Koreatown is a vibrant LA neighborhood fille with hidden gems, bars, eateries, and a collision of cultures. As the name suggests, the atmosphere in Koreatown is heavily influenced by Korean culture. The neighborhood is a favorite destination among foodies city-wide for its endless selection of authentic Korean restaurants, but the community has a much more diverse character than that: the broad range of cultural influences is exemplified in landmarks like the synagogue and contemporary art gallery of the Wilshire Boulevard Temple, the Latin fusion cuisine of Roy Choi’s restaurants, and the popular German/Korean/Hawaiian tinged gastropub, Biergarten.
Although the area is a hot spot for LA residents’ day trips, Koreatown is known as one of the best places to live in LA. Most locals rent their homes and enjoy parks, coffee shops, and stores within walking distance of their apartments.

Property Ratings at Sawyer
You will hear your upstairs walk. The sounds is like floor cracking...if you happen to have a neighbor like mine who walks heavily, drop items on floor and has tense activities at midnight, you won't sleep. I'm sure your mental health will suffer. The management company will not care about resolving it but asking you to endure.
Do not move here! There is always something wrong from mold, to building smelling like marihuana, people parking in your designated parking spot, noise all the time, elevators not working and the list goes on and on.
1 Star review specifically goes out to the parking policy. I've been living here since March 2023. When I moved in, the apartment had plenty of guest parking. It was great. However, there is a senior home next door that the apartment had some sort of agreement with and now the guest parking have turned into their employee parking. Wish this policy was announced sooner so I wouldn't have renewed my lease.
Getting close to the end of my lease and I’ve mostly enjoyed my time here. Some other comments mentioned issues with management, but I’ve always had requests taken care of quickly. I had one package stolen before they implemented full time security. As a young woman, I feel safe in this building, though not safe walking alone outside at night in the area. I must have been lucky to be surrounded by respectful neighbors because I hardly hear the ones next to me or above me. That being said, the top floor can be a bit rowdy from what I’ve heard when I’m on my patio, so I wouldn’t recommend living directly below them. I’ve had issues with other tenants leaving pet waste, cigarette butts, and other gross things in common areas/elevator/garage, but whenever I’ve reported it, it’s gotten cleaned up. The only thing that isn’t enforced that well is smoking on balconies. If you live with the patio facing the courtyard, you WILL smell the cigarette smokers if your door is cracked. When I toured buildings here almost a year ago, this building was the nicest and felt the safest. Overall, I enjoy the building itself and my only issues stem from a small handful of inconsiderate neighbors.
Only go by the poor reviews because they are the honest truthful ones where I found myself nodding along and grateful I'm not the only one having a terrible living experience here. I have been miserable here for almost a year and am stuck in an 18 month lease which leaves almost ZERO room to get out of. Basically you're stuck so read the lease word for word to make your choice. Quality of the units are terrible. The building and units LOOK nice, but are made poorly and I've had so many maintenance issues. Walls are ridiculously thin and you can hear conversations around you word for word and I get scared to talk about private matters sometimes. The unit right next to me seems to have multiple people who do not work because I work from home half the week and they are playing movies and music since 8 AM super loud. Complaining does no good because they'll say they gave out a warning, but nothing changes. DO NOT LIVE HERE. You will be paying a crazy amount of money in exchange for poor quality of life, rude neighbors and management that is not equipped to handle this number of isues.
Constant fire alarms going off in the middle of the night, EXTREMELY thin walls, like your next door neighbors and those who live above you. You can hear EVERYTHING. Giant headache all around. And management doesn’t really care at all. Cheap building, terrible management, half of our outlets dont work and they never came to fix them. For how much you’re paying, this place is a joke.
My apartment is beautiful but that’s about as far as it goes. This building is unclean and unsafe ! Always a lot of trash outside. There’s only One cleaning lady, none of the common areas are ever clean especially the pool and the rooftop deck the furniture has been rained on which means that it’s soiled and molded and it has not been replaced. Shoes were stolen from in front of my door, there is tons of Airbnb units which means there are random people in and out daily ! Do not rent here go somewhere cleaner and safer. James the manager is completely checked out of his position as a manager. You will regret signing a lease trust me.
The way this management addresses residents is just disgraceful. I have numerous emails that I could provide to show how he talks down to residents, is incredibly disrespectful, doesn’t respond to emails or maintenance requests. It’s been addressed with him numerous times and he still still doesn’t know how to address people with an ounce of respect. The overarching company doesn’t seem to care either. There’s so many issues in this building too. Packages getting stolen (which he will just say “lease releases us from liability” and not address the reasons it’s happening), fire alarm going off in the middle of the night for 30 mins many nights over the course of the month, noise issues. He also lied during the leasing of the apartment. I felt like I should post this here because even though the apartment looks nice at first glance, it’s super cheap and with such terrible management it’s not worth it.
The building is new, which is great, but the walls and floors are extremely thin. You can hear your neighbors on all sides of your apartment. Too bad noise wasn’t taken into consideration when this building was being designed and constructed.
Poorly managed property, the management is a joke they don't care about their residents at all. The trash room is filled with trash and no one comes to clean it. You have to request multiple times for a service even it is emergent. The entire building has very limited internet connection and you can't even make a phone call.
The apartments are brand new and have great appliances. Lots of amenities and on top of that the leasing agent, James was really quick to answer all questions and went above and beyond to make sure we knew all the costs and information about the apartment. Very great experience! Would highly recommend it.
The property itself is aesthetically beautiful since it is brand new however good luck trying to deal with management if you decide to live here. Basically if you have questions / concerns / repairs you'll have a very hard time reaching anybody. Not sure if they are just lazy or straight up incompetent but I have never dealt with building management / landlords that have such poor communication with its tenants (how hard is it to respond to an email...even with a few words?). Again, the place is nice, but if you decide to rent here, just pray you never have issues that require building management help.
This is a brand new apartment but it’s poor management is a big issue. They have not cleaned the pool chairs, pool umbrellas, outside chairs, or pool floor in months. This is frightening in the age of covid. When you walk along the pool your feet turn black and many residents have resorted to bringing their own wipes to clean when they visit the outdoor areas because it has gotten out of control. The halls always smell like trash from the trash room and I saw a flying roach on my hall a few weeks ago most likely from the trash room. Not a good sign!! They do not clean areas for days and never vacuum the floors. I can only imagine what the apartment will be like when they are done trying to fill it with people. People here are nice and kind but the cleanliness is very worrying as a new resident here.
Look at these fake reviews... What a joke. We scheduled a tour we get there and our agent wouldn't pick up her phone. At least have the decency to cancel the appointment. This is the second time this is happening to us. If future tenants get treated this way God knows how they'll treat their current tenants. Rude security guard wouldn't even open the door to answer our question. Wasted an hour driving there. Keep in mind we got 6 reminder emails. At least their computers do a good job...
I usually don't write reviews but I guess I have to. Why 1 rating? 1) The current leasing managers here aren't prompt in addressing your requests. Please show that you care by acknowledging and feeling sorry. 2) Do they care about current residents? Heck No. What do they care about? Getting new residents to this property. 3) Your maintenance requests aren't completed for few days sometimes. I won't say don't come here but please keep your expectations super low with your requests. It's pretty disappointing.
Checked out this apartment while driving passed it. Called the number and was told that it was fully booked for tours but was able to schedule me for the next day. Was running a-little late for my tour and told the agent Brian and he was very understanding and was still able to give me a great tour! Building is brand new. I think it opened like a couple months ago. Great specials and great units! Very happy i was able to lock in a unit with them since the units are renting quickly!
Solid experience touring the facility, and our guide, Bryan, was informative and attentive. We viewed about 4 different apartments over 2 days and he accommodated us on short notice. Listened to our needs and got us into a spot that is exactly what we needed. The many elevators is a huge plus for moving in. Clean amenities and the appliances are great quality.
It's a new property and we found a vacancy that no one has ever lived in before. Floors are super clean, hallways are well lit, and I really love the recessed lighting in each unit. The property is within walking distance of a few local eateries and coffee shops like daves hot chicken and alfreds coffee (Which are my local favorites) but you can also drive like 5 minutes to the heart of ktown which is always a good time. Amenities are top of the line too (pool, gym, underground parking, rooftop). Definitely check this place out.
