Property Ratings at Scott Mountain
I have lived here for 3 months now. I was promised a working dishwasher the day after i moved in…3 months later and multiple maintenance requests, still no dishwasher. My dryer rips my clothes, i put in 2 requests, still no fix. My car was stolen on the property, no one alerted the community to the crime to warn them. 2 weeks later i have a strange man repeatedly trying to enter my home in the middle of the night. I dont feel safe and am contemplating leaving before my lease is up.
I've lived here for 3 years now... it has gotten to the point where we live in a dump. The trash areas have rats and are constantly overfilled with garbage, spilling out into the streets. Pet waste EVERYWHERE. Residents too lazy to clean up and maintenance staff too pretentious to help keep our property clean. Stairwells full of dirt, bugs, and pet waste. They have NEVER been washed. Gutters... "cleaned". Parking, horrible and my car is constantly being damaged because the spots are much too small. Appliances are older than me, constantly failing, and my maintenance requests go unanswered. I can look past the shitty "upgrades" that were made before I moved in (contact paper over particle board as a "new countertop", LAUGHABLE), but the management staff has completely failed this community. It's basically every man for himself here when it comes to getting anything done in your own apartment. I'm embarrassed to have anyone over because it looks like we live in a 3rd world country outside. Too far? Good. Take care of your residents, we pay WAY too much for way too little around here.
Less than 1 month as a resident, and I definitely feel like I made a huge mistake moving here. The property itself and all the nature is and continues to be a highlight of living at Scott Mountain. It's the staff that makes me want to move out asap. Let's start with my maintenance requests. Upon move-in, my apartment was not ready. The shower curtain rod was laying inside the tub; the overhead bathroom light was dirty, nonfunctional, and dangling from the ceiling; the ceiling fan does not turn on; and a hole in the window screen had a hole that was allowing bugs inside. All of these issues were reported to Scott Mountain in mid-May, the moment I moved in. We are now approaching one month with no resolution. I followed up with Scott Mountain at the end of May, and was told my work orders were printed and on the maintenance person's desk. A week and a half later, I'm trying to follow up again, but my messages, calls, and voicemails now go ignored. I ended up repairing the window screen myself, otherwise I could not have an AC or any way to counter the fact that my fan doesn't work (note that I'm a top floor unit and it's summer). I also had to superglue the shower rod myself to not get water everywhere each time I bathe. I could have done this myself from the getgo, but silly me assumed Scott Mountain would actually care about residents having functioning fixtures and no bug infestations upon move-in. In my corner of the neighborhood, the outside of the apartment is just as relaxing as the inside. I have a pair of neighbors who get into loud, screaming arguments at all hours of the day, and escalate to a point of shouting and chasing each other across the parking lot. Scott Mountain claimed they were aware of the problem but it's still ongoing, and I'm just told to call the police without even knowing what unit is causing the noise. It's not annoying, but terrifying to hear loud screams and not know if these people are actually in danger. I don't feel safe going outside when they're around. I came to Scott Mountain hoping for the bare minimum: an older apartment with no broken fixtures, and respectful neighbors. Instead, I'm already figuring out where I should move to next, and praying I have no more maintenance needs arise before my lease wraps up.
This area is not walkable or bikeable because there is nothing but trash and homeless EVERYWHERE! Management never responds to emails or answers their phone or returns phone calls- so don’t expect any help from them. Everything was fine when we moved in 2021 now I’m looking at a little homeless community from my balcony. Location sucks!
Management and Office staff has changed like every other week and none know what is going on or how to communicate. Terrible parking. Homeless camps behind the buildings. Yes we know they are not on the property but maybe since it’s a fire hazard to the ACTUAL property the management could and should communicate with the authorities to fix it. Take ownership! Security only comes if you call them so there is no ACTIVE security presence. Neighbors tires got slashed, broken glass everywhere on the road, huge potholes, random people illegally dump their huge loads of waste by our dumpsters, the list goes on. The mail boxes Were broken for 9 months. They had been broken into by someone mid to late 2021 and their communication about this the past however many months has been nonexistent, they blame everyone and everything else but themselves. Again! Take ownership of these issues, it’s not a hard concept. And after all of this, they have the gall to raise our rent. What a joke! I even emailed management about this AND corporate and I was ignored. And yes I know your generic response will be to please talk to us about these situations, lol.
My boyfriend and I lived here for a year and would have stayed longer had we not moved to Eugene. The community is great and the staff are so helpful and kind. The apartments are surrounded by a nice neighborhood with beautiful trees around the campus. Parking was always plentiful and maintenance requests taken care of right away. The community has a gym and pool, as well as washer and dryer in each unit. Reasonable prices for Portland, too! You won't regret living here!
This is the best apartment I have ever rented from. The staff is hands do the most attentive and helpful. Maintenance is fast and thorough. I have never had to wait more then a few hr's to have anything fixed unless they need to order a part. The office staff is polite, happy, friendly and always willing to help with what ever we need. The property is BEAUTIFUL and well kept. There is ample parking and the community here is warm and inviting! DEFINITELY a great place to live!

Save yourself the headache and rent somewhere else. The staff is lazy and unprofessional. They expect residents to be security, noise control, There are car break ins weekly. It’s noisy. Homeless people always going through the garbage. The neighbors are rude. Pools constantly closed for maintenance every summer.

Great community! Beautiful well maintained property and fantastic staff! Repairs happen very fast and there always seems to be enough parking. Other places I have lived there was never parking. Washers and dryers in the unit make things even better! Great location and close to everything I need!

We are so glad you are loving your home here. We are happy to hear you are loving the parking and having a washer and dryer in your apartment. Thank you for sharing your feedback! Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you!
The apartments themselves are okay, however the management company treats the residents with a lack of respect and dignity. The amenities are great when they are open. Parking is extremely limited and the spots are almost impossible to park in due to their size. My car was also towed by accident. Furthermore, we reported a broken sink and it took the management team 3 weeks to fix. In my opinion a renter can get much better quality as newer units come online this next leasing season.
I lived her for about 3 months before my roommates and I were released from the lease because there was a seriously bad black mold infestation that the apartments refused to deal with and refused to acknowledge that it was from the faulty insulation. They constantly told us it was our fault because we didn't keep the blinds and Windows open. I'm not sure about you but opening the windows in the middle of winter makes heating pointless. The office didn't want to work with us until my roommate broke down crying. I would not recommend this apartment complex to anyone.
Scott Mt. by the Brooks have been amazing place to live in. It's has easy highway access, and the Max green line is down the hill. For the most part, people have been pretty friendly, and the apartments appeared to be sound proof. We love the fact that our patio over looks a forest, and it's always pleasant to just chill and relax. This complex has a new 24 hour gym facility, and a pool. They recently took out the sauna and hot tub, and changed it into some kind recreational area. It would be nice if they enclose the recreational area, since Oregon has only a few good summer days. The cons with this place is the fact the rent keeps going up and up. The tenants are responsible to pay water, sewer, and garbage which is not included in the rent. Parking can also be a huge problem especially if you're a 2 car household, and there isn't enough parking space. For the most part, if you're okay with paying for everything, this place is pretty okay.
I love the quite location of the apartment.. its just far from my job, church and extended family. the only issue I have is there is mold that I have to maintain.. other than that, the grounds are immaculate.
These apartments have created a beautiful atmosphere, nestled away from the city hustle while still close enough to feel at home in portland. A fun, creative staff.
The apartment staff are very helpful and generally follow through on issues. They are close to the highway and certain apartments can be very noisy, it all depends on where your patio faces. I've lived in better and in worse, I'm just concerned that rent seems to be skyrocketing disproportionately.
My apartment is sufficiently sound proof, so it is very quiet. The two bedroom is the perfect size for the two of us. We are a few blocks to Tri-Met, train and bus lines and the freeway, but from here it doesn't really feel like it. Great pool and hot tub. Pets are welcome with space to run. Birds and squirrels all around. The maintenance staff is really accessible on a daily basis.
Scott Mountain By the Brook Apartments have a great management team that try their best to keep the complex family friendly. The pool is great for summer fun. The apartments are good sizes and the master has a walk in closet. The grounds are well kept. It is close to the Max, Springwater trail, Clackamas Town Center, tons of shopping and the local elementary school.
