Located in Downtown Seattle, First Hill is the city’s first neighborhood. The historic neighborhood is also known as “Pill Hill” for its abundance of medical and research institutions, such as Swedish Hospital and Virginia Mason Medical Center. First Hill is also home to Seattle University and the famed Frye Art Museum. Defined by steep hills, First Hills juxtaposes the old and new with historic brick apartment buildings, modern high-rise apartments, and charming houses. First Hill is extremely walkable and there are a variety of shops and restaurants in the neighborhood for residents to enjoy. Living in First Hill also places resident minutes from some of the city’s most popular hotspots like Capitol Hill, the International District, and Lower Queen Anne, home of the iconic Space Needle. First Hill has several rail stations and Interstate 5 runs on the western edge of the neighborhood making traveling through downtown easy.

Property Ratings at Saxton
Apartments themselves are OK, but almost everything else is awful. From cleanliness, to maintenance of community areas, hallways, stairwells, outside areas, trash chutes, parking, elevators, leasing office, noise, crime, intrusion of outsiders, mail, places for pets, rooftop… the worst of the worst. Depressing place.
I've lived here 2 years and this building has gotten considerably worse - garage door breaks constantly. Recycling chute has been down for MONTHS, paying for Fetch delivery service (when residents didn't want it and even with that, packages get stolen from doorsteps INSIDE the building). Noisy AF. Homeless people seem to break in hide out in the stairwells. Cars and storage lockers getting broken into. Not a safe place to walk around at night, especially in the Harborview block. Do not recommend.
Having ac ports does not give you the right to advertise air conditioning as an amenity. They are two completely separate things.
Management is forcing all residents to sign a contract with a 3rd party delivery service called Fetch. Many residents have complained of delayed deliveries or packages intercepted from residents who have not agreed to be a Fetch customer. Being close to the hospitals means constant noise from emergency vehicles. Also, the neighborhood is overrun with sketchy individuals and safety is a concern at all times. Do Not Recommend.
Poor management. They do not listen to your problems. Now they are switching over to a new package delivery service called Fetch(they sell your data to 3rd party individuals). It’s also very loud by the hospital and we get a lot of sketchy behavior around the building. I wish security was better as well. I would not recommends living here. The price is not worth it.
I rented an apartment and there was a loud noise resonating throughout. The noise was particularly loud in the master bedroom. I called and informed the staff at Saxton immediately. It took a month before they resolved the issue and then only after I pleaded with them to send someone to see what it was. I averaged about 3 to 4 hours of interrupted sleep during this time since the noise cycled every 20 mins, rumbling and then subsiding. I requested they comp my rent since the conditions of my unit effected my health as a result of sleep deprivation and should not have been rented in that condition. They empathized with me and said they were there to listen but wouldn’t do anything more than that since I said it sounded like a freight elevator, even though I’m not near a freight elevator and it took numerous complaints before they investigated what the source of the noise was and resolved the issue. This could have been accomplished in 3 days of my moving in if they cared enough about their community of tenants.
Haha, the one review on here is obviously fake. Do they think people can’t tell? It’s like they didn’t even attempt to sound like a real human being. I have lived in the city my entire adult life so I am used to the noise and everything else that goes with it. When I tell you that it is loud on this block, I mean it is LOUD. I am not even talking about the ambulances headed to the ER one block away, it’s the KCME building loading dock combined with the fact you can hear the traffic on I-5. I wasn’t expecting this noise level, and definitely regret moving here because of it. The way that they advertise the building bothers me. If you live in Seattle then you know how bad this particular area is, but describing it as “vibrant” and “Seattle’s ultimate neighborhood” is really misleading for people from out of town. There is nothing nice about this area. It’s called Pill Hill for a reason. The area is so bad that they recently hired security to monitor the block after a shootout a few weeks ago sent a bullet through someone’s apartment window in the courtyard. It should be against the law to describe the neighborhood like they do. Management is really disorganized. It takes days to get a response, if at all before you have to ask again. They offer you things like an Amazon gift card 30 days after moving in, but 5 months later I am still waiting for mine. Same story from everyone I talked to. For some reason you cannot pay your own electric bill, instead you are forced to pay someone a fee to pay it for you. The “portal” used to pay rent, maintenance requests, etc is the worse system I have ever experienced. Seriously, it is really bad. But they have full size washer and dryers!
My girlfriend and I looked all over Seattle to find our perfect home, and it took our 36th try to get it just right. We fell in love with the style of this brand new apartment immediately and, two days later, we moved in with our little dog. The big open windows are his favorite feature! The courtyard has a nice atmosphere, and we’ve already met many people grilling or hanging out in the game lounge. The gym has top tier equipment, as well as a supply of free granola bars and refreshments. It’s one of those extra little things that makes Broadstone Saxton feel like home!
