Located approximately 40 miles north of Downtown Phoenix, North Gateway is a sprawling community made up of open desert, nature preserves, and suburban streets. North Gateway is home to a portion of the Phoenix Sonoran Preserve, an open desert park with miles of hiking and biking trails that allow visitors to explore the green plains of cacti. Lake Pleasant Regional Park sits just a few miles from town as well, offering boating, fishing, camping, hiking, and gorgeous views. North Gateway sits at a higher elevation than the city below, sporting cooler temperatures and bluer, wider skies.
Although the quiet neighborhood’s ranch-style homes sit tucked away in the solace of the mountains, North Gateway remains connected to the greater Phoenix area via Interstate 17 and Carefree Highway. Apartments, houses, condos, and townhomes for rent in North Gateway range from affordable to upscale.

Property Ratings at San Norterra
This apartment complex is completely gorgeous. It is well maintained and kept up and if you have any issues the apartment staff fix it right away as soon as they can. They are always nice and pleasant to you when they see you. Everyone in the complex is completely nice they even have a little group website going for people through out the apartment complex to trade things or offer things to other neighbors. It gives you the comfort feeling of not actually being scared to meet you neighbor. I completely fell in love with this place. Lastly but not least the interior of the apartment alone is completely outstanding. Unlike many apartments you have the whole norterra shopping center at the disposal of your finger tip. One more thing this apartment is paper free so they do help save trees as well :) Hope everyone will be able to find this review helpful to them when looking for an outstanding apartment. Definitly worth the money that you pay.
I love San Norterra. We have such a relaxed life here. The grass is tremendous and well kept (important in the desert). It's very pet friendly. The pool is awesome. There are also nearby hiking trails that my husband and I love. We have a one-bedroom and the space is used quite well. EXCELLENT storage. My favorites are the hall cabinets, outdoor storage and storage above the desk. Part of my job is work from home, and it is a really nice place to spend the day... We used to have really terrible upstairs neighbors who were in domestic disputes, but management was helpful through that whole process. Now that we have a new neighbor, the noise isn't bad. It was clearly a personal issue of the other tenants. A big thank you to management for being so helpful with that whole ordeal! We really do love where we live.
My wife and I have lived here for a little over a year and a half, and we absolutely love it. The grounds feel like a resort, with a very secure gated entry, enormous pool with waterfall, hot tub, indoor/outdoor common areas with TV's and fireplaces and a sand volleyball court. The apartments are very nicely furnished with granite counter tops, very high quality laminate wood flooring and tons of storage options throughout the apartment. We moved here from Washington D.C. and still can't believe how nice of a complex this is for the price! Management (Mark-Taylor) is also the best of any apartment complex we've stayed in. They are always very friendly and quick to accommodate (whether with maintenance requests, general questions, etc.). The only cons of this complex cannot be attributed to the apartments themselves, which is why I didn't reduce a star. 1) Some tenants are disrespectful of their cigarettes (often dropping them in the well manicured landscaping) and others do not pick up after their dogs (even though San Norterra provides free doggy stations throughout the grounds). 2) We have a first floor apartment and the noise from upstairs neighbors can be a nuisance sometimes. Our first upstairs neighbors often had domestic issues, which was often disturbing, however San Norterra management was always incredibly understanding of our complaints and quick to respond/intervene. We were notified that they were often fined for their failure to meet the community codes, so a huge thank you to management for taking care of the issue. A new neighbor moved in above us recently and has not been an issue at all. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend staying here. It is close to shopping and dining options, and is a bit removed from the more "downtown" areas so you get to be removed from heavy traffic and noise, while still having quick access to outside amenities and the highway. The price and quality can't be beat, and if that's not enough to convince you, the hiking trails behind the apartments are great and we get some of the best sunset views in Phoenix!
