Located along the Hackensack River in Bergen County, Teaneck is a terrific town with tree-lined streets, river views, and a major university. Fairleigh Dickinson University is the state's largest private university, established in 1942. Teaneck, settled by the Dutch around 1700, features several historic locations. One of those, the Banta-Coe House on the university campus, is one of New Jersey's oldest colonial homes, built around 1700. Other homes built in the 1700s include the Brinkerhoff-Demarest House (1735) and the Caspar Westervelt House (1763). New Bridge Landing, on the Hackensack River, is where General George Washington and his troops were forced to retreat from British forces. The current bridge, built in 1888, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

In addition to its rich history, Teaneck contains 23 parks, Overpeck Golf Course, and several shopping areas.

Renter Beware

I live at 34 State Street and Fernando the Superintendent is responsive and attentive to maintaining the building. Unfortunately there are unemployed residents who utilize 34 State Street as a 24/7 social hall for numerous loud, disruptive guests who chronically disturb rent-paying tenants and intimidate them into moving. If Citiview addresses the chronically disruptive guests I will update this review.

Spaceous, good bones poor up grades

I live in a fairly well maintained pre-war building with big rooms, double closets and great architectural bones. However, the electrical upgrades put in a few years ago now, were not integrated into the walls but, over the arcitectural details, breaking up and ruining the existing beauty. Thinsg look good when first entering but then you realize... somethign's awry.
