In 1664, two Quakers quarreled over some land along the river in New Jersey. One of the Quakers, John Fenwick, decided to organize a colony on the land and set himself up as governor -- in defiance of an agreement brokered by William Penn to settle the dispute. Today, Salem's picturesque and historic downtown offers a glimpse into the city's long history with its brick-paved sidewalks, period lighting, and quaint buildings housing locally-owned shops and restaurants. The landmark Old Salem County Courthouse is the second-oldest courthouse in the country and the oldest in the state -- it was built in 1735.
As one of New Jersey's less-populated cities, residents of Salem enjoy a little extra elbow room -- elegant houses sit atop large lots, surrounded by mature trees, and open park space provides gathering places for the community. The Salem River flows along the northern edge of Salem, and the Delaware River is located directly west.

Property Ratings at Salem Manor Apartments
The management company that over sees this property is an absolute joke. I had an appointment scheduled and instead of someone that represents the complex showing up to greet me and provide answers to any questions they sent the grounds keeper guy who, through no fault of his own had no clue about any of the specifics regarding a someone trying to rent a unit. I was told that there were a number of evictions coming and I'd probably get one of those but he wasn't sure. then when the managment company reaches back out to see what i thought I expressed my concerns and the text messages have been ignored. The unit I toured didn't look bad but it was already rented to someone. The guy didn't know if there were even units there were open to rent. Wasn't worth the almost hour drive at all.
Under new management, beautiful apartments, kids love the new playground! Staff is helpful, maintenance is quick to respond!
Moved here a year back juat renewed my lease. They did a great job.
Came back here after new owner. 5 star service great team. And great units
