South Carolina’s oldest and largest city, Charleston is nicknamed the “Holy City” because of an ordinance stating that no building can tower over the tallest church steeple. Because of this, there are no skyscrapers of any kind in the city, which has allowed Charleston to maintain its historic character. Home to a stunning landscape and award-winning restaurants, Charleston is truly the center for all things Southern charm.
History buffs revel in the many historical sites throughout Charleston, including the Fort Sumter National Monument, where the first shots at the Civil War were fired. Pristine beaches, the mighty Angel Oak tree, and the vast Lowcountry are popular with the city’s nature lovers. Residents adore the unique boutiques lining King Street, and the live performances at America’s first theater, the Dock Street Theater.

Property Ratings at Sawgrass Apartments
I am about 8 months into my lease at Sawgrass apartments and it has been amazing! My roommate and I rented a two bedroom apartment, apartment R5. I don't have a single complaint and the ladies who work in the front office are always extremely helpful. The only problem we had the whole lease was that our garbage disposal stopped working but they sent maintenance in just a couple hours to fix it. The location is proximal to downtown as it is right off the connector but at the same time you don't have to deal with the same level of traffic and noise that comes with living downtown. My roommate and I are extremely pleased with how living here has gone so far and we will absolutely be renewing our lease for next year. Thank you Krysta and Victoria.
I have lived here for almost 10 months and when I moved in my freezer/refrigerator leaked horribly. The leak actually builds a hill of ice in my refrigerator. Maintenance has been out several times and it still leaks. I went without ice during hot months. I reported it immediately and was told a new one would be ordered and delivered within a month. It's 8 months later and the freezer still leaks horribly into the refrigerator. My family is unable to use the crisper drawers in the refrigerator. I live in a "renovated unit" with a broken refrigerator my entire lease.
My apartment was built in the 70's and is roomy but needed updating badly. It is 3 bedrooms and 1200 sq ft but had a galley kitchen. The complex was bought out and the present owners are in the process of renovating every apartment. The renovations are incredible beginning with opening the kitchen up to the living room with a bar. I now have a total stainless steel kitchen with more room due to the removal of one coat closet that was never used as such. Crown molding was added, the sliding glass doors to the patio were replaced with French doors with mini blinds between the glass. Plantation blinds replaced mini blinds on all windows. New floors and carpeting were just another of the updates. I love the location of this complex (close to downtown Charleston and my grandchildren) so I was willing to temporarily move while the renovations were being done. The complex will become gated when all apartments are renovated. I will stay here forever.
