who are not supposed to be active in the parking lot at all. They leave food to rot on the sidewalk and in parking spaces.The dumpsters wreak of rotten food. Dog doo is not cleaned up by the pet owners and left on the grassy areas for people to step in. Management is only two old women and one is really mean to residents. The only thing that does get done is landscaping and they don;t ever clean up the trash, just mow over it! The photos online look NOTHING like the actual buildings because the buildings haven't been kept up cleaning or painting wise. It is a real mess. The noise inside and outside is awful. There is zero security so cars are damaged by children who are allowed to get away with doing so. Think carefully before renting and ask tenants about the conditions.
