Property Ratings at San Paloma Apartments
Moved in a Year and a half ago and was in a Beautiful one Bed Room moved in the same place to a Two Bed Room Great easy to get to work and stores and doctors, the Staff in the Office are the Absolute Best! Maintenance are Great and can Solve any problem with fixing on things...I am Grateful to the Woman that works in that office they are professional and kind. my car was towed from in front my door, I have the handicap placard and forgot to put it in the window and got towed I was hurt and upset but it was my fault not following the Rules of the place I can't be mad at the office I needed to pay more attention to what I was doing. My Point is when things don't go our way look to see what part we played...and find the answer...I'm Still a Resident
Do yourself a favor and find another place to call home. By far the worst experience I have ever had renting. Have so many complaints but today tops them all. The apt upstairs from us has a water leak they provide little to no help, the manager basically tells my pregnant wife that they are going to spare some kind of chemicals to treat the toilet water that ran down the walls soaked our mattress, box spring and entire carpet. Then tells her that it is no problem that the chemicals are safe, but won't put it in writing. So now we have to find a hotel room on our dime of course because it is not their problem that we choose not to stay in a room that was flooded by toilet water. So if you're reading this know this is just the worst of many bad experiences at San Paloma apartments, there's certainly better places and cheaper I'm sure!
We're in the process of downsizing from homeownership to an apartment. We visited San Paloma on 7/3 and toured of a 2/2 with Nora. Nora was very nice, answered all our questions and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We also like the fact that this property has been owned by the same family since it was built so we don't have to worry about constant management company turn around. They also do employer discounts which is another plus for us! I have been in the apartment business for over 40 years and I currently help manage 715 student apartments. I am very impressed with San Paloma!
Community policies are not enforced. The staff is rude and unhelpful—going as far as being retaliatory against residents who make requests for repairs. The grounds are covered in animals waste. Parking is not regulated. You are not guaranteed a parking spot, and they will not create additional handicapped parking spaces, despite all of the available spaces being consistently filled. Each of the 13 buildings is surrounded by banks of outdoor air conditioning units—26 individual units at each building. None of the 300+ units are property insulated to prevent the ungodly amount of low-frequency vibrations. The maintenance staff speeds around the grounds in a dilapidated old pick up truck with music blasting at full volume. They use garages intended for resident parking/storage for maintenance purposes and are constantly moving equipment and machinery in and out of these garages, which are located within 50 feet of bedroom windows. This begins at 6:00 am and continues until past 10:00 pm. Any issues brought to the attention of management are swiftly denied. They refuse to accept responsibility for enforcing the policies they have set. The “courtesy officer” becomes aggressive when residents request his services. If you have a noise complaint, you must confront the offending party yourself or waste the time and resources of the Austin PD. Residents are permitted to perform vehicle maintenance in the parking lots and often leave hazardous waste materials behind. The system used to collect residents waste is unsanitary and unsafe. Raccoons frequently forage through the pile of bags left under the stairwells. On hot days, the smell of rotting garbage fills the breezeways. My advice is to find somewhere else to rent.
Be careful living here. There is a homeless camp on the South side of the apartments and the inhabitants break into cars. They broke into my car just for spare change! Then threw everything into the parking lot in the middle of the night.
I have lived here for three years and I have because I do not have the extra money to move. Since moving in, this place has continiously gone down hill. Management sucks, maintenance sucks, trash is all over and they don't clean up. I came home one day to dog crap all over the breezeway, I called and no one ever came to clean it up. I can rent a home for a better price than rent here.......$1,000 plus a month for a tiny one bedroom with a maintenance team and management does not listen to your needs and do not care about you. When I asked for the upper management or owners number I was told I cannot get that. So nothing can be done about the crappy service that renter's receive living here.
My fiance and I relocated to Austin early this year after getting our first out-of-school jobs, and this was the nicest complex in our very meager budget by far. The amenities are great- we love the hot tub and gym, especially. And white our apartment is small, we've never had any problems with it. Once or twice there were some problems this year with the residents, but you'll get that just about anywhere. Our only wish is that they had better security measures to keep non-residents from sneaking in when residents open the front gates as they're coming or going. But overall, a very good experience so far, and we'll likely be renewing in March.
Yes the pool is nice but I wish they paid more attention to their residents and the buildings. They recently "repainted" the buildings but it's been months and there is still paint spills and over spray all over the stairway, it's a very sloppy job. When they were redoing the carpet in one apartment it was pouring rain outside and the guy still cut out the carpet outside allowing dirt and rain to get all on it. Some of the girls in the office are helpful while others act as if your bothering them. There has been so many nights of people getting their cars broken into or vandalized. They changed the gate codes but it's like the gates are always broken or something because the gates are always open especially on weekends.
There's over 200 apartments with great amenities. Green box on site with current DVDs, huge resort spa pool, sauna, two volleyball courts and a gym. Close to bus lines, grocery store and shopping. Pleasant staff always working hard to keep tenants entertained with parties, movie nights and other activities. Not to mention free coffee every morning and free breakfast every other Saturday!
We've lived here a while now and I would not and have not recommended moving in here to anybody I know. They have raised our rent to a ridiculous price and they are not helpful. When you need maintenance, they take their time about fixing what you need fixed. Stay away from San Paloma. Nothing good about living here.
From the moment I walked onto the San Paloma property in May of this year during some apartment searching on a job interview visit to Austin, Texas, it was clear, this was no ordinary apartment complex. From the towering ornate doors, to the immaculately kept and adorned leasing office suites, to the jaw-droppingly expansive, and resort-style pool and spa areas surrounded by scores of palm trees and budding plants, I knew I was home. I was greeted cheerfully and quickly, and was both professionally oriented to the property and perhaps more importantly, really listened to, as to what my needs, wants, and hopes for my new home would possess should I be extended a job offer. I took notice of the carefully manicured grounds, the gate access that demonstrated San Paloma's commitment to safety and security of its residents, the clean, Santa Fe style apartment complexes. The tour included an up close viewing of the amazing resort-style pool that looks like something one would see in ancient Rome or Greece, with its towering fountains, crystal clear water, sandstone brick pathways, private portico area for group gatherings, two gas grills, plenty of clean and maintained seating, and professionally landscaped surroundings. For the indoor aficionados, there is plenty of room to relax in the leasing office, including a huge fitness room with ample light and entertainment options, a coffee bar, warm-water spa, sitting and gathering areas, and even a salon. San Paloma is also very conveniently located to all parts of Austin and the surrounding areas, nestled between Round Rock and Austin, and within miles of all major transportation systems. The rent is very reasonable and in-line with similar properties and market value for the Austin area. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and knows everyone by name. And last but not least, on the occasion when maintenance is needed, I have received courteous service immediately, oftentimes within an hour or two, and most certainly the same day. Given all of these facts and amenities as aforementioned, I highly and without reservation recommend San Paloma to all apartment.com readers and subscribers. There is a saying that ‘home is where the heart is.’ And here, I know that is most assuredly the case, and as I tell anyone who is considering moving to the fastest growing city in the country, to consider San Paloma…because ‘home is where the palms are.’
The unit seems nice with great carpet and is pretty quite. Office staff is mostly friendly and maintenance is prompt. Overall it's a good place for the price.
